OMG this happened in my hometown(I don’t live there anymore)! Just searched some news(in Chinese) and the response from the customer. The customer said she has purchase history in the LV store. She bought this bag and the second time she carried it, her friend thinks it’s a fake. She went back the the LV store but they said it’s definitely authentic. She then went for third party to check the bag and they said it’s fake. She tried to communicate with LV but they just simply dismissed her so she went to the court but didn’t expect she will win the case. She said she provided the receipt, her point and purchase history, the serial number matched the bag she has. The court said LV failed to provide evidence showing the logistic of the bag in and out of their warehouse/storage. I bet it’s a inside job…

Maybe client purchased real bag. Went home… returned it afterwards with a fake and perhaps sa accepted it and now it’s in inventory?

At our local jewelry stores all the rolex’s are fakes that are on display and then if you decide to purchase they send a runner to the off site storage.

someone recently called a jewelry story asking for a specific Rolex, went in, asked to see it and when the sales associate wasnt looking, they pulled out a REPLICA of that rolex from their pocket and pocketed the REAL rolex, then said they had to go get their wallet and left. it was like $22,000 or something

Similar case happened at Hermes in Jakarta few years ago. Hermes later found out that one of their staff swapped the real with the fake bag. Then the SA sold the real one to others privately outside the store.

Also, i received an SLG from gucci as a gift a few years ago and went into the store to ask if they could authenticate it and they said "we actually DONT authenticate our items" i was like wow. So possibly someone could buy a real item and return a fake and then someone else buys that fake. its bad. ive heard that alot of S.A's from different brands wouldnt be able to tell if an item is a replica or not, thats how good fakes are

I worked retail for like 6 years and As of late we would have people who bought designer clothes or expensive brands, carefully take the manufacturer labels and tags off and then SEW THEM ONTO OTHER CLOTHES! we also had some people buy legitimate gucci and versace etc and then try to return the exact item's DUPE/FAKE with the tags from the authentic ones. They ALWAYSSSS got extremely defensive and called us racist and threatened us, but we LITERALLY knew what the AUTHENTIC items looked like because WE sold them! (and they also would try to return cheap items with expensive price tags that they clearly switched themselves but thats a whole other story lol)

Yes, had an aunt working in one of high end fashion department in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. In the eighties and nineties when there was none or hardly any replica's .Once had a woman taking loads of clothing in to fitting room, trying everything. Ended up buying nothing. And when she, my aunt, retrieved the clothes to hang them back. She saw that all the brand labels were cut of from the neck. Probably to sown in to cheap clothes to pass of as designer to her friends and family.

hmmmm heres my story! i bought an item from spring in the city collection. the corner edges glazing chipped off or came off or started lifting up within 3 weeks. i brought it in the store then mananger exchanged the bag for another brand new bag. now i'm wondering if they sold me a fake one lol

I ordered a few items from the spring in the city collection. I ordered a marshmallow bag but the lining was bugging me so I ordered an additional marshmallow (sunrise pastel) and when it came it had loose threads on the outside and scratches on the gold hardware! I called LV and queried if it was a fake. Do you know if the warehouse checks authenticity (via the chips) before issuing refunds? If they don’t then it’s clear to see how fakes may be infiltrating the system. That’s in the UK...

OMG! I’ve been waiting for this video. LVMH implemented digital technology to replace date codes but it does not protect customers as it is only readable by a device in their stores and sales associates not supposed to disclose the information from the chip, while date codes were easily identifiable and made authentication simple when matched to the craftsmanship and quality of the bag, but I guess with quality in the gutters at Vuitton nowadays an easy to copy date code won’t differentiate the products from fakes.LOL Other brands been using hologram tags, chips and scannable codes in their products for their customers to verify authenticity before purchase and in my opinion highly counterfeited brands with easy to fake product lines like Vuitton should definitely have that. For an example Fendi been using RFID chips for over a decade, Versace has chips and unique codes that provides and collects all sorts of information to verify authenticity and the integrity of their supply/distribution chain and retailers, but in its own simplicity a date code has never failed a true quality product because the craftsmanship of an original design of unique qualities made without cutting corners can’t be faked.

I think it’s a professional shopper, I heard of this in the United States, a lady would buy a real bag from neimans and then she would return the fake bags, so if they don’t pay attention or the employee can’t tell the difference, they will put the fake bag back on the shelf to be sold. She apparently did this over 100 times before being caught!

I love handbags but I cannot afford luxury handbags. Love watching videos about them. Love looking at the bags online. To ease my craving for bags I content myself with searching for bags, which I can afford, and I have some lovely bags, they might not come from grand designer houses or cost a fortune but I still love them. As for quality, well, hearing some of the horror stories on KZfaq about quality issues, flaws and faults I don’t want to risk spending a fortune only to find my bag is either damaged or does not wear well. And now there are all the dangers of buying fakes. I know buying from eBay or other Preloved sites is risky but if you can’t walk into a boutique and be certain that the bag is genuine where can you guarantee you have bought the real thing?

Navy47 I totally agree. I think this is why superfakes exploded. When Burberry went to China for their canvas I think everyone else did too, but as you say, they finish it elsewhere (France, Spain, US) so the tag doesn’t say Made in China. And if it’s a 1:1 copy some sales associates might not be able to tell and then accept them as returns from someone running a scam, then resell them. I wonder how long before this permeates luxury house websites… shop now peeps!

@@clala1106 I have a wallet from lv....and I seen a in live "fake" lol..the fake one, I could not tell the difference and I do detailed inspections.....I mean hardcore and NADA. so....the one that was "fake" was made better ...lol 😂incredible but again I do feel all these companies do the same send all the product to china finish in Europe or USA and the sell "authentic" LV Burberry etc......cannot tell the difference at all..I use magnifying glasses etc.too !

also I got a bag from LV .....got bag from a la "fake" store......same everything ...and I mean every single thing....every....single detail from the leather to the metal stamps, inside ...even the interior has numbers in leather etc......same exact product....I spent one week inspecting and all be darn....I couldn't tell noting from the species of material and anything....in fact I was confused as to what was "fake" and the "real" one...(aka $$$$ more money ) I tested for everything and its all the same substance , materials buttons, hardware so?? my conclusion is that these products that are fake arent fake but made in china and lv supplies all the raw material and then these bags are then flown into EU and USA to finish for the "made in " whatever ...to claim authenticity aka made in France spain etc.....

All bags have microchips even before 2021. I scanned my 2016 bag 2017 and 2019 bags, the NFC tools detects a chip in all of my bags, I have only like 2 pieces out of my collection of 32 pieces that don’t have a chip. This is how they were making sure the item was real if returned. I think smaller stores don’t have the same tools.

Was the SA questioned? Seems likely SA involved? Also question why buyer had bag authenticated when chip could be scanned at store. Perhaps SA and customer both pulled off a scam and shared the payoff. I’ve been watching too much true crime

Was this bag purchased prior to the implementation of the chips? I believe I read somewhere that the bag was purchased in 2020, but lawsuit was just now awarded. I would imagine that it’s much more difficult to do this now with chips.

My mom recently bought me a never full for my bday when I took it back for return 10 days later (never took the bag out of the slip even) the manager claimed it was a heavily used bag and they could not take it back. Long story short they sold me a used bag and claimed they never carry old bags- that bag they scanned was from 2022 and we bought it 4/2023. They refused to take it back or even trust us. Has this happened before? What should we do at this point? According to their “video” the bag was inspected by the sales person but they couldn’t apparently show us that video either. At this point I’m sure one of the employees switched it out and we ended up being the Victim.

My wife ordered a bag through their website and received a fake bag. Luckily they accepted her return but did not give reason why the bag was fake to begin with. Fast forward just last week we went into the LV store at south coast plaza and she was handed a fake while checking out some Palm Springs MM backpack. So fraudulent. LV is selling fakes makes me scratch my head. What else is fake….lol

I remember going to a Fendi shop here in Dubai a few years ago and trying on a pair of Colibri's. I was turned off of the squeaky sound the shoes were making as I was walking on them! I said to myself that shoes at this price should not do this. I did see online that there are fake Colibri's out there. So I told the SA that this is not right these shoes should not be squeaky... she gave me a look like well that's the way they are...I said no thank you! I recently went to another Fendi boutique and tried on another pair, and they did not squeak at all. I'm convinced that they do sell fakes in the real stores at times... Just depends if they think you are naive and can get away with it... Listen to your intuition. If it feels off...there is a reason for it. Go to another boutique and compare before buying if you can . Thank you Dacob.

They are buying a REAL bag, the SA’s are not chancing being dishonest under their store camera. The thief customer is swapping it for fake to then make a stink; keep the real free and gets a full refund.

HRH Collection does have a point tho. Fakes are reasonably priced for sometimes the same quality. However she does buy legit perfume and not dupes. She wears La Colle Noire by Dior.

all the bag certificates numbers codes should corresspond to irreplacable chip id number then you know your receipt correspond with only the one exact bag you bought

Hi Dacob! I do have one friend that has her bags authenticated right after she purchases them from anywhere Preloved or new. She says she does it for peace of mind. So I guess there are people who are obsessive about that but she’s the only person I know that does that🤷♀️

I’ve heard something similar in the US but with Christian Louboutin shoes many years ago. It usually happens with a third party shop such as a well known department store like Neiman Marcus, Saks Fifth Avenue (becuz their staffs are less likely to recognise the authenticity). So what happens, the customer will buy Loubotin shoes in these department stores and later return them with fake ones. I wonder if Louis Vuitton staffs really brought the real one back home and swapped it with a fake one, don’t they have security cameras in the shop? We all know banks have plenty monitoring the tellers 😬 Just googled about this case. Louis Vuitton will appeal to the court🍿you might give us an update in a few months 😅

exactly, which person would be so insane to sue a massive luxury brand if that was not true, it is obvious someone at LV replaced a real bag wieth a fake "!It is LV thought they have no chip/recod numbers on goods they sell, it iseems to be a logical thing to do!

This sounds like a scam. Who buys a bag from the boutique and then goes to get it authenticated? I'd only do that if I bought it from a 3rd party.

No. They don’t use microchips as part of the purchase process. The chips are for repair purposes.

You alluded in your video that LV may use the microchips to authenticate pieces prior to sale and that’s absolutely not the case, hence my comment. Not sure why you are sending such a condescending response when you didn’t even know prior to my comment.

All new LV bags are now made with microchips. I ordered one online from the lv website and didn’t like it and decided to take it back to LV for a different bag. My bag had to be authenticated by microchip first as well as them looking up my purchase in the system and verifying my receipt and the condition of the bag. Only the older bags from previous years have the code number sewn inside the bag underneath the pocket with the date code. The new bags have the microchips embedded into the bag itself. The microchip isn’t displayed its only detected by scanning the bag with a device. It also isn’t located in the same spot in every bag purposely, to protect the integrity of the bag. If you purchase a bag from the lV right now it will have a microchip in it. This began in the year of 2021.

@@rival121 Perhaps I misunderstood you somehow. Generally I guess they wouldn’t scan the bag to sell you a bag because remember it comes from their shipment center if its not a return so perhaps they would see it as redundant to scan the bag upon its arrival. But on the other hand i’m thinking they do scan it because that may be how in the system there able to see what they do and don’t have in stock in real time. Also, usually they take the bag to the back anyway to rap the bag up so I suppose it is possible that they scan the bag before delivering it to you. I’ve noticed that most people ask for their bag to be fully rapped up for the experience so perhaps they scan it in the back just before rapping it. It does make sense for them to scan it in front of you for a return because a customer could always argue they somehow swapped the bag out should the back not be authentic. 🤔I’ve personally never seen anyone walk purchase a LV item and the sales associate pull the item from behind the county ring them up in front of them and then hand them the bag. Usually let the customer pick the item look at it and upon being satisfied with the item they disappear in the back with the bag and then come back out with the bag rapped up and complete the purchase. It could possibly just be the culture of the store and how the sales associates are trained in customer service. For an example, some stores take the keys out the pouches and the cardboard ect off the bag when it comes in from shipment before stocking it behind the corner because thats what their managers instruct them to do but some stores dont they just put the bag in the dust bag but leave everything else as is.

A Heated Mess , Use to work for LV on one of her vlogs she siad everyone had there bags checked at the end of a working day .So it has to be the one who is in charge of the LV shop who is doing a inside Job. If you buy a bag from the store why would you get it authenticated. Its really scary ❤

Since LV seems to thoroughly check the staff before and after they leave the work place, it looks like it must be the customer who must have swapped the genuine stuff with a super fake.

super fakes are 1.1 with the real ones. So only lv can actually some times can tell

Dacob, some shops are "franchise" eg in Vienna or in airports.maybe that's the Case. So I am the owner, i get the real bag, get commission like 1000 Euros. I sell the fake one, get commission, keep the real and sell it somewhere else. Get another 9000 Seems that i am a criminal.
