So I was terminating one of them for center channel and I thought I'll take a short video on internal structure of this cable. Interesting to see all details that are there - why on earth do that in a fake cable?

Even after auditioning 3 separate AVR's, the same ambient sound of the room was still present! That told me the unwanted faint background signal noise I had been experiencing had nothing to do with the actual units. Therefore, my attention changed to the cables. And even then It was only on the third occasion after I finally purchased shielded cables did the noise floor within my small room finally came down to satisfactory levels

Probably just as good as the 'genuine' item.

Yes, I understood this, I have two pairs of Wel Signature power cables, the connections are as you described, but in one pair the negative of the DBS is also connected to the negative terminal, while in the other pair the negative is not connected to the cable terminal

It shouldn't be connected to any of power/signal lines. Some fakes have that and I have no idea why

Can you post a diagram of how the DBS is connected to the sides of the cable? Thank you
@k4syx
@k4syx 28 күн бұрын
That's described in DBS patent docs that are freely available on the net. Basically, in each (l&r) cable there are two additional wires. One is usually at exact geometry axle of the cable and the other is in contact with the shieldind that is radial to the first one. So you have one exactly in the middle and the other around it like a circle that encapsulates everything else. And then you connect your DBS battery to them but without closing the circuit. That's all basically.

Actually I have DIY Mogami, Canare, Sommer interconnect cables :) Mogami was only one that was able to enter the XLR shootout - Canare and Sommer, though great for the price, were no match even for a cheapest fake. Mogami was okayish and I'll probably do a video on them (it's 2354 if I recall correctly, the one highly recommended for XLRs and actually sold as ready Mogami branded ICs) but still it was last place overall...

Great again! showing us the inside. But I think modern machinery is so sophisticated that they can do this, aspecialy about the printing. These cables are VERY expensive even as fakes and they know sooner or later somebody like you 🙂will show us the inside and creating myths. 🙂 It is real!? As you can see it is made from copper: so it isn't! But well made and highly interesting and with great results. sounding great. I think this is what it is: no more no less. Thanks again and if you can show us more and more about the insides too. Than all the talks come 'it is real!!' 🙂 Nonsense. that's what it is. So don't start creating fakenews here too That's not my goal, yours either I suppose? Friendly greetings again from the Nehterlands. 🙂

Hi! I think somebody there has access to some tooling and some materials, but they replace pure metals with something cheaper. Like when you'd recover old machinery from scrapyard. Nie that f.e fake rocket 88 uses old braid scheme: why fake old one instead of updated one? Why fake k2 that is no longer produced? "New" fakes - Dragons - are another story. I have no idea what these are. But there's something shady going on definitely....

Have you contacted AudioQuest on this matter? I do not care much for their cables, but I do support their rights to keep the company logo, designs, and patents protected. Would this not be a pattern infringement?
@k4syx
@k4syx 25 күн бұрын
Yes, using the logo and brand name is a steal. AQ is pretty much aware of this as this has been going for at least half of the decade or longer. AudioQuest afaik is offering a service to check any cable if it's real in case you'd but some used and was wondering about that. The catch here is they do destroy the ones they'll find fake (which is fair in my book)

Yeah, it's smth shady going on and now I'm pretty sure who's actually full of bs. Let's face it, AudioQuest are the kings of snake oil when it comes to cables. By the looks of it, this is probably a genuine AudioQuest cable and now we found out that the whole "pure, solid silver" story is just a fairy tale. Indeed, printing the inside wires would make no sense whatsoever, even for the most skilled forger.

Looks like you are paying for many layers of insulation and labeling which is completely pointless and makes the overall cable much thicker than it need be. A malty strand copper conductor of a large gauge is all that matters. Having a shield around the cable adds pointless capacitance, if anything could make the amplifier/specker combination sound slightly different. A long length cable could even make the amplifier ring a little. I think a touch of snake oil is oozing out a little here. PS. Don't forget to raise the cable 4 inches off the ground, then you will become a REAL audiophile completely saturated in snake oil!

Isn’t insulation protecting the signal from interference from other cables (esp. power cables)? It’s usually messy at the back of audio gear racks.
@onnonugteren2935
@onnonugteren2935 28 күн бұрын
nonsense too, you clearly don't know what you are talking about, in fact you deny that there are differences at all between cables. I have listened to so many different cables that I can tell just by serious listening and in a A and B comparison. Also after!! burning in times. So it takes in practice many years and hours of listening in various stages to be able to do this at all. That's why it's so great that he is doing this and share it with us.

@@onnonugteren2935 Have I been reading your reply correctly? Are you telling me that cables need to be burned in?? I have been in the audio business for 60 years, in retail, manufacturing, design. I think you are drowning in your own snake oil. The only thing that's important in speaker cable are low resistance and low capacitance between the conductors. However, if you think differently that's fine, some people think gods are real!!
