I love the "core memories" - they don't technically remember but they "know". And as parents and the "friends group" YOU all know and it is memories for all. You are momming great!

I absolutely agree with you. I took my kid to the most amazing places when she was a kid. I took her on a tour of New England including Plymouth Rock because we were moving to Texas and I didn't know if she would ever be in the Northeast again. I took her to Washington DC, to the Vietnam Vet's Memorial, to the Lincoln Memorial, and to just about every place I could think of. I took her to the National Aquarium in Baltimore. Years later, she took her own kids to New England. She called me and said, "Mom, did we go to Plymouth Rock? I swear I have been here before and it looks exactly like I thought it would." I said we sure did. Then she went to Baltimore because one of her kids is interested in Oceanography and she called and said, "We went here too, didn't we?" Slowly, she remembered everything. Then they went to DC, and it was the Vietnam Vet's Memorial she remembered. She began to remember all of the trips we took and for me it was gratifying to know she was doing the same with her kids. In their subconscious, it is all there. So she instituted the same "enculturation" program I did. Once a month, without fail, I took her somewhere that had importance, whether it was to see the Whooping Cranes (a trip I highly recommend) or the Alamo. And it all gets stored in the mind somewhere, waiting to come out. I'm near 70 now and she is 42. She still takes her child left at home on field trips. And I'll bet you dollars to donuts, her kids will do the same thing with theirs. And I don't regret a single moment or a single dollar spent on it.

I'm over here living the other side of rodeo mom......I am hauling my kids all over the PNW and down into California and Nevada...Utah... where ever the National Jr. HIGH RODEO takes us.... but from the time my kids started we have rocked it out of a 99 sooner 5hr with a big dressing room.... I always said I swap out to a full LQ if we had a 3rd baby but we are never in our trailer.... but keep at Fallon... the memories are never ending as a mom

That’s how thought about when my daughter was born, her first birthday took her to Disneyland in California every year ever since , she’s 8 now .. but I took her jus to build memories that we took her places as a baby and created memories and she can look back too.. but that’s awesome 👍🏼
