God the Soul Punk vibes from Patrick are strong in this one. He uses a lot of the exact same riffs in this as he does in his solo album. I can't express how much I love it.

it's def soul punk. I love it. i think this whole album is so early FOB with a lil modern twist and I've been waiting for it. the past two albums haven't hit the spot for me but this one has for sure.

I'm with you on Folie, which is by far their best album, but this one isn't doing it for me. Maybe a second listen through is required, but so far all these tracks seem pretty generic.

@@cadnocrisis Folie was a near perfect album. Would listen to it on repeat on long road trips and never get tired of it. The only track I sometimes skipped is "She's My Winona", not because it was bad, but just that it's only about an 8 on a album with 10s and 11s. I've listened to this album 3 times now... and I don't get what others are gushing about. "Heaven, Iowa" is the only stand out track for me. That is one that I could probably listen to on repeat for hours and not get bored. "Love From The Other Side" and "I Am My Own Muse" are the only other tracks that I genuinely enjoy. And Flu Game is growing on me, but the name is dumb and there seems to be too much focus on the quarantine in the lyrics on this album. The others just seem like generic knock-offs of either other people's songs or their older songs. During "Heartbreak Feels So Good", I don't know why, but I am reminded of the chorus from "Fame < Infamy" where he sings "When I'm home alone, I just dance by myself" and then how I'd much rather listen to that song than this one. "Hold Me Like a Grudge" um... that intro bass line just sounds like Queen's "Another One Bites The Dust" which I'd rather listen to over this song. This continues in "So Good Right Now", which sounds way too similar to the intro to "Little Bitty Pretty One". There's something like that in nearly every other track even if I can't remember the original song. It just sounds borrowed rather than created. This is something they started doing after the reunion and I don't like it. It's like they feel they need to catch people with nostalgia for the works created by others. I liked "Centuries", but the sampling of Suzanne Vega's "Tom's Diner" almost ruins the rest of the song. I get that this might be done as them paying homage to musicians they enjoy, but that should be the stuff in bonus tracks on an album, not the entire thing.
