Holy shit!!!! This is badass!! I have been trying, scraping, rebuilding, scraping again for a cpl years now and I NEVER ONCE thought to use anything else but the vault walls and just vault items. This is brilliant and original. You my friend have just inspired me, I think I finally might be able to finish a semi decent vault 88 lol. Thank you for sharing this, its freakin awesome!!!

I like it, but I'm feeling weird, bc in my head vaults are the cleaner places in the entire wasteland, but at the same time makes sense bc is a place conquered by wastelanders, I don't know... btw, great job man! Question: Did you build only in the Atrium area?

Hi, yes I only built in the atrium area for this build I went for a half completed vault look as it was discovered 210 years after the war and the settlers just added to it. There is also a small build in the University Point Pharmacy entrance that I did not showcase. Thanks for watching!

I guess 88 is my favorite place to build. It has so much room! Not really sure what to do with it all. I decided to build 3 buildings. One was for growing food, one for beds chairs ,and stuff and one ,my favorite, is a restaurant. I did my best with it. Used the vault cafeteria with booths. What frustrates me is that it won't let me place stuff on tables unless it's a shelf built. Of I try while in build mode, objects fall through or it refuses to place them there. I still have plenty of stuff sitting where it's supposed to be, but to place stuff while not in build is a real hassel.

every damn time i wall into vault 88 i am filled with such ambition, only to have it crushed under the frustration of the build menu. it is nice to see others succeed tho.

That's how I feel sometimes too. I haven't built in 88 yet, but I get this feeling in places like spectacle Island and even smaller settlements

Awesome job! I like your idea of it being discovered later so it's only "half vault" kind of feel. Plus building vault pieces is so frustrating!

Love the build, looks like a very believable version of the Vault 88 concept; the facility is wholly incomplete, but the space for it is livable and relatively secure. Would love to see more Vault 88 builds incorporate the lower caves more, but that's basically impossible on console.

Nice vault! I love it. Been doing mine since 2019 and still havent got anywhere. Too busy collecting things around the map and scrapping. I still havent even completed the main Storyline yet 😅

Compared to some of the "settlement tours" I've seen today this one is a great middle ground between "lived in wastelander feel" and a true to life fallout location. I have always felt that the asset import tool in Fallout 4 makes everything you place in the overworld seem bizarre or out of place. Like they don't statically connect with what's around them. However there's definitely some convincing points in this video in terms of design, but I always felt like the settlement system was such a ramshackle mess of a thing- not that it shouldn't be, considering it's a bunch of desperate people building a location together after 200 years of nuclear destruction. But does anyone see what I'm talking about?

I absolutely love what you did with this vault build I love the mixture of buildings and texture and your lighting I love that you didn't just make it a vault using only vault pieces. I did a vault but I left it open so you can see the rocks and cave. I put similar to yours pathing and houses but I like yours much better makes me want to rebuild mine

No that is probably it for this particular build I just wanted to showcase the half vault/shack build. I’m actually pretty much maxing the build limit with what is shown. There are ways to increase the build limit but I’m honestly not much of a fan of vault 88 it has a strange atmosphere. Anyways thanks for watching!

I do like the idea of a "underground city" however, I think that ruins the whole point of vault 88. It is meant to be a haven where people can no longer feel the air of the rough wasteland and settle into a HEARTH of pre-war value, a peaceful vault, one with tons of technology obviously as that was the whole point of vault 88 before the war, a place test technology, but was left unfinished. And I feel it is out duty as the sole survivor to restore it to what it was intended to be, as the sole survivor themself shows obvious distain for the wasteland in general as seen when he/she tames ghouls, calling em' ,"Freaks...". But as Fallout 4 is meant to be a game of creativity, good job.

I prefer the unfinished vault look but you make some good points, I will have to create a proper vault on a different play through soon. Maybe as a brotherhood member as they hoard technology and it seems fitting. Thanks for letting me know what you think and for watching!

question: so does your settlement here get raids still? I like that old drive through place in the north, their is a bridge right in front of it and mobs spawn under it all the time so it creates a lively atmosphere and skirmishes often. this place is epic, but does it ever get attacked?

Yeah Vault 88 still gets attacked, it’s usually by gunners and they spawn in the main entrance. I believe there may be other spawn points but in my experience so far the main entrance is the main spawn point. Thanks for watching!

The Skooled Zone has some great Fallout 4 build video’s such as making wireless settlements and no mod build tricks. I think the rug glitch still works for certain items but I could be wrong. Thanks for watching.

Rug glitch does still work most of the time. Try putting the rug next to item instead of under it while still placing the rug first, and make sure when you select all, you are highlighting the rug first. I'm using a small welcome mat in Sanctuary and it it is doing ok with shack wall repairs. Edit: i am on PC though too, dunno if that matters

They want you to build a vault with all the glitchy pieces, shit cave layout, and all the problems those cause, and you just say fuck it and build a normal settlement in a cave.

My PS4 mod avoiding the Settlement limitation did not work at Vault 88… no I reached the Limit, but for the other settlements I have no Limit. Did I use the wrong mod? Or is there still a limit even without limits?

I’m not sure as I have not used mods for this build. I know that if you keep bringing junk items to your settlement and drop them to scrap them it lowers the limit. Some weapons such as the gamma gun lower it a lot more then most items. I think eventually mods or no mods the size of the settlement will start to effect the game’s performance. Eventually leading to frame rate issues and possible game crashes. Edit: maybe the mod you’re using does not work for DLC settlements.

this settlement and the mecanist of lair can work like player home where i can decorate without fear that items will fall from shelves and tables for load the cells because they are interior settlements and no outdors settlements?

Unfortunately I think that items placed down as decorations have the potential to fall through surfaces on both Vault 88 and the Mechanists lair. Thanks for watching!

Why would you make your vault with regular settlement materials instead of proper vault pieces? It's literally the one place you're supposed to make a vault interior, but you just made another regular settlement in a cave.

There is next to no space left, I used the item scrapping method to reduce the build size so I could continue adding to it but if I continue any further I think I will start to have performance issues and possible save corruption. Thanks for watching.

I havent even got past the overseers desk bug yet. No one seems to know how or to be able to tell me how to fix it. She just sits there like a dumb shit because the desk i make doesnt update the quest. Any help greatly appreciated. The rest of the game is great

I have looked into the issue that you are having and it seems to have happened with other players as well. There are two locations that you can find the overseers desk, the first is under furniture but is not the correct one. The other is under the special listing. Hopefully this helps otherwise it may be a glitch and Bethesda games are notoriously glitchy. If that doesn’t help I may need more info, are you using mods? Also what platform are you playing on?

Yeah the plot fell a little short in some places. I really like the addition of settlement building and the gameplay itself is a big improvement. It’s kinda funny that in FO3 you are searching for the father and in FO4 it’s reversed and instead the player is searching for the son.

The bunk beds are a part of the Home Decor Creation Club pack. Creation club is essentially paid mods so if you want to avoid them there are YT videos on how to make bunk beds but they look different. Thanks for watching.

Nice settlement. but I see some creation club stuff.... which is just mods. It was a way For Bethesda to con console peasants into paying for a very diluted version of what PC players have been getting for free for years now.
