That's probably how Bucky felt too. He didn't realize he was dreaming until he woke up and it terrified him because for a second he may have believed he reverted to his Hydra persona.

Bucky is scared of notebooks because everytime somebody pulled out a notebook they would read those words and triggered his villain side that chas to obey them. It's a trauma image for him.

I really like Bucky's story in this episode, showing how he is struggling with the Winter Soldier past especially with killing that guys son and having nightmares about that which is definitely a cool twist, can't wait for them to meet up next episode

Based on the first episode alone, it's pretty evident that Bucky can easily do a solo mini series or even a movie. There's so much depth to his character in terms of drama from grief and redemption. There's a lot to mine from it.

I've always been indifferent about Falcon and Bucky but the fact that they're actually touching on the catastrophic real life consequences of the blip has me sold and I am ALL in for this. The scene with the loans rep is totally what would happen in America, using the blip as "the bank's" excuse to not give them the loan. That's grade A social commentary

He does come off as that excited kid meeting a hero, but I felt a little sus pre-beatdown because he seems to feel a bit more sympathetic to the flagsmasher cause rather than more expository. Post beatdown tho, he got his shit kicked in so either he's incredibly dedicated enough to get his face messed up and is a good liar, or he's genuinely an ally.

Honestly, I think it's just the reality of the situation. There's a whole wall at Langley devoted to people who lost their lives in service to our country. They don't get the Smithsonian display. There's a difference between the death of a spy and the death of an icon, and while that may not be fair, it is realistic. Somewhere in some bar, or backyard, or random living room is someone drinking to the memory of someone we've never even heard of, doing something that only they could do in that one moment. It doesn't make it less important...it's just not as poignant on a national level.

Thank you for mentioning this parallel too. I wouldn't be surprised if the Flagsmashers were associated with Hydra somehow. Maybe using Zola's version of the super soldier serum that made Bucky? Or maybe a US version? Remember everyone, Isaiah Bradley was only one of 300 men that was experimented on to recreate the super soldier program. I have a feeling that Erin Kellymans character has something to do with that. Maybe a descendant?

"cat fight"... I loved how Bucky stops the mechanical arm on this cat from moving. Seems like there is some symbolism involved in this moment that might be worth mentioning. After all, Bucky shares the same mechanical arm that the cat has. He once lacked the ability to stop what his arm (and the winter soldier programming) made him do. I really enjoy these moments in the recent Marvel films. These little moments are deeper than they appear to be on the surface and I love that!

Hello. I’m Japanese and watching this from Tokyo! The gold cat statue that Bucky tries to get the paw to stop moving is called a “Maneki-neko” or "lucky cat" the paw is “beckoning” customers to come to bring coins and good fortune. (In Japan the “come here” gesture is over handed cos the underhanded gesture done in the Western world is considered rude) Pokémon’s Meowth is inspired by this cat. I really love how much these Marvel series are addressing difficult issues like grief, regret, trauma and psychological fragility. It's powerful storytelling that works on many layers. This is why the MCU is so much more powerful and successful than the DCEU - it still fundamentally connects with the humanity of its characters and deals realistically with the institutions with which our lives and actions are interwoven. @@chuck1313 The Snyder Cut was really good, but not better than all. But is better than some & is something different than the MCU projects. But do not compare both. MCU symbolises hope and has a lighter tone and lots of humour mixed with darker tones. DCEU has a darkertone with a bit of humour. They are on opposite ends of the spectrum

I don't think it was equal to Infinity War or Endgame, but I did like it better than the first Avengers or Age of Ultron. I'm super disappointed the Snyder Cut set up sequels and other storylines that we'll never get to see though. :(

Back in civil war the fact that Bucky remembered all his targets and missions were seen as a terrible thing but if he didn’t remember them than he probably wouldn’t have been able to have his list and help arrest people like Atwood. So if Bucky didn’t remember these missions than a lot of former hydra agents or criminals would have gotten away. So it is more of a good thing that he remembers his pain because he can use that to put these people away

I think when Cap says “It isn’t” may actually be true. If Cap lived in another part of the multiverse, then he could have trained the Falcon with that shield and maybe something happened to that Falcon and he returns to this reality to pass on the shield. Just my thoughts on it.

Bucky being triggered by the cat with the arm.. One could say that that arm is the defining feature of that cat. Coincidentally, it's the arm on the same side as Bucky's Vibranium arm. So I'm imagining it triggered him because it reminded him of his own defining arm, which of course has tons of bad memories attached to it.
