I’m seeing all these comments about how people think it’s ok to buy the pirated/fake one because the real one is too expensive. So essentially these people are saying “I support BTS, unless it’s too expensive then I’m going to give my money to people using BTS work and images without their consent.” BTS works hard to make this content and they deserve to get paid for it. Don’t contribute to people stealing from the boys.

You can suspect it’s fake when: 1) Chinese is written on most pages of the album/photo-book 2) get too many filler items such as extra stickers, photo-cards, other item that you certainly didn’t order, or items that don’t originally come with the album 3) there is no latest KOMCA sticker on the back cover of the album (though, recent BTS albums sold in North America might not include that) 4) the CD does not come inside or attached to the album

I can see from comments that these album packs are normal in some countries, and they’re called “gift bags”... but ultimately the reality is that it’s reproducing copyrighted material. I understand that in some countries that you may not be able to purchase official goods, or you may not be able to afford them. I’ve often seen similar “gift bags” advertised on social media before and wondered what was in them. This is personal but if they were priced the same, even though the “gift bag” has more things, after seeing the contents, I would not feel satisfied with it. If I like an artist, if I like an author, I want to purchase their album or their book. Because although the proportion that the artist or author gets paid from my purchase may be little, I still want to pay them for their work.

Big Hit invest a lot of efforts and creativity to design the album. They are always top quality. On the big Hit website generally the contents are written and shown . So you can confirm and assure yourself when you receive the album

From a fellow I-ARMY myself (been collecting Bangtan albums since 2015 ✌🏼), here are some tips (disclaimer : these are the methods I've used and they may be a bit biased, so follow with a grain of salt) : - In general : If your gut feeling tells you something is fishy, the first thing you need to do is reverse image search the pictures used by the store you're buying from. If the first result is from a different original website, that means the picture was stolen. Some scammers are also not smart, and forget to crop or censor the original watermark, so be on the lookout for that as well. - If you live in Southeast Asia (what's up fellow SEA armys) : sellers with high ratings (no lower than 4.5 stars!) and an extensive order history on e-commerce stores like Shopee or tokopedia are the most reliable. They also often have Instagram pages that you can also order through. They should have detailed methods of communication with their customer service visible on all of their pages. Some of these sellers also have their own website! But these days they usually always have an accompanying Instagram page AT LEAST and 70-80% of the time their own e-commerce page too. I feel like southeast asian fans are lucky in this regard that the Korean pop culture wave is so huge here (and has been huge for decades now) that there is a higher demand, hence it's easier to grab a hold of merchandise. - If you live in other regions : First, if you can afford to, order from the weverse shop or amazon. This is your safest bet. I've also read reviews that the packages come quite fast. Now of course these days it'll take longer due to the virus situation, but apparently before all this their shipping was pretty fast and immaculate. Now. If you live far away from Korea and can't afford the shipping, look for trustworthy regional GO (Group Order) managers on social media. The most trusted social media for this would be Twitter in my opinion. Essentially what GO managers do is they make large orders to the official stores so the cost of shipping is thinned out. GO managers work in regions, so you will usually find people offering services as Europe GO managers, US GO managers, and in Asia/South America/Etc. they're usually per specific country. At the end of the day you will still have to pay for shipping from where the GO manager is based in to your house, but it will be significantly less than what you would've paid had you made a lone order on the weverse shop. You need to research each GO manager carefully! They usually retweet reviews of their services, people will post photos of their orders and comment on whether or not they did a good job. One obvious red flag : if you look up their username on twitter and the following keyword is something like 'scammer' or 'exposed' then maybe don't buy from them haha E-commerce sellers are basically GO managers as well, but with much larger order quantities so the shipping costs are significantly lessened. - For both of the options I mentioned above -> besides the added shipping cost, of course there will be a bit of a price markup to pay the e-commerce seller or GO manager for their services. This mark up should NOT be exorbitant. For example if the album is originally $15 (yes this is how much the albums cost in Korea), you should not be paying $40 (before shipping)! Recognize unfair pricing when you see it. - If you have a local music store that sells Kpop albums, take a look! Of course don't do it now, stay at home haha but you can look on their website and see if they have them readily available. But keep in mind that 99% of the time these stores won't have posters or any other limited edition goodies (and I've heard some countries even put rules on which photo card can be distributed per album, like I know UK stores only allow ot7 photo cards [apparently the country has a rule about not allowing surprise content in commercial merchandise or something] so Bighit sends a special batch to them), and unfortunately they do mark up the price quite a bit (this annoys me too). - If you cannot afford an authentic album now and you're swayed by the copycat : don't. This is not the same thing as buying a counterfeit tour hoodie or even a fake lightstick. Their music is their life, their love and their passion. They pour their heart and soul into this. If you can't afford to buy one or have a spotify/Apple Music subscription and you listen to it for free on youtube or Soundcloud, it's fine! I know what it's like to be young without a bank account, but with so much love and adoration for Bangtan. But it's different when you voluntarily give your money to someone who pirated the result of their blood, sweat, tears and love with the intent on gaining money for themselves. If you really want one, save that money up, buy an authentic album. And if you can't afford to buy a new one : buy secondhand! The magic isn't loss or any less. I've bought secondhand albums before and I've cherished them just the same. Some fellow army might be needing extra money and you will be helping them out, or someone who's not a fan anymore wants to give them a good home instead of throwing them away. They are still precious 💜 I hope my comment helped someone out there!
