Hey Laowinners!
Can you find real Chinese food in America? After living in China for 10 years, I hit the road on a 3000 mile road trip with SerpentZA to see if we could find real Chinese food in the USA. From eastern to western China. From southern China to northern China, we have had it all. But most people think that Chinese food in America is fake. If you can speak a little Chinese, or are brave enough to ask, you can find real Chinese food in America.

55 years ago I got married and first thing I bought was cook books from all over the world. My mother only cooked every other weekend and I hated it ..i was going to change that. So far I haven't eaten in a Chinese restraunt around here that makes as good dim sum ,hot pot, peking duck or noodles as I do from scratch..my girls grew up eating their way around the world at my dining room table..we " traveled thru Asia, Europe, south/ central America, the United States and islands in the sun..i always thought when I retired that I would do that for real...i am glad I did all that exploring in my kitchen because now I am disabled and have major intestinal problems and can't eat many things...thank you for letting us join you.

HA! Enjoyed watching your video as I sat in my office in Jilin City...even had lunch while watching it...AND I still felt hungry watching you guys eating all that delicious food. I was first introduced to real Chinese cooking after I met my wife ( 她是东北人)。 Started visiting China in 2010 and have been living here since 2015. We get to travel all over China and enjoy the food everywhere we go. The diversity in Chinese cuisine is amazing, but there are so many dishes that weave a common thread throughout the food here as well. I laughed out loud when C-Milk commented about being called a foreigner in his own country...that is so true...I hear that often in the US when my wife and I go out to eat Chinese food or go grocery shopping at 99 Ranch. The origin story for hot pot can also be a touchy one depending on who you talk with...lol. Glad to see y'all are staying awesome on your new adventures! I think it would be interesting to see where y'all go to buy authentic ingredients for your Chinese dishes at home...depending on the area it can be difficult without relying on family "back home" or online ordering.

Wow.. I can't believe I watched this whole thing in one sitting! The food looked so so good! I'm just as surprised as you, that you often enjoyed the taste more than in China. Thank you guys!

A couple weeks ago I was shopping right across that street in Hillcrest, San Diego and we looked at the menu here, but decided to go across the street to the Indian restaurant. This is the next place I'm going to eat, hands down. I knew my sixth sense was leading me in the right direction. ;)

The activity enjoyed by best friends since the beginning of time; enjoying a meal together. Great video save for the fact I am far from any of those great meals at the moment so late at night. Your insights are fantastic. That many of the businesses have signs in traditional Chinese verses simplified which implies influence from Hong Kong speaks volumes. Ooh so hungry...what are the characters for growling stomach? Stay awesome!

Awesome show, guys. I really liked the long format. Only critique is saying that Chinese/American is the oldest fusion cuisine in the US. All early American food was fusion... English, French, Spanish, Mexican, Native. It took us awhile to develop our own food culture here. Keep up the good work! And maybe come to Chicago one of these days.

Wow so glad I came across this video, it’s really opened my eyes about Chinese food. I’m from England in the UK and I’ve never really liked Chinese food and now I know why..........................it’s because it’s not authentic Chinese food I’ve tasted!!! Some of the meals you ate I was literally drooling over and could practically taste them with your descriptions 😍 I was so surprised at the end when you were eating the Uyghar food because Ive had the pastry type dishes and kebabs at Middle Eastern restaurants here in Manchester and also Greece & Cyprus and would never have dreamt its a part of Chinese food 👌🏼I’m on a mission now to visit China town here in Manchester and hunt down the best authentic dishes. New subscriber here , I’ll be binge watching all your past videos now 😊 Ps we also have fortune cookies at every Chinese place I’ve visited 🤣

Great show guys. Watering my mouth just watching all these dishes. The "raw" fish burito already exists, serpentza.. Here in Norway some of us put smoked salmon (or gravlaks/rakfisk for the more adventurous), sour cream, fine chopped onion with some dille in a lompe (potato tortilla for my non-scandinavian friends). It's a appetizer/snack food in winter time.
