I really don't understand your logic with aquaboy, you first point is that you can wear the hazmat suit, witch is yes rather easy to find, but you cannot wear any other armor, and is vary inconvenient to reequip it every time you need to cross a patch of water. your next point is that you can use mirelurk cakes to breath under water, whitch require a mirelurk meat, mirelurk egg, oil, and razergrain, and it only last half an hour. So rather than spend one point ( in a game with an unlimited level cap), you can spend 5 or more hours to get a hazmat suit, farm mirelurks, try to fing a mirelurk nest (with a 50/50 chance of the eggs hatching and trying to kill you), scavenge for lamps, gas cans, ect, and plant a razor grain farm.

Aquaboy is a great perk! With all of the small pools of water, rivers, flooded basements and stuff like that, radiation damage can stack up real quick. Besides, who the hell carries a hazmat suit with them all the time? What a hassle. And saying that Steady Aim is a useless perk? Like, maybe it doesn't fit your playstyle, but that doesn't make it useless.

Ghoulish is a great perk to have when traversing about the Glowing Sea. Even with power armor, you take on radiation damage in the sea, the Ghoulish perk helps to minimize that.

Aquaboy level 1 is actually a good perk! It’s such a relief to go into water without that Geiger counter going off!

Aquaboy is great in survival. As a retreat strategy when you just can't afford to die cause you havent saved in an hour... saved me so much time. Radaway has negative side effects... but there is the decontamination ring... so maybe I should rethink that.

Aquaboy 1 is good. Theres so much shallow water you have to walk through that its nice to not have your max hp constantly depleting especially in far harbor. Vans is a little buggy but still helpful, especially with the second rank giving 2 perception

The hazmat suit doesn't help when you're on a bridge and getting shot from both sides. "Please stop shooting at me while I change clothes." LOL.Anyone else note the fact that he says that he loves using VATS and barely uses it against the mirelurks?

Lead belly is one of my favorite perks. Easy to unlock, and you can eat everything you find. It will help in early game. And I have a melee build character, the "moving target" skill a very useful skill for every melee based player.

Aquaboy is my #1 go target perk in pretty much every playthrough. When I swim, I do not want rads. I find myself swimming all the time.

When I'm near a body of water I and I'm low on health I use aqua boy to get out of the fight and lead belly to make the water drinkable to regen health

No perks are useless. Just situationly useful.

I forget what perks i have but i know one is quick hands and i can reload that combat rifle 3 times faster so it is useful

If you have a Gatling laser, the reload is very slow, especially when your being attacked by a ton of enemies. Basher can take out one or two so you can reload

increased hip fire accuracy is great, since hip fire has many benefits and just 1 draw - accuracy. you can't criticize a perk you know nothing about: you're a VATS-user for a reason, and thus obviously unfamiliar with real time combat. for a real time combatant, both field of view (which is reduced significantly with aim), movement (same, impaired greatly) and actual time it takes to aim, and then accuracy, are very important. Had you the same accuracy in hip fire as in aim, there would be no reason to suffer the above mentioned penalties by aiming, and that's how important accuracy is.

There are 5 hit boxes and Toughness increases each by 10 per level. If you don't have a helmet the only thing protecting your head is Toughness.

Well tbh without Aquaboy perk,I had to waste my RadX or Radaway and I’m tired of changing my armor to a hazmat suit just to swim or going across the river.I only use hazmat suit if I had to go to glowing sea or any place that is irradiated The only perk that is useless to me is the cannibal perk that’s all..

Wtf? Lead belly is absolutely amazing, I dont know where you guys got your "masses" of non-radiated food. It was the first perk I maxed because its extremely convenient

I find Aqua Boy useful, I like not taking 10 - 30 rads for some water places, plus, swimming in the river is a good way of traveling, less enemies on way and it is fast.

Got to say I like the hip fire bonus for pistols and heavy guns. It's like you said too I use it because I try to avoid Vats because it feels too easy with Vats.

4:36 There is that one Power Armor perk where can run into enemies and they take damage so it may become useful in a situation like that, but to be honest that perk should be on this list too!

I just tried swimming in a river with a hazmat suit and you STILL pick up radiation too quickly for any longer excursion. In survival mode you have no fast travel; being able to cross rivers and parts of the ocean is a great help to shorten the often *very* long distances!

Moving Target being on this list is genuinely insane lol. Literally a life saving perk on survival.

The first lvl of aquaboy is totally worth it in my opinion because you no longer take radiation damage from water and can breath underwater Personally i haven't found any hazmat suits yet and im 35 hours in and i dont feel like making the cakes so yes i am lazy but worth the perk point in my opinion

Sure the hazmat suit prevents rads, but the aqua girl perk saves me the hastle of changing armour, also let's me always have my armour on if I'm in a sticky situation where I need to retreat in water

But the thing about aqua boy/girl is that it allows you to breath under water too, meaning you don’t have to find a bridge every time you need to cross a river in power armour. Also those cakes are frickin hard to make compared to grabbing a perk and moving on with your day.

Idk basher saved my life a few times when I run out of a clip while an enemy is charging at me it help stun then enough for me to reload or some times just straight up kill them

Well, I like « ghoulish because I like to explore the glowing sea, so when I’m out of stimpacks, the radiations restore my health.

I actually like Aquaboy/girl. Granted it isn't as useful as others, but I get annoyed when swimming and I get radiation. It also lets you dive into water with no damage, which I find fun to do.

You can find a hazmat suit in the first 5 hours? Wow, they have been skillfully dodging me. I've played more than 3 days and didn't even know there was a hazmat suit.

The only thing I find useless in fallout 4 is the Creation Club.

I personally love the V.A.N.S. perk. I do understand that it doesn't actually make your character more deadly or more resistant to damage, but as someone who doesn't like to have to search around for a long periods to complete certain missions, I find that it saves a lot of time.

2020 guide on these perks in survival mode (cuz survival is the only real way to play the game) if anyone is interested :) : Lead belly: Honestly the rads you take from food is so small that it's not worth it. Sure being able to drink water from any source without thr chance of getting sick is handy but there are plenty of purified water just lying around in the world and you should already be carrying a minimun of 15 purified water wherever you go. Not worth it. Aqua boy/girl: Actually pretty handy on survival. Providing you're not a PA user, being able to traverse the coast and far harbor with zero danger and no rads is very good to have. The sneak portion is also handy for those situations and for sneak builds. Rad resistant: Still a terrible perk. Moving target: If you have a character who runs to your enemies with pain train and your powerarmor legs are kitted with sprint buffs then I'd see this pretty handy. Many powerarmor builds already get action boy/girl for the jetpack so one more point seems a reasonable investment. Also, being able to run more in survival means you will be able to reach you destinations much quicker if traveling by foot so the perk is alright. VANS: For those sniper/vats user minmaxers the second rank is a nice touch which will help. The first rank is still garbage tho. Basher: Depends on the build but I've tried a PA using basher build using paintrain and it does the job and isn't as terrible as he makes it out to be. Not for everyone but not useless. Refractor: Still a terrible perk. Quick hands: Depends on the build but faster reload can be handy for large weapons but agility 8 is imo too much of an invetment for a heavy build unless you're already running PA with action boy/girl. The ap increase for rank 3 can be handy for vats user minmaxers. If you're getting gun-fu or running the PA action boy/girl build, why not. Steady aim: Even with my sneak, luck, gunslinger build I adore hip-firing with the Deliverer when clearing out a dungeon. The shots are actually pretty accurate from the hip and this perk just helps that playstyle. Terrible for rifle user tho. So if you're running a commando or gunslinger build or are just getting really close to your enemies AND have high strength I'd definetily recommend it. The high strength requirement is a negative but with a PA build high strength is given and e.q with my sneak build I already ran 5 strength so I wanted to make that investment. Ghoulish: Using radaway can easily lead to your death and I avoid using it as much as I can. If you're at 9 endurance survivability is on your agenda and the perk is pretty handy when paired with something like solar powered. For tanks and people who hate radaway in survival I can definetily recommend it. As a finale note, if you're running a low int idiot savant or high int build (which imo every build should either or) levelling up is already really quick so you don't lose much for trying these out. Also trying underrated perks is imo a refressig change in a playthrough when literally every build runs gun nut, armorer and so on. So go ahead and try them out, they aren't that bad!

Aqua Boy is too useful, in my opinion. Take a single perk and you can both breathe underwater and take no radiation from it, permanently. Keep in mind that if you fall into deep water while wearing power armor, you can very easily drown before you can get out. But if you take Aqua Boy, that'll never be a problem again. I'm taking Ghoulish currently. . .at level 158. I've simply run out of many more useful things to take. Also, shotguns in this game suck, as I'm sure you've noticed. ;-)

You even went as far as to call people lazy lol. 1. I'm not sure how you play this game but I for one am not in power armor constantly to sink to the bottom and walk across every lake and or deep water that I come across while exploring. 2. I don't carry a hazmat suit on me cause there is no reason to if am ever going to the glowing sea I will just fast travel to the castle and get my power armor if I am near radiation I will just simply move away. There is no reason for me to have that extra un-needed weight and yes before you say it's only 1lb I have had moments to where my weight was 320/320 and I simply could not drop anymore. Not only that but having to un- equip then re- equip my armor just to cross one lake is unnecessary. 3.It's one point for no radiation and the ability to breath underwater, you calling people lazy for using it is like me calling you dumb for not using it just so that you can seem less lazy to yourself. We're all entitled to our own opinion but don't try mixing insults into that opinion where insults were not needed.

I looked at the comments real quick and I have to say he's right about most of the perks like "aquaboy" and "Leadbelly". I mean think about it there are plenty more perks that are more practical and useful in more situations early in the game, these are perks tht u add at level 20-30 after you've gotten all the necessary perks like, toughness, gunslinger, rifleman, armorer, lone wanderer. And I think that's what he meant, they're all very situational

Steady Aim is great for automatic weapons or a minigun build outside of VATS. Ghoulish + Solar Powered + Life Giver + Adamantium Skeleton in survival mode is probably a very nice combo.

You've got a lot of audacity putting Aquaboy on this list. You have no idea how much I've traveled in water, and as for the hazmat suit, I wouldn't want to keep equiping and unequiping it.

Aqua Boy is unironically top tier in Survival. Unless you wanna keep running to a doctor rads can become a problem real quick, and having to deal with hunger and sleep after using RadAway can be a pain in the assm and with how much Boston crashes the water can be a pretty good shortcut a lot of the time. Worth the investment

For talking about all these perks you should have been actually showing what the perks do rather than just a random mirelurk killing mission the whole time. If you're on PC you could have just made another file and console commands to give you all the levels you need to spend on these useless perks to show the viewer what you're talking about.

If you're using the Basher perk and the hunting rifle Give it The bayonet And then bash Then shoot and then bash then shoot. And that's why it's really good with the hunting Rifle And if you add the shredder onto the mini gun Do not use any ammo it basically turns it into a chainsaw.❤

VANS is assuredly a later perk. However, when you have one last raider hiding from you, this can save a few minutes. I don’t use it often at all, so your point is very salient. It’s the only one I felt compelled to mention at all , so well done. Also, for the love of God, why could I have not have learned about the stupid cakes before I wiped out all those clutches in Castle. D’oh!

Agreed on Lead Belly. I really see no reason to ever eat the contaminated food, even early in the game. I vehemently disagree regarding Aquaboy/Aquagirl, however. Taking rad damage just from entering water up to your waist is really annoying and I like being able to swim across bodies of water, especially since there are rivers forming boundaries between certain areas. (As a general rule, I believe anything preventing me from going wherever I want is anathema to the point of the game.) Furthermore, being immune to drowning without needing a power armor or the diving suit is awesome since I can actually take my time exploring under water, which is already difficult enough as it is. Regarding your other arguments, they require you to carry a hazmat suit and mirelurk cakes at all times which will eat up carry weight, and having as much carry weight as possible is the most important thing. The suit in particular replaces all your other armor pieces - which will all have Deep Pockets because of course they will, preferably the Fortifying effect as well - further putting you at risk of crossing your encumbrance limit which is unacceptable. Aquaboy allows you to surpass these hassles at the cost of single perk point. Rad Resistant is a similar deal except way less useful, and I admit I haven't really bothered with it. I don't quite understand your problem with Refractor. Sure, you get energy resistance from ballistic weave and other armors, but you're going to want those _as well_, yes? The point of leveling up is becoming as invincible as possible. I don't see how taking less damage from people shooting at you can be a bad thing. Besides, what if you want to dress mainly in something with poor energy resistance, like metal armor? You can't just wear armor because it's practical, after all, you need to consider style and character design as well. Not to mention that ballistic weave is for outfits that, with only a few exceptions, can't be worn along with armor pieces and can't benefit from Deep Pockets, which makes them inferior no matter how much protection they offer. Quick Hands is something I might want to invest in eventually, mainly because I reload constantly and while it's usually not a problem, I have occasionally been hit by Super Mutant Suiciders while stuck in a reload animation due to carelessness, which costs me a mini nuke. Ghoulish I actually want, but admittedly for roleplaying purposes - ghouls are apparently biologically immortal and I like the idea of my characters living forever. No particular opinion on the others you mentioned. Anyway, my top ten worst perks would be... well, everything involving VATS, really. Like, practically all of the Agility ones? If you like VATS for some reason, cool, but to me it seems like a great way to make the game less fun and reducing the combat to statistics and random chance.

If you ever fell into a body of water while wearing power armor in survival mode and REALLY need to get it out then you know the importance of Aquaboy. It also makes traveling by waterbed inside power armor like a cursed pirate the optimal way to travel if you can't fast travel or save and don't want to die in a random encounter.

Aqua boy is so worth it. I can cross rivers, dredge lakes for loot, even swim to Spectacle Island. Great perk for efficient players who want to maximize carry space and don’t want to waste consumables on lowering rads.

I'm gonna defend each of these. Lead Belly: Stimpaks are valuable. People might sell 'em if they need the caps. Sometimes I'll sell a few. Imagine a player who saves stimpaks for the caps, and doesn't wanna waste them on themselves. What else is there for them to use? Cooked food, sure, but what if they're a scavenger/hoarder like me? Meaning they keep their inventory very light so they can pick up as much stuff as possible when they go into a new area? Cooked food can get heavy. They might not bring much. In that scenario, they can only eat the meat the take directly off the creatures they kill. In that case, Lead Belly becomes very useful, since the raw meat does have rads. But with Lead Belly, they don't. Aquaboy/Aquagirl: I love this perk. You may call it being lazy, I call it being efficient. Swimming across rivers without taking rads just speeds things up quite a bit for me, and anyone who plays like me. Also, think of this what you will... I've actually never found a hazmat suit in the game. Maybe I've overlooked them, or maybe I'm just blind. But I've never seen one. So, for me, Aquaboy/girl is great. Rad Resistant: I'm all about radiation resistance. That may explain why I love Aquaboy/girl and Lead Belly so much... To me, radiation sickness is so inconvenient... Fighting off ferals or a glowing one without having any rad X or radaway on you makes death by radiation poisoning a big possibility. Anything to reduce that possibility is good by me. Moving Target: To me, this perk is meant to make it easier to escape powerful targets. As you said, if you're sprinting, you're either charging, or running away. I'm usually doing the latter, so I certainly wouldn't mind having some extra assurance that I'll escape successfully. V.A.N.S. .....I can't defend this one. V.A.N.S. sucks. I agree. Basher: Blade attachment + Basher = Having a fun time when a raider or an animal thinks it can win by charging you. Nothing's more satisfying than emptying a clip into an enemy and then finishing it off by beating it down with your gun. Quick Hands: I don't like the pause that occurs when reloading. In many cases with my play style it just gives the enemy/enemies a chance to land a few hits while I reload. That's no fun. I don't wanna just sit there and wait for my guy to take his time reloading. I want that gun reloaded as quickly as possible after the gun is empty. Steady Aim: I hip fire all the time. I mod my guns for increased hip fire accuracy. It's so I can keep moving and reduce the chances of getting hit myself. It works. Steady aim helps. Ghoulish: Remember what I said before about selling stimpaks? Same thing applies here. Plus with all tat radiation resistance you've got from Rad Resistant, why not turn those rads into something positive? Like restored health? Plus, those ghouls and glowing ones are now a walking source of free health. Score!

Moving Target works well in tandem with Pain Train (Strength 10), you can sprint longer and mow down more enemies in power armor. And it’s more practical than you think because more than half the enemies in the game shoot at you and it helps if you’re running towards or away from the enemy. Yeah it’s a situational perk, but it’s as good any other perk. Like Night Person or Life Giver.

The only always useless perk is better prices at vendors. You get so many weapons and armor all around the world to sell, but the amount of caps every vendor has is rediculously low, even after investing in the shops. So in the end you can sell much less stuff. Or you have to time skip much more often.
