As we near the end of our season, we’ve started clearing and cleaning up the garden in preparation for next year's flowers.
While this isn't always the prettiest of activities- it's something that needs to be done and so today I thought I'd share with you our process for how we put the garden to rest.

Great video. I was debating pulling up my landscape fabric; I think you convinced me to roll it up. I'm embarrassed to say I pulled/cut all my plants by hand and WONT be doing that again next year.

I’m loving watching your videos…I’m just starting a teeny tiny backyard cutting flower garden as my year 0 and your videos have been so helpful. I’m in zone 6a just over the border in Ontario 🇨🇦 so all of your advice is spot on. One newbie question…when dealing with a very small growing space, do you plant your cool hardy annuals in September, along with tulip bulbs, removing some of the summer flowers to make room…then in spring, removing the tulips and hardies to make room for summer annuals. I’m struggling to figure out when to do the switchovers knowing I have very limited room to grow and still wanting flowers during those switchover times. Thanks so much!

Another fabulous and informative video! Thank you so much for sharing your experience. Do you worry about powdery mildew spores hanging out over the winter in the landscape fabric or netting that you reuse?

Great video! Thank you for sharing your process. This was my first season flower farming and my end of season flower garden takedown was very similar to yours, except for that horta nova netting. Mine was a struggle. I'll definitely be doing that differently next year.

Oh no😥 some of your flowers still looks ok. Like snapdragons. Do you dig out your dahlias tubers?

Yes we do dig our dahlia tubers as it’s too cold for them to overwinter here in Zone 5b. We posted a video on how we do that not too long ago if you’re interested in seeing that process ✨💛

I never thought of brush hugging the spent flowers. I'll be trying that. Also I think I used hortonova on a bunch of flowers that probably didn't require it. I'll be rethinking that next year. Which ones are fine just to corral?

I like to corral bushier type plants like our zinnias, cosmos, marigolds- basically anything that isn't either a snapdragon or lisianthus :) If you scroll back a few videos, we did film our process for staking and netting our cut flowers- if you'd like more info.. best of luck!
