The first legal decision defining rights of a slave owner in the US, was won by a black man, Anthony Johnson. And according to the census, by 1860's there were 4,000 (black)slave owners in the south. A small, yet integral part of American history. I am confident T. Sowell did the necessary research to the extent, that our comprehension combined, would pale in comparison.

🎯🎯🎯🎯Morals, values, and sins, that’s a Christian thing. And western civilization embraced Christianity. Western Christianity and culture has been a good thing, not a bad thing in the whole history of humans. We all have benefited from western culture and Christianity. The Christian God said, if you choose human kings instead of God as king, human kings will turn their people into slaves. That’s how long ago there have been slaves. And that is why there are still slaves. ❤✝️

I agree with your presentation except that the Latin word ' sclavus "( slave) didn't mean what you now call "Slav"in English because the word "Slav" only appeared at the end of the 16th century, way after the fall of both Roman Empires. Thanks for your attention.

In 1619 Africans were brought to Virginia as indentured servants and not as slaves. Many Europeans also were indentured servants. However whites were allowed to gain their freedom and obtain land. People of African descent were legally denied freedom and the right to own land in the 1600s along with hundreds of years later. Therefore race was used to divide people who were indentured servants and therefore chattel slavery was developed to divide whites and blacks so that those who benefited from indentured servitude would have greater economic opportunity. Chattel slavery in this country was based upon race where by people of African descent had laws passed which allowed them to be treated as slaves for life. I do not understand why Thomas Sowell ignores these facts and attempts to whitewash the evils of the pernicious Apartheid racism of the American government and institutions!! The founding fathers supposedly had principles based upon freedom liberty and justice however many of them were slaveholders. Thomas Sowell should be ashamed to himself!!

@@CanadianMonarchist A lot of atrocities including slavery have occurred all over the world for thousands of years ; however since this country was founded on the principles of freedom liberty and justice there should be some accountability for the violations that have occurred.

@royguster5576 What other countries in the Western world weren't founded on freedom, liberty and justice? Isn't that the sole reason why the West led the fight for the end of slavery? Have you shown your appreciation for that or you don't realize if your ancestors were taken to Asia you'll likely still be a slave today? Do you want accountability for the millions of slaves alive today or you only care about the dead ones, particularly those that looked like you?

@@thomassowellreacts Slavery involving any ethnic or racial group today anywhere in the world is an abomination. I would really like to know if there are any records in which there are any lineage of slaves anywhere in the world held legally in slavery for at least 10 generations. That was the case in this country. Chattel slavery as practiced in this country was definitely racially oriented; laws were passed specifically for people of African descent regarding legalization of slavery.
