Wizards and Warriors starts a new animated fantasy documentary lore video series on the world of Dragon Age. In the waning years of the Blessed Age, reptilian wings blanketed the sun. Dragons, thought to have been hunted to extinction centuries earlier, reappeared in the skies above the world of men and devastated the countryside of Orlais and Nevarra. Reading this as an epochal omen, Faustine II, Divine of the Chantry, declared a new age: the Dragon Age, which in her holy wisdom, she predicted would be a time of violence, upheaval, and dramatic change. Thus begins the period in which the titularly named Dragon Age games take place, yet this is not where the history of its world begins. In our first video we talked on the vibrant and tumultuous continent of Thedas, explored the immortal hubris of ancient Elvhenan, and the rise of the Blood Mages of Tevinter ( • Fall of Elvhenan - Ris... ), while the second episode described how these mages brought the Blight upon the world and how the First Blight started ( • How the Blights Starte... ). The third episode will talk about the religious and political response as prophetess Andraste and her husband Maferath declare war against the Tevinter Empire and lead an Exalted March against it, changing the Thedas forever ( • Rise of Andraste - Exa... ). Andraste's death made her a martyr, allowing her Chantry to take over the whole of Thedas ( • How the Chantry took o... ). The confluence of these events allowed the humans to continue growing in power and led by the Chantry they were able to conquer the elves, destroying their homeland - the Dales.

@@Tiabliaj1989Hey there fren - cosmere is the universe that the mistborn stuff is based in. I personally (and this is just my opinion) feel like it has the depth of a twilight saga and is deep into the "lame" category when it comes to its story arc. A few people around here like it. But, I would there is limited production schedule for the producers of this channel and if you go back and look, the viewership on the mistborn / cosmere stuff just isn't worth the time when they could invest in something more people enjoy and is actually interesting. This is a great channel and I won't bail on it by any means, but to wait a whole week, excited about what WaW will put out next and it being ends up being Cosmere stuff is the equivalent to a secret decoder ring telling me to drink more Ovaltine.

Honestly I don't believe there's any reason to doubt the validity of what Solas says about them. He changed the fabric of the world to imprison them with the only one he speaks highly of being Mythal. He has no reason to lie after his true identity becomes clear and even before that he (at best) omitted truths rather than lie outright. I don't think its a matter of perspective either. The Evanuris oppressed everyone else, made slaves of many and hoarded power which are evil, tyrannical acts akin to Tevinter. Perhaps some of the Evanuris were not completely evil. They may have been morally grey like Solas but as I said, his extreme actions against them implies they were a force that had to be contained if not destroyed.
@ConnorLonergan

It's confirmed that the Evenuris enslaved elves, and we have records documenting slaying titans for lyrium and something else. Not to mention, they publicly proclaimed themselves to be gods. So I would say they are as evil as Solas says, or at least damn close to it.

@@khalduras784 She was furious about a betrayal. And its not stated which one. I dont see the Evanuris as a collective doing something together. Thats not like them. That makes so sense to me.

I am not sure if that would have helped in the long run. As long as the elves refused to bow before Andraste (which was their right) there was always a growing possibility that a greater conflict would break out, since they were seen as an obstacle to the return of the maker. If the Dales helped Orlais in times in need, his emperors and nobles would not be too keen to help the chantry. Instead, they would focus on Tevinter and his black divine. Im sure.

I blame both the Elves and the Humans for this conflict. There will always be agitators causing trouble on both sides and its up to their leaders to maintain cooler heads and keep the peace. But both sides wanted to fight so that's exactly what happened and it ended badly for both but... I think the elves got it worse. Being a leader means punishing your own people for stepping out of line and both the elves and humans failed in their responsibilities. I also put particular blame on the elves for not helping during the blight as the darkspawn would have killed the elves too once they finished off the others. The failure of the elven leadership to see the existential threat the darkspawn posed is their greatest failing and its no wonder the other peoples of Thedas questioned the elves' honor afterwards. But I’m mostly siding with the elves as after their second kingdom fell, the humans basically forced the Elves to be second class citizens despite the fact that their prophet took down the Tevinter Imperium and freed the Elves from slavery, making them just as bad as any Tevinter mage or slave owner.

And then left to either lived as second-class citizens in the empire or wander off to find their fortune elsewhere. But the similarity end there... Unlike the Jew, The Elves kinda somewhat brought this tragedy on themself. Doing nothing while your neighbor got attack by a horde of evil creatures with a massive dragon is not only a dick move but a stupid one. With all the Elven wisdom of old their suppose to have, None of the elves ever think about what's going to happen if Orlais fall? "Shit, If the Human gone then it's our Elven asses they'll go after next..." Any elf? No? Also... I would have more sympathy for their lost if it was not the the stun they pulled in the war. Attacking the enemy capital is one thing, Sacking and plundering their founding father's tomb before take his stuff back home and displayed as a trophies? Well then... What goes around comes around. I feel like this lore might winan award for "perhaps the least subtle analogy of the Jewish people in fiction". A slave people, set free by a religious movement who gives them a promised land that's hard to get to ("we were better off under our masters, at least we had good food!") but they reach it, only for a new regions movement they helped birth to turn on them, force their culture on them and either lock them in ghettos or force them to wander the world as landless nomads telling stories of a last homeland. At least this time they avoided some of the more... Unhealthy stereotypes. *glares at Rowling*

The elves really got the short end of the stick and even after having helped the humans. But what else can you expect from a culture inspired by dark age Europeans. They were looking out for their own self interest, same as humans. The whole continent used to be ruled by elves until humans invaded and enslaved them, so being reluctant to get involved in human issues is very reasonable. It was the belligerent humans who couldn't leave well enough alone. They were the ones trying to force their religion on the elves and when turned away peacefully, came back with weapons and spreading vicious rumors. Is it any wonder the elves became isolationist? And during the Blight, which the humans are the root causes of, the elves were under no obligation to die defending someone else's land. Because the elves put themselves first, the humans then murdered an unarmed elf woman simply for crossing a border... humans started this, not the elves. And all this conflict really accomplished was proving the elves to be right in not trusting humans. If anything, they should have established their kingdoms further away from the humans. Only thing the elves did wrong was underestimating the determination of religious nut jobs.

@@ConnorLonergan the humans murdered an unarmed elf woman for no other reason than crossing the border, thus drawing first blood. Also, the villagers were ATTACKING the elves due to a misunderstanding(the elves believed they were in danger, the humans that murdered that elf woman cannot make the same claim).
