They also kinda rehearse the live skits when they have them, but not for an audience...it's more for them, to make sure that the props set up runs smoothly and everybody knows what they have to do & when & where to go...prop ppl pull the fake walls, furniture & whatnot together, substitute ppl stay where the actors will be (if they don't have the time to be there), lights ppl check to see if the lights are set to land on the important stuff, the camera ppl check out what space they have to work w/, the director gets an idea of what angles he needs and what to focus on & when etc. And they rehearse stuff like lipsync battle as well, for the same reasons, but here, the guests must really be present to let know the staff what they plan to do and also for themselves to get used to the space they have for the performance...but if it's some kind of contest, then Jimmy doesn't see the guest & the guest doesn't see Jimmy and they don't know the songs etc. :))) And also the musical guests rehearse their performance.
