I love him in Pride and Prejudice. I've watched that movie 20x now and that scene with Elizabeth when he proposes and she rejects him, that was a masterpiece. I never thought of him as "comedic" - Tom and Greg are hilarious and the best side kicks on the show. So glad he's getting the recognition he deserves.

I watched Pride and Prejudice tonight. I have watched it a thousand times. I LOVE that movie as well. I only watch his and Kiera knightley's version only though.. lol. I love to watch this movie when its raining. I will watch this movie, little woman and then anne of green gables. haha.

crazy watching little "puppy dog" Greg from SE1/EP1 evolve into a Roy-caliber cutthroat here in SE4. though i appreciate the fact that the writers allow him to maintain a lot of his naivety and tenderfoot charm. gonna miss this show.

I love Matthew. He IS one of our finest British actors who’s been too long waiting for more recognition. He’s gorgeous and THAT VOICE is magical! I like him in all I’ve seen him in and a huge favourite is Ripper Street (I recommend). For any American who may watch this, Adam Rothenberg plays Capt Homer Jackson, a pathologist as I recall! A fine American actor. It’s an amazing serial drama of Victorian England made 8/10 years ago. Matthew is a police officer. I’m an English woman and live in the UK! I’m almost 76 and Matthew’s voice makes my thighs go taught and sensitive! 😥👌😘🤗✌️👍⚡️⚡️⚡️BTW Keeley Hawes is a beautiful British fine actress too!

Ripper Street is where i first saw him and I was like, MAN what an actor. Same thing when I saw David Tennant and Olivia Colman in Broadchurch. Blown away by the talent of those two as well. I personally believe Olivia Colman is the best actress going currently. Brilliant in EVERYTHING she does.

I saw this man for the first time on Pride and Prejudice and fell in love. My friends forced me to watch Succession when I was not interested, and the minute I saw Matthew Macfayden I binge-watched the whole two seasons in a week. At first I couldn't digest dearest Mr. Darcy coming off the screen as this oddly naive and mildly psychotic Tom... but now I just love Matthew Macfayden's acting. There's a youtube clip on Keira Knightley explaining his acting as well that is absolutely wonderful to watch as well.

For those who haven't seen it, Matthew is the star of "Ripper Street," and is absolutely amazing in that role, as well as in "Succession." It's hard to choose which is his greatest role.

It's definitely not the best show he's been in to be honest. I'd say Spooks was his big breakout role (he was in good stuff before that too though) and probably what he's best known and beloved for in the UK (other than P&P of course).

@@sorscha1308 I'll have to disagree. That was a decent spy series, but Succession is a dramatic series of almost Sopranos-level caliber. And IMHO, he personally was better in Succession than anything else I've seen him in - and that's after Ripper Street already set the bar very high. Naturally, I can't make any comparison to his other works that I haven't seen yet. :)

Spooks was my introduction to Matthew, great to see him with Keely again! His scenes as Tom, with Greg, are extraordinary, dazzling talent! Matthew Macfadyen and Tobias Menzies, two of the most underrated English actors (in the US at least - in the UK and Australia they are the creme-de-la-creme)

My mother and one of my sisters love this guy.Have no idea why,but whenever i refer to him as "Mr. Darcy" i end up doing it in a U.S. southern civil war era accent.When in my mind i'm going for an old upper-class English sounding one.

My love for this man dates back to 2005 and a New Zealand film “In My Father’s Den”. Can never hear Mazzy Star without thinking of that film and his thoughtful performance. Gives me great pleasure to see his successful career.

One of my most favorite performances by any actor. The film itself was great up until jumping the shark towards the end, but his performance and in particular his scenes with the lead actress were just wonderful.

Been a fan since Spooks or MI:6 where he and wife Keeley first met. He's Tom Quinn, not so much Mr. Darcy for me. Both roles tho have been perfectly played by Matthew!! ♥️♥️♥️

Matthew MacFadyen is such a wonderful actor & deserves more international accolades than he gets! If you've never seen *_"Pillars of The Earth" it is WELL worth watching!_* (if you like historical drama - not based on fact). You'll also see Eddie Redmayne before he was 'famous'.
