A big reason Fall Out Boy broke up for a while is cause fans HATED this album when it came out and booed the songs at concerts and things, and now it's an absolutely iconic and beloved album

same! i've always only really been a mostly casual FOB fan, but when this album came out and i first listened to it, i literally couldn't stop. the whole album is good, front to back, and i've listened to it that way likely over a hundred times at this point lol. easily my favorite of their albums, however anyone else might feel about it.

You nailed it. This was a way more mature and musical album from the rest. Plus idk how Patrick just kept taking his singing to new levels. His voice works in all genres. All the less mature fans hated on this bad lmao

(Context I’m a late teen now and found fall out boy about when AB/AP came out so I was a post hiatus fan) I hated this album, along with most of the early stuff since it wasn’t what I was used to. Now Folie is my absolute favorite album, and Headfirst Slide is one of my top favorite songs of all time. Easily so underated

Disloyal Order, Coffees for Closers and WAMS are two of my favs! Folie will forever be the GOAT album of FOB. It blows my mind every time I listen to it. I bought it day 1 in 2008 which is also when I graduated high school. Masterpiece.

SO YEAH FOLIE IS PRETTY GOATED,, and I respect your choices for the songs you left out, they're my least listened tracks as well tbh :) Personal faves are Winona, Suithearts, Headfirst Slide, What a Catch and 20 Dollar (I'd add Tiffany and Shipped but I can't fav every track HAHAHA). Also some album trivia, the voices singing FOB's past records at the end of What a Catch include Brendon Urie, Travie McCoy, Gabe Saporta (of Cobra Starship) and FOB's other label mates! w.a.m.s. was produced by PHARELL WILLIAMS and he helped write the beat too, and West Coast Smoker includes backing vocals from Debbie Harry (aka. BLONDIE!). Also, on the bridge of Tiffany Blews, that's Lil Wayne!! They also wanted Kanye for this album but unfortunately he was busy at the time with 808s and Heartbreak :) Literally such an eclectic masterpiece, a true showing of what pop punk could've evolved to be. When people talk about the great moments of this genre, I fully consider Folie to be an evolution past pop punk itself and its whole unique brand of soulful, funky, punk-flavoured arena rock, but it is such an accomplishment in music that it's a sin it doesn't get mentioned even a fraction as much as Cork Tree. It's a genre great, for ALL rock, I believe. Alot of these "big" "classic" rock bands had great singles and maybe a legendary album track or two, but there is rarely an actually GREAT ALBUM if you go back and listen, the few bands to achieve this were Guns n Roses, U2, Led Zeppelin and some others. All in all, so glad you enjoyed this, was waiting on this one like a hawk and I was singing along and drumming and air guitaring to every minute :) LOVE YOU UNCLE QAJIM 💞💞💞

I remember when we thought this was gonna be their last album. This slaps, personally imo it's my favorite of theirs. But I love the first two as well, mostly for sentimental reasons, lots of high school memories listening to those albums.

Same. I love their first 4 albums, but I know that my opinion of the first 3 is highly influenced by my nostalgia for those. When Folie A Deux came out, I was in my 20s and past all those pivotal early life moments. With their earlier albums, I can match lyrics and tunes to things that I was actively going through at the time, but I can't relate to any of the material from Folie on a personal level like that... still it is hands down my favorite album from them, and probably my favorite album from anyone too. Sure, you need to have been a fan of FOB to really appreciate the call backs to some of their earlier hits, but the rest of the album just stands on its own and the tracks just work so well together. I love the transitions between tracks too, which is something that seems lacking in their post hiatus work. I feel like their first 3 albums are good albums if you are a Fall Out Boy fan, but Folie is a fantastic album for anyone who enjoys music. This album feels like the most Fall Out Boy that they've ever been, which is why I don't care as much for their newer stuff. Everything post hiatus feels like FOB doing covers of other people's songs, at least until So Much (for) Stardust. That sounds like the album that they should have made after Folie.

ive never seen someone react to this album before omg!!! i loved this reaction so much 😭 one of my favorite albums of all time, and I'm so glad u appreciated it!!! especially patrick's vocals, i feel like even though the fanbase appreciates him, he is a VERY underrated vocalist that does not get nearly as much recognition by the masses as he deserves to! One of the best and most versatile voices to come out of the pop punk scene imo!! And a huge inspiration for my own journey as a vocalist.

This album was really hated in 08/09....Nowadays people consider this to be their very best record! And i agree! It just was a weird time, music industry was changing, pop music itself was changing during the late 00s, This was a weird FOB album.

This album really is so very special. The band were barely talking to each other at this time, they were fighting so much leading up to the hiatus, and they were afraid to play these songs live, because they were actually getting booed by the fans who didn't like them. It's been so wonderful to see people recognize Folie for the masterpiece it is in hindsight, and to see the band embrace this part of their journey again. It's so healing! ❤

I was in jr high when this album dropped and I bought it on iTunes for $9.99 on my iPod touch. This has always been my favorite album! I got a lot of flack back in the day but it went over so many peoples heads. It’s a complete masterpiece that was just way ahead of their time. All of the different people they brought in as collaborators mixed with Pete’s lyrics is just astounding. Pete has made the comment that there’s a couple of tracks he felt were only 80% finished and wished they could’ve pushed back release and figured it out. Would love to know which songs and for them to revisit “finish” them and release them as a passion project. Loved watching you experience this!🖤
