I agree for $20 it's a great knife what I cannot condone is how they steal intellectual property logos and pass off fakes as real. They troll Etsy and copy very creative peoples Ideas then make the same thing for 1/4 the price. Let's face it the Chinese love to steal from the USA and others too and get away with it all the time. We should blame ourselves because we keep buying from them. We should not let companies outright steal from US Companies and we allow it all the time. If they want to sell in the USA. I have seen those on Temu and the blur just a tiny bit of Benchmades logo and box if you did that on Etsy you would be banned ASAP on Amazon it would take forever but they wound take it down but because Temu is based in China they are getting away with it. Not sure what the Department of our government should be all shutting them down, but the US Patent Office ,or Dept of Commerce, or someone should be doing it sooner than later. I am in no way against China there are many great companies that don't do this stuff and make fantastic products like xTool my favorite laser company but we should demand they stop doing this if they want to sell here. It's the least we can do to protect our own great companies like Benchmade and small business creators on Etsy.

The steel is clearly not high quality but for a beat around knife I would have paid $30 bucks but in general I hate people who steal and copy good companies products they hurt that companies reputation and employees because many people would probably never know it’s a fake and if it falls apart in a few months it could hurt Benchmades reputation as people may think this knife sucks and not know it’s not the real product. I have even heard of people who collect the fakes but in general I do not like it. Amazon even walks the line I have seen clones on their site that say things like “Bug Out Style” knife but at least it’s not using their logo but even using a name that’s probably copyrighted is wrong but sadly this is the current marketplace.

i got a fake 940 and freek to see which i would like better before buying a real one, used the 940 to cut up a fish for fishing bait and the edge completely rolled over. the freek seems better but i haven't had a real chance to test it yet other than opening boxes

I would never buy a fake knife. You gotta be an absolute scumbag to sell fakes, and I don’t support scumbags even if there is value in their products.

A few months ago I bought Bugout on sale for $130. Yes, the steel is s30v, but in the version from Benchmade it is perfectly hardened steel. So it's better to look for the best deal at the price than to buy a fake. You can buy a fake only to understand the ergonomics of a knife handle, but certainly not for $50.🤣

Sad but true, but on the other hand, I’ve also seen several American companies use their intellectual rights to stifle their competition and take advantage their customers. I also don’t like to support large corporations that have lost their values and will do anything for a buck.

How true. Benchmade isn't making knives that I want to buy as soon as I see them. I understand that what I want in a knife may not be what everyone else wants. If they made a new axis AFCK with some interesting steel, I'd buy it in a heartbeat. A magnacut AFCK for example. A new CPM-M4 Skirmish or Rukus. A new Automatic Bedlam in a high-end steel.

I could not agree more! Present day BM is dedicated to ripping off the "edc" community that the vast majority don't know better. They promote the bugout (my opinion $100 knife in its best configuration) and sell the pos for well over $200, spydco, is where it's at. Atleast spyderco takes blade geometry, heat treatment, and last place of importance type of steel. It's pretty sad when spyderco's house steel vg-10 shits on benchmades version of s90v a real quality steel that bm does not treat to its fullest potential. Guess they figure most "edc" guys will never know the difference lol all they need to see is e.g. cruwear or s90v.

Not on this one the lock was great and was very smooth the biggest thing that stood out was the paint on the blade finish. Compared to the real one the finish was not great. The real ones coating was A+++ but sadly the fake will fool many people IMO
