The speed this car went through the corners is another demonstration why you should focus in suspension and balance over increasing engine power unless you're just doing straight line racing.

I bought a new Evo 8 in 2003 and had it tuned by Vishnu. It had about 425 HP at the wheels running 27 LBS of boost. I used it to do track days and what a blast that car was. It was such a pure driving experience. I wish I'd never sold it. This video brought back some fun memories.

You can tell she knows the track, her eyes were glancing at the apex and then immediately to corner exit. I enjoyed watching her. Oh ya you too Misha. Lol

Her Mechanic: So when we replace the manifold, you wanna bigger turbo, right? Sandra: No, you no listening... i think it really does need 6 gears though, given how close the ratios are. The EVO had a bit more to offer for top speed if it wasnt limited by the gearing. (Edit: depends how far you rev it out, idk what the redline is, but he got up to 260 at 8k at one point, which is reasonable top speed for this track, but the engine does have more to give)

Man I miss my Evo sometimes. One thing I can say that helps combat the short gears on these cars on track is cam, springs, and retainers, basically gives you an extra 40ish kph of top speed depending on tire size. It is a much better solution then using the 6 speed box, they are made of glass (speaking from experience). The 6 speed boxes 6 gears crushed into the 5 speed casing. Another option is Jacks and Shep trans in the states. They have some great options. I absolutely loved this lap, hope you get to drive it a gain with a bit more rev or top end. One other option is a final drive.

The Sheepey parts aided in keeping it cooler and the KW coilovers we’re doing their job well also. Great lap! Love the pedal box cam!!👌🏽🔥🔥

Watching Misha get into the car reminded me of the Elise S1 (with roof ON) for anyone over 6 foot tall...glorious 😆 also the fact that the car is stock power with all the other mods is a credit to the owner; proper girl power there 👆

Nice track weapon this Evo. Looks very planted and also very forgiving, but it would definitely benefit from one extra gear, given the short ratio of the gearbox. I see how helpful such close ratio would be in rallying but not so much on a fast race track

Great lap and kudos to the owner for a well built machine. Misha finally drove one in the right conditions.

Had a friend that had an Evo 8, bought it brand new, and even stock they handle quite nice. He took it to Road Race Engineering and had coilovers installed, after market wheels and tires, and about the same level of engine prep as this one. One of the most amazing things about it was how precise the steering was on it.

Amazing driving skills! I think he did his best after that gear mistake and the car is so fantastic, flat on track... Yes she could have a 6 spd transmission with different gear ratios but this is good too.

I love this build, I expect it will have an amazing lifespan since she didn't make the engine a nuclear reactor, just great quality of life mods and good safety gear. 280bhp is plenty of power to race with when you're not a pro and overall will be a more balanced and enjoyable experience than some of those straight-line rockets!

Nice one! Like my 7 track cars younger cousin. Looks much more refined than mine I just ripped almost everything out (which I now regret 😂) and seems very conservatively tuned so would be a nice reliable trackday weapon. Also - those gears are ludicrously short! Mine is also 5 speed but can reach around 165mph, so this must have RS box ratios as GSR is much longer.

The Evo is one of the best cars ever build. This car performt every time , wet, snow, gravel and dry.

Love the way she built this car! Very tasteful and smart! I had a 2006 civic si and did the same thing! Stock motor, but aftermarket coilovers, better brakes and fluid, upgraded radiator and cooling package, upgraded camber arms, new bushings everywhere. Thing was a beast and a pleasure to drive. Sold with 107k miles for 15,500 and never one problem.

I love the 5th gear to reverse lock out in my Mitsubishi, coming from 5th you have to go neutral (3-4 gate) then move to reverse, it won't even grind trying 5th to reverse

It shows power isn’t everything it. Good tires, good suspension = sensible mods. Very nice.

Really crazy how the front end is so precise it feels like you think about where to position it and the car reads your mind almost reminding me of how car journalists praised the mclaren 675 Lt's front end grip and precision, but as im not a nerd i do wonder is it the suspension that's really good or something else? Thankfully for you, it's almost impossible to shift into reverse while moving forward. Great car and a nice lap. It would be even better with a taller final drive.

Correct me if I’m wrong the evo is mostly the base for a rallye car. (That’s where the280-300hp came from). Also most rallye cars tend to have a shorter gearbox since you won’t reach top speed very often on a rallye ( of course there are exceptions like finland and sweden.)

I mostly drive a 6-speed van for work and I often go in reverse when driving a 5-speed :)
