That moment of horror when at 25:40 I realize that all my vault is one block behind and I can fit two hallways where you can fit only one... That means that at some point while following your build guide I might have trouble fitting it all in. XD

The big chunks take up less processing than 1,000,000 different square tile. I understand why they did it but also, I agree, it would allow for more customization in building

I shared many of your frustrations at first, but as several other commenters have said the tile mismatch is because of the mixing of piece types. Just to lay it out concisely; each major room tab (atrium, common, the various rooms) has a set of bottom pieces, mid level pieces, and top pieces. Using only the pieces designed for a particular level you're working on reduces frustration tremendously.

I made your atrium and overseer's office hallway but i made an office on both sides (one for her and one for me) and I'm planning on doing a rich vs "poor" vault. I made a wing just for my tests and put "hidden rooms" that the overseer isn't supposed to be able to go in. Still working on getting npcs to leave my area alone lol

First of all, thanks for these videos! Secondly, I’ve hit a snag. I built the elevator, then the security room off the 3rd floor of the atrium, then the overseer’s room. My issue is this- I can only power *part* of the security room and NONE of the overseer’s room using the white power conductors and it’s driving me nuts. Why?! What am I doing wrong? I followed your instructions perfectly lol

The thing I've noticed with vault builds is. You need to think bigger. I know its been 7 years. But a 5x4 build would be better. You can fit your windows in and not have the corner window issue. And even fit a 2nd entrance from your hall to the back end off the cafe it would be pretty much all you could fit on that one side but. Would fit well

I understand your frustration with the prefabs. Just a suggestion, there is no corner window but there is a corner door; put a corner door that opens to a 'hostess station' or counter and put the window where the door is. That would solve the blue wall problem, but the paintings are a very clever idea. I think that would actually give you more room for tables by not having the door in the center of the room too. Another one i found frustrating was the one hallway piece that has a different floor than the rest, can't seem to figure out why.

So I just found your guide started using it got to this episode realized that I fucking up the entrance so all my build is one behind yours and after messing with it to fix it I then realized that I messed up originally by making the atrium 9 wide instead of 8 and I was able to fix the error of the entrance by just removing my starting walls and not having to scrap the whole build and restart so super happy

Use the hallway pieces that have a window for the blue wall side of the cafe. Plus there are a lot of vault posters you can add to that blue wall. Edit: The vault posters and signs are in the vault decorations tab along with the Christmas trees, but only after finishing the quests.

for the hallway you did for the quarters i was able to extend it one 4 way w/door ways more so like instead of one 4 way i got two 4 ways

im keeping the stairs and elevator, both please me. a vault would have both for the overseer. im turning this new security room into the overseers bedroom, and another room beyond that for the overseers armory and personal bathroom.

Finally finished my vault again😂👍 I love the open concept when you walked into your vault. So that was a major remodeling goal taken from your build to mine. It's way cooler looking now thanks for video you made! Now I just gotta put a elevator in mine and I'll be 💯 % done👍

I was dreading building the vault, as I'm really not creative, but your build really really helps. For the cafe though, rather than trying to make it window, door, window, from the outside I made it corner door, window, wall and it looks good. i also made the first domestic hallway leading to the elevator into a hallway w/windows, and added a window on the inside of the cafe facing the corridor. it looks really nice

I completely understand your frustration. I love fo4 but most of my playtime is spent thinking "damn, wouldn't it be awesome if XYZ?" Wouldn't it be awesome if the minutemen i call in to help werent level 1? Wouldnt it be awesome if I didnt need to be within grenade throwing distance to call artillery down? Wouldnt it be awesome if contraptions workshop was actually useful? Etc etc etc

If anyone is still having trouble with that 4 story elevator power up, what I did was just wire glitch all the way from that doorway on the first floor closest to the elevator and it worked. If you do it right, you can scrap and the wire isn't visible.

I for one, like the paintings as wallpaper in your café, but I've liked them in your other builds too. If you want your windows though, I don't see what else you can do to be honest. Also some resturaunts where I live ( in Illinois ) have local artists's paintings hanging on their walls too. :)

I like the structure of your videos because you point out all the annoying OCD inducing details that I've missed or spent 10,000 years trying to correct in my own vault. It's nice to see other people have the same issues with this DLC but still enjoy it. Also had a bit of an "FFS moment" with how pleasing and easy it was building your elevator when mine looked like crap and took literally 5 hours to get installed.

I watched one of your videos yesterday and liked what you where doing with your vault so much that I got up at 8:00 this morning and totally rebuilt my vault kind of like yours. I had to stop ran out of metal, but I'm damn close to almost being done with it.😏👍

That's 100% Bethesda, it's not 'forgetting' or 'taking shortcuts', it's actually pure incompetence. Most of it is shown in their completely lackluster writing and world building but it bleeds heavily into the coding and especially the V88 DLC was a pure cashgrab with absolutely no actual work put in. It's pretty much just a Creation Engine SDK with about 0.1% of the possibilities of a dev kit ^^

So I fixed the issue with the door at 18:00 minutes. U have to put the window first then the door and it fits and looks better 😊

I found it so hard to get the elevator connected to conductor thing the glitch just didn't work at all

for the cafe you could have 2 windows next to each other on the right side, then a corner door so you dont see the blue :)

To get the door/window to snap right you just need to put the window in first and then the door.

The wasteland elevator is blah plus the more complicated the path way to the Overseer desk is, it will take forever to finish the vault 88 .

I found having a corner doorway snap to the atrium gave me my window followed by a normal corner work better. Its only one window I know but at least you get to keep the uniformity of the room you are trying to develop. I do however make one very large cafe with a smaller one off the other side (rail tunnels side) in a kind of mall. I drew a downward view map on math paper with squares by measuring from the main entrance how many units each way. I was then able to create my mall and have quarters at the very top and workshops at the very bottom along with manufacturing

for anyone making vaults still could always change the hallway to a "hallway w/ window" on that way and just have the window there for when people who stay their way from their places they can pep in and see whats going on in the cafe

I just been fallowing ur build but in my cafeteria the walls I had were able to cover the posters if I had a way to show up I would it looks cool

I had to add the stairs to the Overseers office back in Cuz I don’t think the npcs use elevators so I added the stairs back on the other side and I sadly had to remove the elevator 😔
