You know, I've put an amazing number of hours into this game, and even had Sanctuary as my main base during my first playthrough. I never knew that stash was up there on top of that house.

At one point in the game, i was browsing through my inventory and accidentally dropped the sword but i didn't realise it. My life was never the same.

Chao is good for early game melee, since it is a top tier Medium Melee that you can get early on. The Troubleshooter effect, however, is fine for doing the Automaton quests (particularly the final dungeon), but really not worthwhile as most of the time, it is just a Chinese Officer's Sword. Affording it is easy enough - if you are short on cash, scrap everything in the settlements and sell the components (you will have more than enough in wood and steel from Sanctuary alone, or you can pillage Red Rocket or the Drive In Theater next door) that, loot, ammo (you are playing melee after all), etc is more than enough very quickly. Once you move on in the game, however, Chao will hit the wall (except for automaton). The Rockville Slugger does more damage (against everything other than robots) and with the VATs enhanced, the slow swing speed is irrelevant (assuming your are doing a Blitz build - which you should if you are going melee). That is the best VATS melee option (other than a lucky random drop) until you get Atom's Judgement. If you are a non-VATS using snob, you might use the sword longer until you violate your soul (either in the pits of Drumlin or in the Gallery of Pickman). I normally prefer Pickman's blade, but the Sacrificial Blade can be put on any machete, so it can become better if you stick it on a machete that has a good modifier on it.

More than 400 hours into playing this game and I just realized what it means when Dogmeat finds something. I was scurrying around looking going "where is it Dogmeat?". I did not realize he actually picks the item up and it's in his inventory.

My current play through is the first time I found it and I stole something from just next to her, which her son noticed, but luckily started a trade before he alerted her, so I purchased the sword just before she kicked off and I had to kill them. I’ve been using it to take out any enemy that doesn’t require a ranged attack or specific vats area hit.

10/10 would watch to obtain knowledge again.

Dude, thanks so much. because of you, I got my sword relatively early on and been using it whenever I can. It's a beautiful sword and I would never replace it. Believe me I tried, but none has beaten it's sleek and powerful blade. love the length of it, even the speed is great. I plain love this sword.

I found the best way to get money for it is to sell all the mini gun ammo from when you meet the minute men. If you’re going for unarmed you dont need the ammo anyways
