Winter survival camping under a fallen tree protected with pine bows, we hiked up a mountain, start the fire with bow and drill, initial bow drill wood: douglas fir spindle, grand fir fire board, later adjusted to douglas fir fire board and used less pressure than before and worked perfectly. Pitchwood bearing block is the best natural material to use for your handhold. Snow was melted with a black trash bag and my son and I ate some great food.

Depends what a parent has to teach their kids. Most people, parents or not, don't do or know anything of value to teach. Bureaucrats spend time with their kids and teach them that all the citizens of the country are dumb clods created for those in power to use and abuse as whimsy dictates . That's why the world is a mess.

Not bushcraft, but my 10 year old grandson has helped his dad build a chicken coop, put up a fence (including welding pipe, yes, he has his own helmet/mask), run the small tractor, check out the well and septic, weed and mow the yard! His mom has included him and his little sister in gardening, taking complete care of the chickens, cooking doing laundry, etc. Well-rounded, independent children come from involved, good parents.

Hello! Where are you from?

I know my first comment was ironic considering that you actually showed a campfire cook, I made that comment only halfway through without knowing. Lol. Either way, I think you know I wasn't being an ass, just offering a different point of view/suggestion having already viewed several of your vids where it was lacking. I LOVE campfire cooking, I love anything that challenges my stupid diet. Lmfao!

Lol I know! Definitely appreciate your suggestions, the canned elk was heavy to bring in but worth it! Making simple fajitas was a lot easier than I thought while camping, love it. What meals do you think would be good?

@@SurvivalSchoolHouse It depends on how much effort you feel like putting in. I have viewed and also enjoyed preparing homemade campfire chili. Campfire spaghetti is also delicious. Honestly though, it's dealers choice, as long as your cooking and I'm salivating, it's probably a win win. Lol

That is not as much fun haha, I had a backup metal match which I used to start the fire in the morning.

Great video great content although I do seem to feel that it’s a lot of work for just an overnight stay I wish you could’ve spent more time there and done some more things with the wildlife like maybe caught a rabbit and dressed it ate it and had a little bit more time with your son out there

I agree, it would've been more fun to stay out and snare and play some more but I had to get home unfortunately

I wanted to but it's better to naturalize the area and make it seem like you weren't there.
