Mine is a failing . It keeps scraping my cheek and grinding makes it scrape one more place of my cheek as well which made me want to take off the implant crown so as to heal the scrapes well. Is this because of the incorrect shape of the crown ?

How long does it take bone loss to occur? Everything has been well for over 10 years and since a few weeks it has been sensitive and hurting. X ray shows that the bone surrounding seems to be less dense than before. There is also gum inflammation. Our dentist said that she needs to discuss with others regarding how to treat.

Hi I had implant and crown put on recently on my upper front. It has been a month and now it’s starting to move a lot and getting harder to talk as well. Their is no redness or pain unless my crown touches both teeth. What do you think . Is it just the screw has come loose or implant has not integrated well enough.yes I had bone graft on it.

So there’s a lot of people commenting about complications or failing implants. I never done any but I’m doing my research to see if it’s worth it. I’ve never smiled with my teeth showing due to the amount of cavities, discoloration and broken teeth. What would you recommend? My teeth aren’t sensitive though. They’re pretty strong. My gums are strong too. Should I get implants or dentures? I need a guidance in this subject

I have an overjet its not too big but its still really bad and its affecting My Speech and My appearance For such cases do i get corrective jaw surgery?
@advanceddentalartistryperth
@advanceddentalartistryperth 4 жыл бұрын
It depends on the cause of the overjet. Is it upper jaw over grown? Lower jaw underdevelopment? Upper teeth angled forward of the lower teeth? Lower teeth retrocline (tilting inward) under the lower teeth? This can all be tested with a Lateral Ceph x-ray and analysis and other facially landmarks. Corrective jaw surgery is only if the underlying issue is primarily JAW related and most is a combination of several issues. Hope this helps.

Sorry for the late reply. Placement of an implant with an active infection is challenging and its more a case to case basis based on the amount of bone and the size of the infection, etc. If the infection can be completely cleaned, the bone is adequate and you can get primary stability (implant torque) then it may be possible to place the implant at time of removal. Have you had the treatment completed?

When does bone loss start? How many years it will take to loss a bone?
@advanceddentalartistryperth
@advanceddentalartistryperth 3 жыл бұрын
It can be early or late. This is a biological process and is determined by many factors - bone quality and quantity, oral hygiene, implant placement, connection of implant to abutment type, size of the implant, depth of the implant, general health, surface of the implant, etc. It's very multiple factorial. If the bone loss is after many years, this is generally called "periimplantitis" and is bacterial or heavy bite related. Hope this helps

Number 3 tooth implant in for 5 years. A week ago I bit down too hard chewing. Felt weird but with no shock of pain feeling or anything. Then next day, dull right face pain, felt swollen then got back to normal the day after. After chewing normally past week, feels sore after. I Take ibuprofen at night along with wearing a mouth guard and wake up fine until I chew again. So is it possible it is just bruised and then go back to normal in several days/weeks?

Will the gum grow back in the area where the implant failed?
@advanceddentalartistryperth
@advanceddentalartistryperth 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Em. Gums are supported by bone so there are 2 options. 1. If the implant is removed, a bone and gum (connective tissue) graft is the best long-term solution to ensure we have enough hard tissue (bone) and soft tissue (gum). 2. If there is just a minor defect, e.g. slightly loss of the appearance of the bulk of the gums (not recession) or between the teeth and an implant, then soft tissue (connective tissue) graft or the use of artificial tissue is possible (e.g. Muco-graft). It's a very case-to-case decision. I hope this helps. And thanks for watching.

If an implant doesn’t have adequate bone support, must it be removed?
@advanceddentalartistryperth
@advanceddentalartistryperth 4 жыл бұрын
It depends in whether the bone loss is EARLY or LATE. If EARLY - first 3-6 months - this is lack of "osseointegration" or lack of bone fusing to the implant - the implant must be removed ASAP to reduce further bone loss. If LATE bone loss - "peri-implantitis" or gradual bone loss around a dental implant- then removal depends on the patient, type of implant, where in the mouth, lengthen of the implant, how fast the bone loss is, is the patient considering another implants, etc. If the bone loss can be stabilised, and this is monitored closely then it can remain, or the bone loss limits future dental implant due to a lack of bone and is rapid, it should be removed. Late bone support vs. Removal is a case-to-case decision.

Hello, i got an implant a month ago, and yesterday i had to take it out because it got infected. The doctor put in a bone graft, after there was a blood clot around the area but a few hours later there was a gel like substance (around the size of an m&m) coming out of the area, im worried that the bone graft is coming out. Is it normal for that to happen? Second question is if a bone graft fails will that effect the natural teeth around it? Im booking an appointment with my dentist soon but that will take a few days and ive got very high anxiety so a reply would be greatly appreciated

Hi there. The bone graft is white and your description sounds like a blood clot. If a bone graft fails it may affect the teeth on either side if there is an infection so regular x-rays would be good. Sorry for the late reply as we have been closed for Christmas/New Year.

i have dental implants in the upper jaw both incorrectly positioned and and resulted in very low bone coverage and aesthetic failure, my dentist is telling me i need to remove them and do bone and gum grafting. imy concern are how risky is the implants explantation ? and will i have a natural looking teeth at the end with natural gum? or i will end up with big teeth designed to cover the gum and bone regression ( similar to the one i have now)
@advanceddentalartistryperth
@advanceddentalartistryperth 4 жыл бұрын
Implant removal can be easy or very hard and difficult. It depending on the implant design, osseo-integration, etc. Generally the simplest is it just unscrew the dental implant and graft however if the implant is fully osseous-intgated the only option is "trephine" or bone removal around the implant. It's challenging as some cases are simple and others so difficult. The bone and gum graft needs to over-build the area as there is anywhere shrinkage after 9 months of bone healing and this will help create the right size teeth - not big teeth to cover the recession. Hope this helps. X

Hi, I'm not sure if you'll respond but I live in Australia and had upper and lower all on 4 done just over a year ago. I went to the best clinic money can buy with the top of the top dentists and oral surgeons. I had regular check ups all throughout the healing process that included every scan/x-ray you can imagine and was told the entire time I was healing perfectly and taking excellent care of them. I still attend regular appointments with my dentist and hygienist to check up on my teeth and everything has been smooth sailing up until a few weeks ago. I have developed severe pain in two of my lower implants and the gum surrounding them. My dentist advised me that it's possible one or two of the implants may be failing but we are currently in the process of ruling out everything else that could be causing the pain first. I am devastated, frustrated and frankly quite scared. My question is can one or multiple implants fail even after successful healing process, perfect hygiene and maintenance?

@@J-ZIM Since my last comment I was found to have had an infection which was causing all the pain I was having. Since this first infection I have dealt with about 4 different infections in the same spot every time. With antibiotics being prescribed every time and the infection would seem to go away but then come back. My dentist finally figured out that the cause may have been that the implant prosthetic was digging into my gum in one spot (there spot where the infections had been happening) and would dig in so bad that it would cause an open wound that would become infected. So he filed it back and smoothed it out and I haven't had an issue since! Further scans did show some bone loss at the site of the implants closest to where the infections were but so far the bone loss hasn't caused any instability for the implants but I'm having it closely monitored so fingers crossed it doesn't deteriorate any further.

After a bone graft you will need to wait 9-12 months for the bone to reform in this area. Then an implant can be placed but no temporary - bury the implant and let it heal for 6+ months and then a new tooth can be placed. Once there is implant failure with bone loss we need to be more conservative with treatment and give the body more healing time. Temporary crowns or "immediate loading" is higher risk treatment over "delayed placement" and delayed placement is more predictable

I watch what I eat and try to eat mostly soft foods. I'm wondering if bone/tissue grafting at this stage could help improve the area around those implants so that they won't fail? @advanceddentalartistryperth
@advanceddentalartistryperth 4 жыл бұрын
Hi - Thanks for your questions. It's depends on why the bone has been lost around the implants - bacteria (peri-implantitis), over loading, food packing and difficult cleaning. Bone and tissue grafting is possible and there is a number of techniques including different bone substitutes. This may reduce more bone loss, and stabilise the area however if the reason for the loss is not reversed the risk will be that the bone and tissue graft will not take. If the bone is more than 50% of lost it may be best to consider new implants after removal and bone grafting. How old are the current implants?

@advanceddentalartistryperth
@advanceddentalartistryperth 4 жыл бұрын
If there teeth have not shifted, the other big issues is the bone. The bone in the upper molar area with most likely shrink and due to the position of the sinus (just above this area), lead to possible difficulties placing the implant. Given it's been 4 years, most of this bone loss has already occurred. You can wait as long as you like however this may lead to a risk of not having enough bone for implant treatment or the need to graft bone or a "sinus lift" procedure to create more bone. IF you have a 3d bone scan (CBCT) completed the dentist can then advise you on the amount of bone, the position of the sinus and if you can wait. Take care and thanks for watching!

Hello! I am 26 years old. Don't smoke. Brush twice a day and floss daily. I have had an implant fail twice in the same area. My surgeon then told me he has no idea why this is happening since I am so healthy. Any ideas as to what may be happening. I made an appointment to see a different surgeon

Seems like it’s all about the money for them. I recently got the all on 6 and just had one fail. I feel like another one is failing, but the dentist said I’m gonna have to redo everything ALL OVER AGAIN! There’s no way in hell I’m paying over $30k AGAIN. You’d think they’d help you out rather than just think about the money.
