Thank you for doing this with large needles and yarn and doing it slowly step by step. Thanks to you, I finally understand how to catch floats on the purl side.

Good to hear. For the life of me, I’ve never understood why there’s hardly a video on the subject and that is why I made one. That said, it pleases me beyond words when I learn that my video helped a fellow knitter‼️😌🧶

THANK YOU !!! I just began with fair isle, and for the life of me couldn't master the purl floaters, you are a delight to learn from! Great job with the description, colors, camera and directions. Especially the " oh, I changed my mind " part, :) that makes it so easy to remember.

Margarett Maxwell Thank you Margaret, I'm glad you found me too! I have to say that I was amazed at how few videos there were with regard to trapping floats on the purl side. That's what motivated me to make the video in the first place. It always makes my day when someone like you comments on my video and for that I say thank you!

Thanks Debra! This biggest reason that I did that video is because there were none out there on the subject and I never understood why. Either way, I’m glad you found me and are now able to trap those floats on the purl side! 🧶 🥰

Thank you Paula and you are right. I've always been shocked that there aren't more videos on stranding the purl side. I have to believe that not everyone does color work in the round. Btw, go to my website and check out my video on how to knit (or purl) in your ends as you go. The technique is very similar to this. It will save you tons of time once you master it! Shoot me a message if you have trouble locating the video on my site.

If you consider true fair isle to be in the round what do you think of Designers Marie Wallin, or Alice Starmore who have patterns that are knit flat?
@WynnKnit11 жыл бұрын
Thank you ; -)

So based on what I’ve seen from other videos, for strand knitting , on the right side (knit side) of your work, you hold your background color in your right hand, and your dominant color in your left. So on the purl side, do you reverse it , i.e., dominant color on right and background on left?
@WynnKnit2 жыл бұрын
I apologize for the delay in addressing your very good question. The short answer is yes, I do switch the hand from time to time when working the purl side. What dictates when I do? Yarn color and my own good judgment. In other words, maintain the hand for an inch or so. If it appears that there’s a significant difference, I back out the stitches and switch yarn position. For the most part, the only time that it was necessary to switch was when there was a great color contrast. I hope that I answered your question?

Problem: I’m knitting in the round, making a hat, about 1/3 is purl, & 2/3 is knit. I wanted to use one color for purl design and second color for knit, but can’t figure out how to carry 2nd while purling. In your video you have purl side facing you, but I don’t. I hope you can picture it because it’s hard to explain. I have the yarn in front while purling so it’s not in back to catch a float and I can’t figure out how to do that. I appreciate any help you can give me thanks ahead.
