The heavier the flywheel, the more time it takes to stop it's rotation if the power from the electric motor to it is stopped (newton's law motion) and as far as the flywheel keeps turning, the alternator will generate electricity. This electricity repowers the motor and the cycle continues. If you unplug the motor, it will take about a minute for the flywheel to stop turning therefore your alternator will be generating electricity for that time. Do your calculations right and you will get it right.

I believe with the correct components it is possible. A permanent magnet generator producing maximum output at 500 RPM with a 3 to 5 hp, 2000 RPM AC motor a 100Kg flywheel plus the correct size of pulleys and a proper starting system it will work. Allow it to develop speed and full output before applying any load.
