The thing about Fallout is, the story differs from game to game. You have the foundation what happened leading up to the bombs falling, but each game tells a different story of what came after, for the most part. There's some continuity between certain games, but it looks like the series will tell an all new story, which I'm looking forward to.

They are like anthologies, they follow different people in different places and/or different times in this world. They are connected by the world itself and sometimes by a character or two that make an appearance in several games. Besides Fallout 1 and 2 of course (the best ones, really didn't care for the First Person change :p ) which are literally sequels. This does give them a lot of freedom to create new stories, new characters, new creatures, cause the only thing they have to remain true to is that fictional world.

I also feel that a continuous story isn't even the strong suit of fallout, it's mostly the background lore that you discover. So they could be a bit more loose with that.

Yea, I just take every fallout game as a story of the respective character, one thing may be true and other thing could be just a fake story.

As a fan with over 300 hrs in Fallout 4, I can say this trailer captures the retro-sci-fi-aesthetics and darkly satirical vibe of the game universe pretty well. As others have already pointed out here, it'll be a fresh narrative, so no pressure on adaptation there. They just need to get the "vibe" right, and this trailer looks like a great start.

fallout is the perfect series to make a live action adaptation without touching and ruining the source material because theres a lot of story that is untold and can be told through live action which is perfect

One of the reasons im so excited for this show, is because all the games take place chronologically, (other than Fallout 76 which is a live service prequel) and this show is set 9 years AFTER the most recent game with Fallout 4. Meaning, while its still canon, it doesnt have to do much retconning in terms of fitting itself into the timeline, and can work to set up parts of the world for the games to come. If you guys do a watch-along, i will 1000% be subbing to the patreon for that, cause ill likely be watching every episode 3-4 times anyways, lol. Fallout is my favorite thing ever, and while its gonna be a while before we get another game, with this show coming out in April, and the Fallout MTG Card Set in March, 2024 is looking like a good year for Fallout fans.

I never noticed it before but at 3:13 they literally put the camera angle that you get in the video game for the dialogue sequences 🤯

The nice thing about adapting Fallout is that each game takes place in a different place, and time, so there's really no story beats to follow. Vault 33 has not been used in a game, so the story can be all fresh. As long as they stick with the lore, this show should be amazing.

This show take place 9 years after fallout 4 so its a canon show. will obviously take place in California but some stuff we will see is most likely in Utah and maybe a little navada considering the BOS base is located at wendover military base right in-between those two

I like how this shows that the Fallout nukes are less 'large scale heat blast disintegration' and more 'small scale blast, but high radiation'.

As a fresh 40 myself welcome Augustin... if you guys ever just want to check out the history and lore of the entire fallout franchise, or even pick and choose by game the youtuber "Oxhorn" is probably the best fallout historian out there.

It will be original story in fallout universe. Every game has different area of the world (but based in america) and different vault dweller going out into the radiated world for whatever reason. This looks no different to that concept - someone goes out of the vault into wasteland and starts learning what happened to the world after bombs fell. I personally cant wait for it and I love your reactions, so Im pumped. Fallout world is really something unique. Its apocalyptic vision, but set in a world, whose design is in more than few ways more and at the same less advanced technologically than ours, while also being stuck with design and artistic vision of 50-60s. It is really grim and has a lot of violence, but is often contrasted with lots of insanity, funky 50-60s music and dark grotesque humor. Compare it to unique, post apocalyptic visuals of that time and weird technology and you get fallout. There is no story to be spoiled here, but I hope the setting draws you in as it did many others. Its apocalypse like no other!

The Last of Us and Fallout are vastly different in every possible way. The Last of Us is a linier, cinematic, story driven game. By nature it lends itself to an adaptation very well, aided more by the creator working on the show. Fallout one and two are isometric CRPGs developed by the now defunct Black Isle Studios. The IP was bought by Bethesda who made the series into an open world FPS/TPS with Fallout 3, 4, and 76. Fallout New Vegas was made by Obsidian with former members of Black Isle Studios working on the project. Being RPGs the Fallout games rely much more on lore than specific story (since aside from broad beats, the story can differ based on individual playthrough). Tod Howard's name being attached to the show doesn't fill me with much confidence. Bethesda has treated the games less as a passion project and more as a cash grab.

It's crazy to think that everyone says how terrifying a nuclear detonation in a populated city would be. But America ACTUALLY did that to Japan, TWICE. Totally crazy.

So, this show isn't going to be based on any one game. This is set 15-20 years after Fallout 4, so its the furthest point in the Fallout timeline: Correction, that's 9 years after fallout 4

This is truly exciting that this is coming out. There is so much potential and so many sequels they can make. Later on they could even make TV series of fallout But It have to be done right though with great actors and characters and a good story But I'm not gonna get ahead of myself here. We have to see how this movie is and So far looks pretty promising

From what I understand, this show is supposed to be canon alongside the fallout games so I (hopefully) doubt it'll stray from the game's lore in such a way that it feels like a completely different brand

Fallout I would say has the best chance with a show adaptation then most games, because it has not stuck with a iconic character that we play trhought the games, and it's more abigues making it easier to tell a story in a part of the fallout wasteland that has not be explored in the games yet.

Minutemen are East Coast. You are more likely to see NCR in this show.

@@adambirch2925 Yep. That's why I'm a little surprised they set it firmly in NCR territory. At this point in the story, unless something happened to them off screen, the NCR have gotten a lot of things back to nearly pre-war levels for the average citizen. Towns are well patrolled and protected, farms exist, schools exist... it takes the edge off the setting.

Fallout 3 took place at Washington DC - the Capital wasteland Fallout 4 took place at Boston downtown Fallout New Vegas at L Vegas this took place at LA right? so they have their own story and journey

@@chengkuoklee5734 I believe the canon ending for fallout 4 is Minutemen triumphant, BoS and Railroad survive. If you stick with the Minutemen all the way through you have to go out of your way to make enemies of the RR or BoS. It's also the best ending for the region.

A lot of the visuals look really good. But there is some instances where it looks like human actors plastered overtop of a videogame. Like at the very beginning inside the vault. It looked incredibly cartoon like. Whether this is intentional, because they think it's unique or something or whether it's a case of them having bad Special Effects? Either way, it sucks!!!

Looks too gory for me. Not saying that isn't true to the game, but small pixels on the screen of a body exploding is not the same as it rendered in full quality for TV.

As I've come to understand it, this is a couple decades after Fallout 4 and will not follow any of the prior narratives of the previous games. So, it's set in the same world, but will follow it's own plot and characters. But, as hinted in the trailer, there just might be one furry character who might turn up.

As other posts allude, fallout has a huge base of lore and since this is chronologically after their last game, all they have to do is stay faithful to the past. The premise of vaults that have been sealed up since the war allows almost any story to be told, and the fallout universe to be experienced through new and old eyes.

Hopefully just easter eggs and characters are brought in but we get brand new stories based in the world of Fallout. But I really think if this takes off maybe we get a New Vegas stand alone season cause it's hands down the best main story out of any of the Fallout games

Fallout games have always had issues with PlayStation consoles, for some reason the PC and Xbox versions always run way better. The Far Harbor DLC is basically unplayable on PlayStation.
