These are the final minutes to “The Avenging Angel”, the fourth season finale for the 1981-90 CBS drama “Falcon Crest”. This was the 30th episode of the fourth season (98th overall). It also the first appearance of Celeste Holm as Anna Rossini. The episode originally aired on Friday, May 24, 1985.
Though not in these scenes, this episode marks the final appearances of Kate Vernon as Lorraine Prescott Cumson, and Jonathan Frakes as Damon Rossini.
For Angela Channing (Jane Wyman) to assume Chase Gioberti (Robert Foxworth) and Richard Channing (David Selby) to go bankrupt, after a competitor to win his bid, her scheme is to regain control of Falcon Crest will fall through. She has no idea about Cassandra Wilder (Anne Archer), who holds the liens on their shares.
The first scene involves Chase being accepted by Connie Giannini (Carla Borelli) to become a partner in Giannini Winery, while working at the winery. Maggie (Susan Sullivan) enters in and catches them in a celebratory embrace. Furious, she'll also be moving out that evening, and Chase vehemently tells her to go, eventually.
The second scene switches to Falcon Crest where Cassandra Wilder and her mother, Anna Rossini (Celeste Holm), arrive for their much anticipated vengeance against Angela, who took control of the Rossini vineyard, which lead Anna’s late husband Dominick Rossini to set fire to their home where he burned to death when Cassandra and Damon were children. Cassandra announced that she owns two-thirds of Falcon Crest, making her Angela’s new partner.
The last scene switches to Richard’s house where he mourns the loss of his stepdaughter, Lorraine (Kate Vernon), and a mysterious figure activates a detonator, connected to a clock on the wall. The figure escapes without being seen by Richard. Maggie drops by to offer her condolences and cries in his arms. Maggie and Richard comfort each other, one evening, until an explosion rips through his house, trapping them.
