Growing up in rural Canada I had a neighbor who kept exotic animals from an old circus. My Mom and aunt always claimed he had a full roster of retired animals on his farm. Apparently my grandfather helped him find his blind lion in the woods, and my Mom once found a leopard in the barn. By the time I was born he only had a Zebra and a flock of Peacocks. Having encountered peacocks around my farm and nearby woods it never occurred to me that peacocks weren't native to Canada until seeing this video. I always knew the birds were special but I really was lucky to have seen them as much as I did growing up.

I worked with a pair of green peafowl. The females are similar in color to the males, but without the fancy tail feathers. The males shed their fancy long feathers after nesting season. Hey- they have already romanced the ladies, so why carry around all of the extra weight? Our male would still fan out his tail to impress our female when he only had a few scraggly-looking tail feathers left. She was not impressed. They did have a pair of chicks during the third year that I worked with them, and she was a VERY protective mamma!

Owls have 2 toes in front, 2 in back, like parrots (fact stated incorrectly in this video). Also, peafowl can swim. Webbed feet does not make a difference. Turkeys and chickens can swim as well, if anyone wondered. They paddle like ducks, just without webbed feet. Their feathers keep them from sinking.

🦚 Peacock: The Resplendent Symbol of Beauty ✨ Introduction: The peacock, with its mesmerizing plumage and enchanting courtship rituals, is a creature that captures the imagination and symbolizes beauty. 🌈 In this article, we will explore the world of peacocks, delving into their appearance, behavior, and cultural significance. 🦚💫 Appearance and Features: The peacock, scientifically known as Pavo cristatus, is a large and colorful bird belonging to the pheasant family. 💖🌿 Males, known as peacocks, are renowned for their extravagant plumage. Their long, iridescent tail feathers, known as a train, display vibrant hues of blue, green, and gold. 🌈✨ The train, which can measure up to 6 feet (1.8 meters) in length, is adorned with eye-shaped patterns called ocelli. When the male fans out his train in a spectacular display, it creates a breathtaking sight. 🌟💃 Behavior and Courtship Displays: The courtship displays of peacocks are legendary and have fascinated observers for centuries. During the mating season, male peacocks engage in a remarkable performance to attract the attention of peahens. 💃💖 They spread their tail feathers into a stunning fan, elevating them vertically while vibrating their wings and emitting a series of distinctive calls. 🌿🎶 The vibrant display of the peacock is an elaborate courtship ritual designed to impress potential mates. The shimmering colors and intricate patterns of the train captivate the peahens, who select their partners based on the quality and attractiveness of the display. 🌈💕 The more impressive the display, the greater the chances of successful courtship. 💃🌟 Habitat and Distribution: Peacocks are native to the Indian subcontinent and can be found in countries such as India, Sri Lanka, and Pakistan. 🗺️🦚 They inhabit a variety of habitats, including forests, grasslands, and cultivated areas. Due to their popularity, peacocks have also been introduced to other parts of the world, including the United States, where they can thrive in suitable climates. 🌍🌿 Cultural Significance and Symbolism: The peacock holds a special place in many cultures and religions. In Hindu mythology, the peacock is associated with the deity Lord Krishna, who is often depicted wearing peacock feathers in his crown. 🙏🌸 In Greek and Roman mythology, the peacock is linked to the goddess Hera and represents immortality, beauty, and rebirth. 🌟🦚 Peacock motifs and symbolism can be found in art, literature, and architecture across different civilizations. Their vibrant colors and graceful appearance have inspired artists and designers throughout history. 🎨💫 Conservation Status and Protection: While the peacock is not currently classified as endangered, conservation efforts are crucial to protect its habitat and ensure its long-term survival. 🌿🌍 Habitat destruction, illegal trade, and hunting pose significant threats to peacock populations. 🚫🦚 Efforts are being made to raise awareness about the importance of conservation and sustainable practices. Strict laws and regulations are in place in many countries to protect these beautiful birds and their habitats. 🌍🌿✨ Conclusion: The peacock's resplendent plumage and captivating courtship displays make it a true symbol of beauty and elegance. 🌈💫 Its vibrant colors and graceful movements have enchanted people for centuries, inspiring awe and admiration. By appreciating and safeguarding the natural habitats of peac ocks, we can ensure the continued existence of this magnificent bird and preserve its legacy for future generations to admire and cherish. 🦚🌿💖

Keep strong. Dont forget that despite the evil in this world, God is full of justice, mercy and love. Justice said we broke His perfect law - causing the world's previous perfection to be destroyed - and therefore we deserve Hell (like a punishment in any legal system but this is eternal as His perfect law is eternal too). Don't think you fit in that category? Ever done one of these?: lying, stealing - regardless of how small the object EVER, hating others - which is murder in God's perfect law, lusting (plus God sees our entire thought life). Justice says "the soul that sins shall die" - if we break one in thought/word/deed it's as if we're guilty of all of them. Quite simply, living by the law (which is doing everything perfectly) is impossible for sinful humans . The law shows us that 1. We will die in Hell if we fail to follow it and 2. We cannot save ourselves BUT, 3. God's perfect, immovable law points us to Christ, who followed and fulfilled the law in thought, word and deed perfectly in our place. He did what we couldn't and did it on our behalf. He was then sentenced to death on a cross, and took our personal punishment for our sin, paying our penalty (like paying our fine) completely FOR us, and has given us freedom. If we turn from the sins we have committed and repent (pursue the opposite direction of love through Christ) He will, overtime, recreate us back into that previously perfect image through The Holy Spirit which Jesus sends to all who accept Him as their personal Lord and Savior of their life. It's not about following the law - perfectly, as it's impossible - it's about letting Christ in to guide and teach you and obeying Him through His power (not ourselves as it's impossible without depending on His power and instruction). He is our substitute in His life, death and resurrection. He essentially rewrote history in our place so that, if you believe in Him, it will be as if you had never sinned if you accept Christ's death as our own in our place. He is in Heaven right now preparing a place for us so that He can take His faithful, believing children home with Him when He returns. He will ressurrect us from death when He returns, giving mercy to those who accept His love, instruction and teachings in their life, and give justice to those who refuse it. He doesn't want ANY of us to go to Hell and die for continuing in evil and rejecting His way to life, thats why He died FOR us. Hes giving EVERYONE a chance, He wants everyone to take the free gift of salvation from Hell. He wants us to be His and begin to follow His life of love and service through Him. So long as we keep our hearts near to Christ through His strength, strive to follow His will of perfect love revealed in the Bible, and ask Him to help us in the midst of (very certain) pitfalls and struggles, we will, in time, win the ultimate victory over sin, pain and DEATH through Christ. Even if you are willing to be made willing, pray for Jesus to come in and He will do what we can't. Give us The Holy Spirit who will guide us in the right way. NOTE: You are NEVER too sinful or messed up that God cannot turn your life around through Jesus. EVER If you have any questions let me know

Thank you for the info, it's interesting but... what is it with the creepy music? >___< It's distracting; this is not a mystery documentary hehe.

Usually blue pigment doesn't exist in birds so they use structural feathers. Best example would be budgies as you get white-blue without yellow pigment and yellow-green with the yellow pigment

I wouldn't surprised as they are interested in humans since average human has skin tones of peahen feathers. And similar sized even though humans still doubles the volume and triples the weight.

it's odd that the peacock is not related to birds-of-paradise. considering they both exhibit this really crazy colourful show and dance...

Can confirm, Peacocks are the loudest and most annoying bird you can possibly have in your backyard. I love them but I could never go back to dealing with that noise constantly!
