Fallout 76 was a mess when it launched in 2018. So looking at the game now in 2024, has it changed at all?
Well that's my friend Dan and I set out to figure out. Is fallout 76 worth playing in 2024?

Thanks for watching the video if you did! If you’ve been playing Fallout 76, let me know what keeps you active on the game. I know I missed some stuff to talk about but this was the first of hopefully many videos that have this kind of style. Hope you enjoyed. NOTE: The end of the video has audio taken off. Some copyright claim took the music off. I basically said the community is great and you should give the game a shot.

100% the camp building/crafting aspect. This is what REALLY sucked me in and I didn't even know I liked it. I did a little of it in Fallout 4 but it was just a take it or leave it vibe. When playing 76 I really didn't want to do any sort of crafting and that was a main negative for me when starting out. At first I hated that I couldn't loot a bad guy for all his gear (like in Fallout 4). I detested having to craft my own stuff, especially ammo. However as the game progresses and intertwines it into some quests where you learn how to do everything, I surprisingly started loving it a lot. Wanting to design a really cool base (using build tricks) and to collect different new items that come out, to show off to others as well as for my own enjoyment also played a factor. 2nd main thing was not having a game that got my adrenline going like other games. This stood out because I could play casually and lift up my arms and have no sweat stains like i would if I played any of the Cod games, which people never talk about but definitely can't be healthy (at one point I would get tightness in my chest from playing). With F76 I can login after a days work and just relaxingly play and have fun. But I can also put it down easily and come back to it later.

For me, it's trying new builds or tweaking my builds. You can be a power armor heavy gunner, commando, rifleman, melee fighter, bowman, etc. The perk card system is fantastic and I love min maxing to get every ounce of damage possible. There are buffs like food and chems as well. There are so many different systems in the game, including gear, and tweaking all of it for optimum performance gives me endless joy.

Played since Launch, another thing to note is: Players who played BEFORE the NPC'S DLC get special dialouge for quests. Characters will talk about how dangerous something is or remarks on the amount of people around and if you've played before they added NPC's you have options like... "I've been all around since before people came back" "I know what Im doing, been there done that." And other cool secret choices many dont know about.

The fun thing is: the friendly community of F76 is basically that, what the developers had in mind with one the first story lines: get out of the vault and rebuild society as a responder. Everybody takes care for each other and for those who are in need. And it is basically that, what Travis Miles, the radio host in Fallout 4, was always talking about: a vault dweller showed up and gave you a hand or a gun.

The level scaling simplification of the game is also an issue in ESO. I miss when locations had levelled content without scaling. I like going to a place that is horrendous that I know ill be able to handle when I get stronger.
@TraceguyRune
@TraceguyRune 11 ай бұрын
Not having level scaling is what drives me away from video games. Sometimes you want to compete to story. But if the story levels you too slowly, it lures you into zones above your level. Now you get lost as you have to waste countless hours grinding irrelevant content to level up. By that point, you lose interest in the story or even forget why or what you're doing, and you log out for the last time of your life.

Let me leave you with something that will give you bigger hope for starfield. Fallout 76, before its release, was made by Bethesdas B team stationed in Dallas, a much smaller team, and they were given 3 years to work on it. And with constant updates and new content added over 5 years, it's a much better, and playable game. So, after a total of 8 years of development. Starfield has been in development, also for 8 years, by Bethesdas A team, in Austin. They've been working on it since they finished Fallout 4. And, Todd Howard has always said that a space game has been main goal since he was hired at Bethesda 25 years ago. They have much more passion and ambition put into Starfield than they ever did with Elder Scrolls and Fallout

Life without the scrap box is certainly challenging and I did it for my first month of game play but when I found out about “the pit” And the core recharger that comes with it; I had to have that and a and a subscription if I was going to keep playing. I do think that what you get for $15 a month is a bit lacking but at a certain point the game is about unplayable if you don’t subscribe.

The moment when you and your friend downed each other was like the end of a Samurai battle the way you both delivered the final blow and ended up on one knee facing the opposite directions! XD Wasteland Cat's speech was so touching it reminded me that this sense of community and helping people out should always be applied to real life as well as in game, always be kind and help people no matter where they come from or what they look like, be a good person because thats why we are on this planet.

I've been playing this game since the Beta and still do to this day. I've enjoy my experience with it and of course I did have some downs and took a couple of breaks for the game. But I would always come back to it, especially when it gets a new update. Oddly enough, I actually miss the old version of the game. Back when there were no human NPC's. Back when the game felt empty and isolated. It kinda reminded me of how lonely it feels when traveling the Capital Wasteland in Fallout 3 until you get ambushed by a creature or robot. I do enjoy Fallout 76 in its current state, but I wish Bethesda could bring back the pre Wastelanders version in a different game mode or something.

The community is honestly the best part of 76. There’s something for just about any type of player whether it’s pvpers, people who search for grolls or builders. Everyone gets so hype from new updates and new bugs/glitches that come with them that we discover. 😂 I remember returning to the game about a year ago and being terrified of the high level that was trying to help me , she gave up eventually. But when I left, nuclear winter was a thing and people would kill you for the hell of it anyways. It’s so different now but still the same in ways.

I can say without a doubt , we have the best community out there !! Sure you come across griefers from time to time as in any game but i guarantee if theres items you need , help with anything at all , or just something you are wanting , yiu wont have to look hard at all , 76 is the ONLY game i play and i play it faithfully (should probably touch grass😅) buuuut helping low levs and players just starting out is one of my favorite part of the game its always awesome getting a new player into this great game , there is SO much to do ,and yeah it can be a bit overwhelming first starting out but again thats what us veteran players are here for , yiu have the option to not even do the quest , you can jump straight in and just do events , start your camp , roleplay , etc. Once you really get into it and get materials, the camp building feature is pretty awesome and can be incredibly satisfying, ive seen some insane bases in this game , some players strictly play 76 for building also , no matter your playstyle or your interests there is something in fallout 76 for you !! I will always encourage people to experience fallout 76 at least once , all hail todd , all hail bugthesda 🎉😊

The first time I played this was with my friend Matthew. We were messing around and went to the main bar in the Wastelanders update. I was playing the instruments, went into photo mode, and quickly hopped out of it; bugging my character out so that I was moving around while playing invisible drums. It was hilarious and when he did it we’d go to peoples camps and mess around.

I was really resistant to playing Fo76 at first, was even more so when they brought the BoS in to it as I'm a big fan of the lore and some of it didn't quite fit. But I finally crumbled and picked it up 2 week ago. And I'm glad I did I've been having a blast just making it in the world by myself. Hopefully some of my friends that want to play it will give it a try and I can be that helping hand that's been there to help me on the odd occasion.

Same for me with the lore. I rly care about it and I was worried about the kind of Retcons they made to fit the BoS in to Appalachia. But I found a guide and went through the original Brotherhood storyline and then the Steel Dawn/Steel Reign expansions, and I buy it. Nothing was really retconned.

I have played since launch and I play just about every day. I never had that many bugs at launch like so many complained about-- I think probably because at that time, I played solo, so I avoided other players (less crashes and weird stuff that way, I guess). I used to avoid fast travel and hoofed it everywhere, and that let me see a LOT of interesting random encounters and Fallout-ity stuff. My only complaint is that I would like to see more longer questlines come with updates for us players who have already done everything else. It would be a great time for a new player to come in as there is so much to do!

When it comes to new players, I tend to help them learn mechanics, suggest easy starting camp builds, start them on quest chains that will shape their time and character. What I don’t do is give them stuff. The starting struggle is part of the experience. Learning to manage weight, the elation of building that first power armor set, managing ammo counts because you have to loot or make every bullet, finding good looking clothing options from the world, all as a new player makes it fun and interesting.

I played on day 1 and reached level 150 before I quit the game and left it for several years just to come back recently but this time with a friend and starting a new save file. It looks like it's in a better place and I am happy about it but my one pet peeve is the level scaling. I miss being level 20 and fighting a level 50 Deathclaw and dying in 2 swipes. That was really fun, now everything just melts too easily. I wish we could adjust that setting so enemies are always harder and it requires some mutations, ammunition's etc to beat em.
