Dang, Olive is one of the hardest woods to dry without cracking and twisting. I'm amazed to see it being used for such a delicate instrument.

incredible state-of-the-art machinery. Perfect workmanship, it's just a sin not to be tuneable. I don't know about Asia, but here in Brazil it's impossible to play with a fixed tuning, there's a lot of temperature variation and the tuning varies too much!

I know of no reason why the pipes should be produced using a CNC milling machine and not a lathe. I also question the suitability of an extension with bass pipes using magnets. I get scared when I imagine that two pipes suddenly fall off on stage as a soloist. But the instrument looks very nice. The video was also very interesting.

Etwas gut gewollt überraschend, aber natürlich in der digitalen, leicht schillernden Moderne nicht sehr ungewöhnlich, hoch beachtlich ist der wirkliche Grad der praktischen Technisierung, dieses sehr altehrwürdigen Handwerks. This company is called Noble Ocarinas. You should be able to find their website, but when I ordered and ocarina from them I had to use a shipping agency to getit to the U.S. I also don't know very much about panflutes, so I don't know how they compare to others, but it definitely seems they always put their best quality into their instruments.

Imagine making this entirely by hand (no CNC). I think it would take months, not days, from start to finish.

Not that long, but hard to get that small with the required accuracy. I could bore those holes with an auger bit, but keeping them perfectly straight would be a challenge.
