Only thing that concerns me is if the writing is treating it as “what if the bombs dropped 2023 and people now talk and act like 2023” Part of the charm of the world of fallout is the fact they were in this futuristic society where the red scare never got away and the US quadrupled down on the plastic artificiality of the 50’s. Like it’s not OUR California we’re discovering. But the California of this bizarre alternate history

Contrast that to F1 and F2 where cities were wastes with very little of the past remaining and mostly being stuff people rebuilt, either completely or whatever shells remained.

Everything looks amazing and was ripped from the games, the armor, clothing and the sets but my only gripe with it is everything looks _too clean and shiny_ to be taking place in a post apocalyptic world. I'm definitely going to be watching this!

Making the show take place separately from the games while still being in the same universe is honestly a great idea, and what should be done with big universes. Use new characters instead of existing ones; while sharing the elements that make the universe unique. Let's hope this won't end up like Halo, shall we?

100%. It just encourages lazy writing when people insist on always focusing on the same characters, as well as making the story get more convoluted and feel unrealistic. This was what became annoying in the Star Wars universe. Not all the interesting thing in a galaxy happen around one family (Skywalkers), and touch on one planet constantly (Tatooine). There's a galaxy full of interesting alien species, but instead of seeing almost any of that portrayed on screen, we get the same settings, and characters over a shallow time span, so show runners can capitalize on fan nostalgia instead of making fresh content.

One of the differences here is they actually worked with Bethesda and Todd Howard to make the series fit with the games. The people behind the Halo show purposely chose to ignore the games.

It really makes me happy to see the level of detail the shows creators are going to in order to bring Fallout to life. From the contrast of the Vault life compared to the surface or the classic post war soundtrack to the attention to detail on the perfectly designed sets. Definitely looking forward to this!

Pretty hyped for this. Love seeing Michael Emerson is in it (the guy saying “you will have to adapt.” Was amazing on Lost for those who haven’t seen it, brings a ton of authenticity to his roles and forces you to take the world his characters are in seriously which is fantastic to have here obviously. 😊

@@TanThighsYumlooks in the trailer like theres action in a lot of different scenes. Various mutant or animal fights shown, clearly going to be some power armor stuff. Vault fight scene looks to be a thing, ghoul gunfight, they cant cram all those into 2 eps

While Tim is the fallout 1 guy, making the engine and getting the team to make the game, he left half way(maybe earlier) through fallout 2 and hasn't touched the IP since. Toddy boy has had more time and done more, for better or worse, for the franchise. Its unfortune but not surprising.

Hopefully it goes well. One advantage is they can make an original protagonist if they dont want to repeat the story of the first game, they only have to get the setting and atmosphere correctly.

Chris Nolan is amazing at making words on a page come to life on the screen with some of the most beautiful filmmaking of our time while Jonathan Nolan is great at crafting more intricate stories that keep people invested.
