On Wednesday, Chingford and Woodford Green candidate Faiza Shaheen was told she would no longer be a Labour candidate.
What does this say about Keir Starmer? And for socialists' position in the Labour party?

I used to live in Chingford and late parents used to know Tebbit. IDS was his election agent. I am amazed that Faiza has got the majority down so low in a natural Tory seat on the edge of Epping Forest. It is by sheer hard work and personality. She should not be robbed of standing for Labour this time now able to win, probably by miles.

It's shifting Labour because of high rental and remote working in London pushing out younger voters into the suburbs so it will become a safe Labour seat purely by demographics quote London's suburbs are being placed under a huge amount of strain as an increasing number of families move out of the capital. and High house prices and the rise of flexible working have resulted in a growing number of Londoners leaving the city for pastures new. New data shows record numbers of Londoners are buying homes elsewhere, with Surrey, Hertfordshire and Kent the most popular locations.

Anyone who has an sympathy for faiza should remember how she came to power. It was a corrupt exodus to get our highly successful previous labour candidate Bilal Mahmood out by undiversifying the pool of candidates by demanding that only BAME women were allowed to stand. In the previous 2 elections he had gained a 6% and then a 15% increase in labour voters, only losing to IDS in 2016 by a couple thousand votes. Bilal as a man was disallowed from running again and was merely a power play by the far left of Labour to get their own candidate in. Yet the same people who criticise Labour for removing faiza, regardless of whether they think the reasoning behind her candidacy rejection was justified, seem to forget that the only reason she had a job was due to corrupt corbynites undermining a successful candidate who hadn't put a foot wrong. Coming from a young voter in the constituency of Chingford and and Woodford Green

Or just that some people cannot be trusted to execute an election strategy without being totally self-destructive? The British public are not going to vote for an especially left wing option. The only hope the UK has of implementing any progressive policies is to hitch them to a centre-left Labour party. For some though, that not enough and they are apparently more than happy to go with an all-or-nothing attitude (and as such, deliver nothing because they will never get the votes to win).

My solace was that I hadn`t done anything wrong and that I was in company with so many others. I cried for days at the injustice of it all and the way my appeal was just blocked. After the callous, cowardly, illegal way that Dr Fazia Shaheen was treated, we in Chingford BEG her to stand as an Independent so we can all vote for her come 4th July. When Sir Keir/ NEC discarded Fazia, in actual fact they are discarding us and the CHOICE we made through vote - in 2018 and 2022. We were volunteers - hundreds of us - in 2019. We saw how effective Fazia was at the doorstep with her fierce intelligence, her solid knowledge of local issues, her empathy, her warmth. Fazia was also courageous (consistent) when she chose to stand for Chingford, the seat where she lived (lives) and grew up... She would have been aware that the odds were HUGE: Chingford had been sort of "hijacked" by the mediocre IDS for decades and by the "nice' man IDS had replaced: Norman Tebbit. Huge odds or nor, Fazia chose this Tory Chingford/ Woodford Green seat and through relentless, passionate work day after day after day (I witnessed it, being a volunteer) nearly ousted IDS in December 2019, short of 1,262 votes. After Dr Shaheen' s deselection on Wednesday 29 May, "Sir" Iain must be smiling from ear to ear, relieved and looking forward to winning by a great deal more than just 1,262 votes! Dr Shaheen must run as an Independent. Our CHOICE - in 2018 and in 2022 - must be honoured and she must represent us, rather than some female Brent councillor we don't know or voted for in proper 'trigger ballots' carried out in 2022. This woman - whoever she may be - was parachuted and IMPOSED on us forcefully by Sir Keir and his clique at the NEC. This is NOT accepable. Dr Shaheen must stand as an Independent and finish what we in Chingford started in 2019. Period.

All of his policies reak of David Cameron and this is the final straw. Id trust a shaky SNP over a labour whos forgotten who the stand for.

Council tax freeze is causing local councils who are nearly bankrupt to cut already cut services. A UK wide burden though and I wouldn't tie that to SNP. Drug related deaths are still too high not to be a central talking point. Faith with Kate Forbes as deputy minister doesn't inspire confidence in how I would like to see Scotland become more progressive, but Keirs decision making has that easier for SNP to keep my vote. Could bet £50 the any Labour swing away from SNP will be pushed by media as a "rejection to independence" when it's an absolute lie, and only cause by the disgust of the Tories and nothing to do with Labour policies.

Of course there’s something else at play, there has been since Jeremy Corbyn left as leader of the Labour Party, which is a purging of the of the left and anyone who’s a socialist or had ties to Corbyn. The trouble is not so long ago Faiza was happy to throw genuine socialists and fellow MP’s like Chris Williamson under the bus, so it’s hard to have sympathy for her. Why also would she want to be involved with a party that are supporting the abhorrent crimes in Gaza?……Also why support Starmer who’s exposed himself as being a pathological liar and a two faced snake?…..Said he was good friends with Corbyn, then he wasn’t, supported a list of pledges but then backtracked on every single one. Labour isn’t a party of the left and doesn’t represent any form of socialism whatsoever. The choice at the ballot box next month is Tory or Tory lite, if you want to vote for a left wing party you’re better off voting Green or Independent if you have a good candidate.

Nothing she said was anti-Semitic. Israel cannot and does not represent all Jewish people. Like any powerful western government, Israel has lobbying groups in allied countries. This isn't unusual or weird. If people refer to an Israel lobby they are, unless there's other reasons to suspect them, making a factual statement. It's as simple as that. Labour Friends of Israel is a very active group with plenty of Labour MPs signed up to it. The idea that their active subscription to a group that openly and actively supports Israel is totally irrelevant to their stance on Israel is moronic and borders on gaslighting. "Yes we like and support this country. Yes we are part of professional organisations that exist to push for that nation. But you're not allowed to ever suggest that that's actually the case. Because... it's anti-Semitism!"

The fact is these Labour and Conservative friends of Israel groups are now a hotbed of extremism. Suella Braverman and Israel's new spokesman the former Labour Friends of Israel member David Mencer are cases in point. Margaret Hodge is another. No-one can even mention the Palestinian people without their wrath coming down on you. This is where this extremism comes from. Try watching GB News or Talk TV. They will do anything to goad the Palestinian supporters. They've accused so many people of antisemitism that it is now a weapon to beat anyone who sees the wrong in Israel's actions. The reality is many countries are turning away from The UK and American stance. When this is over we and America will be pariah's as will Germany, Canada and Australia who've allowed too many Zionists to infiltrate their societies.

My heart goes out to Faiza, who has done nothing wrong, and certainly nothing to justify her last-minute deselection as an electoral candidate for Labour. She is a stonkingly good candidate and the reasons for her deselection had everything to do with factionalism, racism and Islamophobia, and nothing to do with any lack of ability or integrity on her part. But perhaps in the long term this may turn out to be a better situation for her, bitter though her disappointment must be for her. Labour is no longer a 'Broad Church.' Under Starmer Labour has become a centre-right party, not a progressive party. Both before and especailly since the brief period under Corbyn's leadership, there has been a concerted effort to turn Labour into a centre-right party, a push coming both from within the more right-wing factions of Labour, and from various vested commercial interests outside the party. This push is for the party to both accept and to embrace the Neoliberal (Free Market Capitalist) economic system which every government since Thatcher has followed seemingy wihout question. This effort has meant that the left within Labour needed to be either squeezed out, or encouraged to leave, or sidelined, demoted or deselected. This process has been ruthless, unfair, cruel and blatantly factional. The 'genius' (according to the instigators) of this plan is that the British electorate remain almost universally unaware of what's really going on. Faiza is a victim of this relentless push to ensure that the UK remains a Neoliberal economy. As a more progressive candidate, she was always going to do her best to combat Neoliberalism, and the ever rising levels of inequality and poverty which result in adhering to the Neoliberal agenda. If Faiza did decide to run as an independent candidate, I suspect she'd get a lot of support from her local community. But I can understand that this could be a daunting prospect, without the support and backing of a major political party. I wonder if it's only a matter of time before the likes of John McDonnell, RLB, Barry Gardiner, Dawn Butler, Clive Lewis and Zarah Sultana are also expelled or deselected. In Faiza's position I would seriously consider joining the Green Party, regardless of her decision.

Some Starmer supporters don't seem to like it if you politely and respectfully disagree with them in KZfaq's comments section. I've found that some of them get rather aggressive and use insults and capital letters - like Trump supporters. I'm not sure if that is representative of Starmer supporters in general or if they are just random thugs looking for a cause? Corbyn / Momentum supporters used to get flak for being crazies, but I don't remember them being aggressive like that. My local Labour MP has also just been replaced by a non local parachuted candidate from head office. I will be voting Green as this replacement is not local and I don't know who they are. Also, I want proportional representation, and my understanding is that Starmer won't allow it even though his party members do. I also don't like this purging business and have concerns over Starmer's moral consistency.

Yep. "We all know Corbynistas are loonies because every Tory-controlled newspaper tells us so". Whereas, in fact, the mass of people whop were inspired to join Momentum when Corbyn was elected Leader were there because - finally, after 40 years of "NeoLiberal" insanity (Tories), someone was offering poliies which made things better and treated both the public and the country well rather than destroying them. In reality, the "Corbynistas" were/are very much 'ordinary' people who wanted/want the country to work on very comonsense terms. That the notion of building, rather than destroying, a Nation has been labelled "Extremist" just shows how psychopathic the forces are that have been running the country since 1979. Leve. Peace. Truth.

The "Labour files" were the biggest leak in UK political history. More documents were leaked, then ever before, showing antisemitism wasn't a big problem, but racism towards blacks and Muslims was. The documents are available for all to see, yet the main stream media didn't report the facts. No politician within the Labour party reported the facts. And even more surprising ( not really), the Conservatives didn't even mention the document leaks, them being published, or their finding. It was radio silence, and still is, to this day. What this shows is a Union between Labour ( now a right wing party), the Tories( right wing), and our entire main stream media, that's owned in it's entirety by right wing, non tax paying billionaires. They silence the truth, and report lies as fact. People still believe Jeremy is racist ffs.

I once saw this lady be very rude to Jack Straw on Newsnight purely for pronouncing her name incorrectly. The hatred and resentment towards him was awful to witness. It’s kind of satisfactory to see her humbled on the very same show (check KZfaq video) On that show, she mentioned her baby five times. She’s not the first person to be working whilst having a child - keep it professional. And playing the race card too - all the usual victim mentality tropes. Perhaps she’s just not good enough rather than being a ‘strong voice’ or being bullied as she thinks she is. She made a mistake and should accept the responsibility. No doubt she would be trying to get someone else cancelled for doing what she did if it suited her agenda. Furthermore, what’s a ‘par’y’? What’s ‘fightin’? Who is Ian Duncan ‘Smiff’? I would want someone who can act with grace and be able to speak articulately representing me. She has this snide, snarky way of speaking - an MP needs to be professional and have gravitas. She is definitely not the person.
