I can testify the enthralling effects this iconic uniform has, while waiting for my friend at the Perth airport in Australia. When a group of SIA cabin crew marched out of the airport, the admiring looks they received, it's something I won't easily forget.

Beautiful... but I don't know if it's the lighting or the filter used because the green kebaya seems super pale, like jade green instead of emerald green batik. The other kebaya colours are true to life. 50 over years old this uniform but still super iconic. :-))

The unmistakable iconic uniform of Singapore Airline.

Its origin is from Indonesia, specifically Javanese. I know a lot of Singaporeans would get butthurt from this.

Singapore Airlines girls are beautiful, and even though the sarong kebaya is meant to be 'classy' and elegant, it's a bit sexy too.

Dear Sir, I'm a professor teaching Airline Management in college, Korea, and planning to publish a textbook for the students. My question is can I use this video clip for the students? I hope to insert the address of this video(in the form of QR code actually) on the paper textbook so they can view this from their smart phone. Looking forward to hearing soon. Appreciate your approving.

Ive heard one guy said that JAVANESE is regarded as MALAY in Singapore. Even one of the President candidates of year 2023 has never mentioned JAVANESE as one of BIG 5 RACES in Singapore during his campaigne. And yet, Singapore considered Javanese cultures as their CULTURAL HERITAGE such as GAMELAN, BATIK, KEBAYA, KERIS, even the FOOD like NASI AMBENG or RAWON. I often saw at Changi airport how Singapore DISPLAYS those Javanese cultures as part of their TOURISM. You gotta be kidding me!!! As a Javanese myself I am so furious. That was so disrespectful. And also just because Javanese are spread throughout Singapore doesnt simply make Singapore has the rights to include these Javaneee cultures as yours. Not even JAVANESE PHILOSOPHY or WAY OF LIFE is implemented/practiced/preserved in Singapore. Excuse me to say this but this is RIDICULOUS. Ppffhh just totally blew my mind. #shameonyou

Well because the word Malay is the English term coined by the Colonial powers to refer to the people that were natives on the entire Malay archipelago region, it includes countries Brunei, East Timor, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines and sometimes Papua New Guinea. It’s similar to the word Chinese and Indian. Chinese refers to every person that were natives or originated from within China. Indian refers to every person that were natives to or originated from India. Similarly to Malay, Chinese do not all speak the same language too, we have Shanghainese, Minnanese, Teochew, Cantonese, Hakka, Hainanese and so on, culturally each groups may share slight similarities or differences. And in our language, the word Chinese or China does not exist at all, these are all terms coined by the British/Western colonial powers. From what I understand Indonesia was also a name given to Indonesia by the colonial government. Just know Malay, Chinese and Indian are terms coined by Colonial powers to categorize people from different regions, and we just continue using it. Javanese, Bugis, Boyanese and others are subgroups of Malay, so no one is denying Javanese and their heritage, but for most people to understand, the English terms are retained that’s all. So at least understand the truth before blaming Singapore. Just like Indonesia refers to the Chinese Indonesians as tiong hwa, that’s a term coined by the Indonesian government. Global Chinese diaspora in their own natives tongues don’t necessarily refers to themselves as tiong hwa, so if all Chinese cultural items in Indonesia were listed as tiong hwa cultural items, and a overseas Chinese diaspora who have no idea what tiong hwa meant and call Indonesia out for appropriation, wouldn’t it seems like it would be better for this person to ask a local, understand how the term came about, and do a fact check first before pointing fingers. I’m sure a lot of misunderstandings would be settled in a more amicable manner, rather than in a dispute that might sour the relationship of two countries.

I guess this is one of the reason SQ is losing on their profit margins. Money spent on tailor made for stewardess who majority hates the costume.
@wuwuuwu98844 жыл бұрын
Why hate it? When they wear kain batik walks must walk slowly and looks gracefully, see the Garuda and Batik Air flight attendants.

Biggest liar...was assured by 2 different chat agents during 2 different chat sessions that the flight i am taking is eligible for miles accrual but after following up with numerous email, SQ has decided not to credit the miles. No explanation given and couldn't tell why have I been lied to
