I know some Foreign vehicles might need a special window film shade but I've found for the most part these percentages cover what I need to run my Window Tinting business.

Good video, you explained everything clearly. Down here in Florida tinted windows are almost a requirement. Dealerships offer it. Were allowed 28% on the driver/passenger windows and 15% on the rear windows. On vans and SUVs, 6% is allowed on the sides and rear windows. The Police rarely get involved in tinting tickets because all of their windows are tinted too dark. I highly recommend ceramic tint. I just had the original 18% carbon tint replaced with Ceramic of the same shade and clear ceramic on the windshield, and the heat inside was a night and day difference. It was expensive but worth the expense, I can hang meat in there now. I use lower settings on my AC. You seem like a smart guy who cares about his work, if I lived in your area, you'd be my guy.

@@FadeToBlackLLC absolutely. Does the starting value of a cars glass matter and make a difference or not really in your experience? To be more clear, does 50 on a glass windshield look different than 50 on a glass with some tint or shade on the glass. (Not tint on tint but the actual glass has a shade.) hope this makes sense.

@@JeLifeCoach Yes there are a lot of factors on how tint shades will look. I try to keep it simple, but interior color, or tinting over different shades, film brands it all can change up the look.

In my opinion, visor strips should only be done in 5%. With me, the sun still hits hard at times with one layer of 5 for a visor strip! Thinking about adding another layer!

Besides the 70% I have actually tried them all. The 20% looks the best, but 50% is safest against pull overs (in my state).

honestly, for any car i’d do 5% ceramic front and back and hope for the best. here in socal they really don’t stop you for tint so ppl drive with 5% all day long

I just did a sedan in 05% but that doesn't happen that often. Like I said the 20% is my main, but if your in the city hopefully you can see what's going on. We have a lot of country out here. Thanks for watching!

@@3dwin135 I can't see the road from my house.. It's that country living 10 mins away from the city. So I always try to tell people it will be tough. When I lived in the city 35% wasn't all that bad until I got to on the highway. 🤣

Wayne, so the legal limit in my state is 24%. What shade would you recommend for people who want legal limit?

That's hard to say. I don't know whats popular in your area? You might need to do some research. Not being from there I can't say. Our legal is 50 fronts and 35% rears and 20% is our most popular Tint install.

Got 42% ceramic on my windshield on my truck and have no problems down here in SW MO. Got 18% on front passengers and of course factory 18% on rear passenger and back glass. Trying to get the back passengers and back glass at 5%. Would I need another layer of 18?

If you go over the rear with anything around 20% it will be close to 5% or darker.

Check out my other videos. I have no clue what to recommend. You can do a match with a Visor, or full Windshield or go over the rear glass too. Way to many options. I don't base choices on the color of vehicle, most owners know what they want when they come in.

Hello, need some guidance .I have got my car tinted to 35% with Lumar ceramic tint , but the tint installer said he can’t tint the rear windows as they are factory tinted already (around 40 %) and any kind of tint on them will make them illegal. Is there a way I can match them with my front windows. Because now front windows look little darker then rear. Thanks

So you had the fronts done with 35% and now it doesn't match the rear? Honestly no, I just have the fronts done in 20% in my shop. I don't use 35% to match rear Privacy Glass. Up here in Wisconsin we just do not what the customer wants and for the most part we have no issues.

Not much of a difference between a 30 or 35.. Or 15 and a 20. You need to space out farther to see a big difference. As in 20 to 35 is more noticeable.

Lol, you can't say what will get you pulled or not. At times it's just the officer and you just never know. But I think with 35% you'd be fine. I do a ton of 05% and they seem to be doing well. I used to live in Appleton, then Freedom and now Marshfield but still work in Freedom a couple of days during the week.

Would you recommend 50% windshield tint if I already have 35% on the front windows and 5% on the rear windows? I’m going Saturday morning to tint my windshield and initially told them I want 50% but I’m a little worried about the risk of getting pulled over. I have a light grey interior seating in my car and I wasn’t sure if it wouldn’t look as dark on the outside or if it still would look pretty dark and cause law enforcement to give me trouble.

I only suggest 50% with any tint combo so you can still see out at night.

Chances are almost zero to get pulled over with 50% VLT tint. 35% should be now problem. 20% and you are walking the line.

I heat Shrink Roll ups, Windshields and Rear/Back Windows. I haven't been shrinking Visor Strips but at times it wouldn't hurt and can save time since you might get fingers forming inside after installing.

You really want to look at setting up an account with a company. SolarFX, Flexfilm, Express or you can purchase from Tint Club. Tons of options.

I wouldn't recommend 5%, you will not be able to see out of it at night. It's pitch black. I'd go with 20%, nice and dark for the most part and you can see. I will install it but I usually don't recommend it.

Most go with 20%, it's the best selling film I install so I'd say no. Most SUVs and trucks rear oem privacy glass is considered a 20% so a lot have been around that shade every day with those vehicles.

I don't bother carrying it because 20% is so close and most don't even notice the difference.

Auto exposure on the camera is pretty hard to see the tint level in the video.

Yes but since I tell you the shades it give you the info of what I'm using. Different brands vary in color shades as well so the video isn't what you'd go by. Find a shop near you and see what products they use. This is just for reference.
