Brian Landers Well, like I said, it’s a mutually beneficial relationship when done right. Falconry isn’t like training wild birds to eat birdseed out of your hand; it’s a unique kind of relationship with an animal that is only semi-captive, and is wild (ie. no genetic domestication whatsoever). I don’t romanticize such relationships, because a fundamental part of falconry is not getting overly attached. And while it’s arguable that solitary predators like raptors will never feel the same desire to be friends as us ultra-social humans, birds of prey nonetheless mate for life, and are definitely capable of developing feelings of trust and camaraderie towards certain humans who have put the work in to earn it.

@@charlieapples9373 While watching this video I wondered about the falcons that have been used a lot in movies in recent times. How do the actors develop that level of trust, when they are not the primary care-giver of the bird?

Same for me. I watched some interview on another channel and the falconry guy says he was married for 16ish years and he and his wife found out falconry when they married. He was excited and his wife was “eh”. After 10 years they had the chance to finally start falconry. I hope i can be stable enough to start falconry one day, preferably not too late :D

As a former teacher, my opinion is that what you describe is not education at all. It's just socialisation, which is also important, but education is the development of a whole human individual, assisted by parents, teachers, and others. Most of us are lucky if we manage to pick up a bit of education almost by accident! Parents or guardians are the most important people since they teach the child from infancy, intentionally or not, and provide whatever opportunities the child finds for early self-development. I was extremely fortunate that my father was very fond of books, science, literature, music, and many other things: I learned an enormous amount from him. I could write a treatise on the true nature of education, but I'm sure this is the wrong forum for that! LOL :)

@@moviemad56 what you said doesn't disprove my point, just added arguments around it. School still sucks. Outside factors are also being forced to suck, like both parents needing to work all day to make ends meat which gives them no time with kids. Meanwhile you have tv and music brainwashing them into becoming little hookers by the age of 9. Its all intentional. We are being farmed, unless you happen to have been born into money or just freedom, such as with your self.

His name is goos. He is a pink and grey, we have had him for around 11 years now. His past owners obviously said a lot of horrible things, bc when we found him, he would mimmick coughing, and said phrases like, call the police, come here baby, and keep your fng shirt on. There are a lot of messed up people, these people were trying to force him into the wild, when he never would have survived. So many broken bones 😔😭

They don't understand or enjoy stroking. They tend see our hands the same as their feet, so anything where I would wave my hand or come at them from behind (towards their back) is going to be seen as aggressive. They do however, with training, understand that my hands are neither weapons or food, and tolerate me checking equipment/lifting up their feet to check for issues etc.
