Best Fall Shoe Trends To Shop Now | 2022 Fashion Trends
My favourite seasons for footwear are Fall and Winter so to give you a little heads up on what shoe trends are happening this year I wanted to feature a few of the best. I'm sure you will probably already own at least one of these styles which is always helpful heading into a new season. I also got tongue tied in today's video trying to work out what to call rain boots so I'd love to know what you call them. I generally refer to them as gum boots but there seem to be quite a few names for the trusty wet weather boot which just so happens to be trending for Fall 2022. I don't...I am a summer girl but it's because in MN when fall comes it means the horrors of WINTER are coming. Get ready for dry cracking skin, the fear of dying on icy roads and never going outside or seeing the sun through all the clouds. YUCK. Fall is just a horrible reminder to me unfortunately! Summer is my dream state.

Coming from the East Coast in the US we call “gum boots” rain boots, or Wellies if they are actually produced by the brand Wells. I haven’t heard galoshes since I was a kid. 🥰

As a shoe victim of the Sixties, I am so pleased to see so many comfortable options for all shapes of feet. My foot doesn't do pointy toes, for example, but the loafers and Mary Jane's are terrific. And platforms are the ultimate shock absorbers for long walks on concrete.

Yes to everything you mentioned. I bought a pair of platform crocs sandals. I wore them to a dog show and stood on cement floors for 4 hours. I cannot overstate how good my poor old feet felt in those shoes. I have bone spurs on my heals due to the questionable shoes I have worn in the past. I wish the comfy shoes would stay in style forever, because these are the only shoes I can wear now.

Ok long comment so apologies in advance - but I just realised what I love so much about your channel. I love that you don't buy all the trends yourself, or try to be the fashion icon either - you just give your considered, expert opinion on fashion trends. I am coming off a season of binge watching youtube/insta fashionistas and their highly curated views of their 'perfect looking' lives. I am now so hoha with their lux obsessions and/or their over-shopping (often sponsored items then on-gifted or returned because they can't possibly wear it all) and the encouragement to consume, consume, consumption. At the other end are the planet conscious fashion influencers and while I like their ethic, I generally find their style as dull as dish water - classic or edgy or more than likely classic with a bit of edgy - but that's all you get because you must have a tiny little capsule wardrobe if you care about the earth and her people. What I like about your channel, and you Leonnie, is that I get a heads-up on fashion trends to help me buy something, when I decide I need an item. Even with your sponsored spots by Lily Silk etc, I feel like I am being offered an option - not being subtly enticed to think I can be like, look like, live like you (or anyone else), by purchasing...... (fill in the blank). I have recently unsubscribed from almost all fashion channels, but will never be unsubscribing from yours. Love your content and look forward to it each week. Thank you.

Autumn 🍂 is definitely my most favourite time of the year. Especially for Autumn clothing. Love Autumn colours not just in Nature but for clothing. It’s a great time of the year to start wearing Autumn foot ware.

Here in Southern NH USA, we call them rain boots, but some call them galoshes. 😊 also, I used to LOVE Mary Jane's in high school. Super fun they are making a comeback!

Cowboy boots have been my favorite for over 20 years. So for me they’ve never been out of style. They’re probably the most comfortable boots for me. I love the look with skirts, pants, shorts or whatever. Love them!

We call gum boots “Wellies” or “Wellington boots” (I’m Irish, but it was the same when I lived in the uk). Love a metallic shoe. Gold and/or silver metallic shoes act as a neutral for me. They go with so much.

We call hunters “rain boots”. We wear cowboy 🤠 boots 🥾 to outdoor country/ rock music 🎶 festivals/ concerts, the boots 🥾 with embroidery 🧵 on them. I also love ❤️ the moto trend, but strangely/ funnily I love 💗 the “spice girls” platforms as well! Love 💗 the video, I’m excited for fall. Hugs 🤗, Amy

💟 So we call them "rain boots" here in the U. S. & yes to the MaryJane style shoes....I have several pair & look forward to wearing them in fall/ winter! I do like the over the knee boots & I opt for the flat style! Shoes have always been a favorite in my closet & I find I don't get rid of them unless they absolutely deteriorate or are very uncomfortable! We have at least three full months of summer heat still to go here in California, with daily high temps from 85-105+F, but I love seeing the upcoming trends anyway, as I long for weather cool enough to wear blazers, boots and leather! Last year it didn’t drop below the 80Fs until mid-November. Summer is nothing but an endurance period for me every year, I don’t enjoy it one bit. Despite what most people think, most of us do not have any AC here, the coastal influence is supposed to keep things cool, but it doesn’t.

Yay! Fall shoes!! Aside platforms (my skynny legs cannot stand them😝) and slanted heels, I'm using all of them!! Love maryjanes, skater kicks, boots in all the trends, etc! Love OTK boots but don' t owe a pair so what I do is wear OTK socks in the same colour and that gives the illusion..or sometimes in a contrast colour looks awesome too😁. Thank u!!Cheers!😘

I already own a pair of thicker sole loafers from a couple of years ago and I love them. My latest discovery though is sneakers or trainer type shoes and as you said, no going back! I’m actually enjoying cooler days so I can wear them and I will miss them sorely come winter! So cushy and easier on your knees. The wellies are tempting but I think I’m going to pass

Recently purchased the Karen Walker/Merry People gumboots. Love a good trans-Tasman collaboration. I am up for all of these shoe trends and already have most, except the buckles and as I like the boots I already have, I will just let that trend pass me by and wait and see what's trending by the time we are looking at autumn 2023 here in the antipodes.

Midwest US refer to gumboots and Wellies as rubber boots or Boggs (brand name), insulated or not. Riding, farm, or just rainwear rubber boots can get more specific.

Takes me back to the 80's, I had a pair of white plastic cowboy boots with all the details embossed in the plastic, the exact heel and curve at top. I thought I was so cool. They would of covered the gumboot and cowboy boot trend in one 🤣

Gum boots are Rain boots in the PNW. Over the knee boots are tempting in the winter, but not sure where I would wear them.

Hi Leonie, in France gum boots are called “bottes en caoutchouc”, sometimes “bottes de pluie” ! I personally wear platforms only in summer for sandals but never in winter. ❤️❤️❤️ over the knee boots !!!! 👋

Great video, Léonie ! I've just discovered your channel and really like it. I love the idea of platforms, skater shoes and wellies but am not so keen on the other trends you mentioned. The straps on Mary Jane's seem to make my calves appear shorter than they really are so I don't wear them. And I'm not sure what to wear with over the knee boots.

I think rubber boots or rain boots is more common here in the US, but I call them wellies. I’ve heard the term gum boots, but not from other Americans.

I'm psycehd about fun wellies/rain boots, updated cowboy boots, and chunky loafers (still looking for my ideal pair). No thank you to big buckles, platform heels (eek, 70's!), over the knee (Uh, "Pretty Woman") boots, slanted heels (I agree with you on the mechanics), and metallic shoes (Unless they are a fun pair of heels!).

we just call them rain boots. did you know that L.L. Bean offers repairs on their signature boot? you can ship them back and they'll repair them and send them back good as new!

Gumboots = rain boots (That's what we hear most in USA anyways!) This video is actually the first time I heard them called gumboots! I like that!

Yes to Mary Janes, if in a modern design. I love my over-the-knee boots because they work with some of my odd-length skirts and dresses; I have some that I think are supposed to end just above-the-knee, but on short me, they end in the middle of my kneecap. My OTK boots cover that awkward gap that knee-highs leave and I also like wearing them with slim pants tucked in, with a long blazer of jacket. They’re great for under skirts and dresses with tights on cold days, too. I have the Stuart Weitzman low (not flat) heel (about 2 inches) black ones and would like a pair in a light brown or beige, too, because I wear a lot of lighter colors. But, even on sale, they are $650 US, plus tax, it’s a lot for my budget.

Try Rue La La, Saks Off Fifth, or Nordstrom Rack online. I have about 8 pairs of Stuart Weitzman over the knee boots and I’ve never paid more than $330 a pair for them brand new. My Lowlands were $299 on Rue La La, and my Tielands were about the same. You have to get a bit obsessive with checking the sites, but it pays off.

I love the cowboy boots coming back. It’s been so many years,But I’m from there John Travolta and Debra Winger era. In no time was it more fun to dress up cowgirl! Of course They’ve waited till our authentic old ones are for sure terminal. I love the new sleeker take on them. Do the Boot Scoot Boogie!

Love a cowboy boot, I have three pair.. Short pair of suede, tall pair Made in Mexico beautiful snakeskin dyed red. A black pair. I wear them in the mountains quite a bit.

I live in the U.S. and have always called them galoshes. I've recently taken to referring to them as Wellies from our British friends, but I've always lived in an arid climate and have never owned a pair. I've never heard them called gumboots. Shoes are always a favorite topic. Great video as always!

@@lynetteraab3107 In Australia, we abbreviate almost every noun to something with an “ie” on the end; however “Gummy Bears” are an exception, and called “Gummy Bears”; 😆 I’d never thought of that before.

Rainboots. Thats what I call rainbows. Cowboy boots have been aorund for a few years, and I actually think they are just a staple. I think maybe Yellowstone the tv show has something to so with the look staying big?

Hey cowboy boots... awesome! I think I could buy a cheaper pair as I probably won't want these in my wardrobe for years and years. But definitely fun for a year or so!!! I have a fabulous pair of Mollini low platform bucked up biker style ankle boots that I just LOVE so I'm so happy to hear both platforms and buckles are the go right now. Actually they have so many buckles and zips that they jingle when I walk and someone told me they sound like cowboy boots.... so covering many trends with one pair of boots! Go me and my fashion forward ways 😁

Oh no I will be going barefoot this autumn/winter. Not a fan of platforms, cowboy boots, metallic or wellies except in the garden!! I'm tempted to try over the knee boots though In the UK the only people who say gumboots I think are members of the aristocracy aged over 70 🤣

Well granddaughter is getting ready to start school on the 11 so that give me the vibe that Fall is near. Sigh! Since I am a collector of shoes, I probably got something in every category, even if it is old school. I don't rid of shoes unless they badly damage and no way to save them. I have some platform pumps, loafers/oxfords and clogs that I am excited to wear. I do have thicker sole combat boots also. Vans, I got them but don't reach for them much because they suede and don't want them to get damage in our messy winters but I do have some sneaks. Galoshes are where you insert your foot with a shoe into to protect and rain boots are actual footwear. I never heard of those other name options. I still have versions of Mary Janes in high heels with single strap or multi-strap and also toe out and I am looking forward to wearing these if I can for the Fall, I saw close style of them on the runway. I probably got maybe 6 casual style metallic shoes and it a shame that some of them (boots) are peeling, and I really have not worn them at all. I have over the knee boots but they will be used to keep legs warm under dresses/skirts. I been crazy about cowboy boots since I was a kid and it was totally reinforce when I went out west for college and they were everywhere but very expensive. Thanks to Karenbritchic and JillianFleece they made me realized that I could get they by thrifting and that I did, so I finally have some interesting pairs in this category thrifted are authentic leather but retail were bought for the statement. This was such a great video and truly appreciated. Most important fun. I see you layered a sweater vest over the dress really like that look. I have two pair of cowboy boots and love them. Living in the American West they are always in style. Love my sneakers. Hard no to most of the remains trends. I go for practical comfortable shoes and not trends. I keep my footwear for a long time and it has to work for my casual lifestyle. I really only have a very few "fancy" shoes for those few occasions when I need to dress up.

We call them rainboots in New Mexico, U.S.A. I don't wear cowboy boots personally. Platforms are ok, I just dont go for the sky-high ones. A small platform, like the chunky loafers, yes please! Here for the combat/moto boots. Sparkly shoes, yes! Gonna be wearing my chunky loafers and my Dr. Martens Mary Janes for fall, along with all my doc boots.

Love my Frye cowboy boots and wear them all the time - definitely my personal style. Really liked the silver cowboy boots in the video but probably wouldn’t wear them enough to justify the cost. HARD NO on Mary Janes and chunky loafers - my US size 11 feet would look so freaking big in those.

I can get with this one, but I’m also thoroughly amused. 80s kid, 90s teen - I literally never stopped wearing most of these styles, they very much just fit my style and aesthetic without it being a “hop on the trend” issue Love a Mary Jane, loveeeee platforms, love me some ignorantly colorful wellies (especially the riding boot style knee high; *I use all the names depending on boot height tbh). Every day shoes remain “skater” style 👟 even at my grand age, and I live in texas so we’re like 👀 what do you mean cowboy boots are coming back? Lmao
