This is a good question I take they’ll be leaving that stuff for season 2 and this season we only encountered remnants.

That was my biggest worry about the show was the underrepresentation of the NCR I mean they were supposed to control the entirety of Cali and most of Nevada I don't believe at all vault tech had that many spare nukes to be able to re incinerate an entire country

@@bobross547 Call this coping or whatever but I believe the NCR is very alive, the sign on shady sands says first capital and in vault 4 the timeline states shady sands falls in 2277 followed by the bomb, the fall of shady sands refers to its fall from being the center of the California republic. Since there are talks of season two being filmed I believe the NCR will be a far stronger entity.

My old what he means is their weaponry was commonly whatever could be scraped together, much like civilian groups. As opposed to modern militaries or the BoS, who had quality and standard issue firearms. For example: a current infantry squad in the us army will have 9 guys, and most of em will have m4s, with one lmg guy of some sort. An ncr patrol might have 2 bolt action rifles, a guy with an smg,, another with a revolver rifle, and maybe a guy with a semi auto rifle, but production of those was limited enough to only go to non cannon fodder units.

Imo that was the worst part. It looks so akward. Noone is even following them. The NCR bearer (no pun intended) even turns around around as if they are about to duke it out but then goes "Eh, whatever. Gonna smack this power armor with it instead" whilst the brotherhood bearer is just running into three dudes blissfully ignoring him.

@@skitsnack1 I don't think all the NCR were dead because Moldaver was still fighting outside plus you could hear a firefight outside. And I'm only talking about all the casualties outside plus the few we saw them shoot inside. The NCR remnants lost this battle but given their relative numbers they fought incredibly well and if the brotherhood were to fight the full NCR I suspect they'd be in for a hell of a fight. Not to mention there weren't even any rangers here and I envision rangers are basically the ghoul.

@@josephdoria5237 So hear me out. There's a wild theory being thrown around and from what we have actually seen in the show this theory kind of has quite a bit of strength to it. It's not really much to do with the NCR even though it definitely concerns them. It's to do with the Brotherhood of Steel and actually more importantly, Caesars Legion. So basically everyone is wondering, where is the real NCR? The real question is where is Caesars Legion now? Well the answer to that is, the Brotherhood of Steel in the show IS THE LEGION. People are assuming Caesars Legion failed which is obviously a good possibility still but what about their remnants? What happened to them after New Vegas? Remember Caesars ultimate goal of creating a 'synthesis' with the NCR which would transform the Legion in to a sort of Legion/NCR mix? Well that 'synthesis' ended up happening but with the Brotherhood of Steel instead on the west coast or at the very least the Mojave Chapter. The legions name is dead but their culture somewhat lives on in the Brotherhood. I'm going to bullet point some arguments for this theory. - The Brotherhood of Steel standard when they capture Filly. Look at the design of it and then more importantly look at the colours. They are Caesars Legion flag colours. Red background. Gold/Yellow inner colour. This version of the BoS standard has never been seen before until now. It is very Legion like. - The colour of the BoS logo is now red. So is their uniform. This kind of reinforces the top bullet point. Just search up some legion armour on google, then look at the uniform the soldiers wear in Filly. You will see the similarity. - Maximus? Titus? Thaddeus? Quintus? All names you'd hear assigned to Legion raised individuals. - Quintus is one of the assassins who killed Julius Caesar. - Also, just like how the Legion erased identities of the tribes it would conquer, the Brotherhood erased the Legion but only in name. They retained a lot of what the Legion would be known for or at least would very likely accept as customs. - The show runner who did Westworld hid little details like these in that show on purpose which after when the surprises were revealed, it made sense watching those earlier episodes which people missed the small subtle hints but recognized them after. - Quintus refers to the BoS soldiers as his Legion in one of the episodes. - One of the new reformed ranks is a result of this 'synthesis'. Scribes to 'Clerics'. - The airbase we see the Brotherhood of Steel at in the show is a captured Nellis Airforce Base. It has desert like area. It also takes a bit of time for the vertibirds to fly to LA area. This is near where the Mojave/Legion was in New Vegas. - Only the most esteemed warriors of Caesars Legion were able to use more modern technology. Similar to the way power armor is portrayed in this show and the knights are now referred to as 'Lords'. Warlords to be precise. - Branding squires has never been a thing before. Branding slaves the Legion owned was though. A direct result of the 'synthesis'. - In the show I can't remember who said it and why but I think it was Thaddeus saying it. "You don't know what they will do to you" - referring to the BoS. This sounds something someone would say about the Legions punishments in New Vegas. - When the NCR shits themselves in the show when they realize the Brotherhood vertibirds are approaching. They say "The Brotherhood?" in a worrying tone. That's because it isn't just the fall of Shady Sands that has hit the NCR hard. They're on the backfoot of a losing war with a united brotherhood of steel backed up with a mass amount of Caesars former legion. - With the season 2 taking place in the Mojave. I think more of this will come to light and will be one of the big reveals in season 2. Similar to how the reveal of Vault Tec blowing up Shady Sands happened. What could this mean for the future games? A whole new splinter faction of the Brotherhood of Steel like the one from Tactics. A Brotherhood of Steel civil war at some point? Who knows... Fallout 3 where Paladins visibly take point with their tesla cannons and gatling lasers then knights come in a wave after. Also because a knight's duty is primarily recovering and protecting pre-great war technologies, and protecting their own territories and bunkers from any outsider who does not have a good reputation with them. I’d also like to point out something I noticed in the show, that the fact that a possible BoS defector and the NCR felt like they got a lot more of a spotlight than the BoS itself, I liked that felt good not having the BoS as the main focus or good guy I guess. Fallout 4 was my entry into this series then I played NV

The show felt like the games, and I don't think there's a higher compliment that can be paid.

The NCR controlled a large territory and likely has suffered a few defeats etc since Shady Sands exploded but I suspect that they are likely licking their wounds and trying to regroup somewhere within their territory to lick their wounds and figure out exactly what the hell just happened to them.

NCR rangers probably took a VAULT when they killed off the powder gangers they cleared a vault and are hiding, NCR also use non rabid GOULS as intelligence gathers

Super Mutants can beat a bos knights in melee and rip them right out of their armour as stated by Scribe Bowditch from fallout 3. And if those guys are dirt farmers, then their strength stat must at least be 6 or 7. Being a farmer makes you really strong. The knight gets around 8 or 9 str with the armour on. That's not going to help when 5 guys with str 6/7 are holding you down.

And when push came to shove, they could not. Every major faction who has used the destructive technology that the BOS claims it's saving the world from also thought they were the rightful caretakers and gatekeepers of that technology, and they were all wrong in the end. The only safe faction to possess power armor, laser gattlings, nukes of any size, giant death robots, and giant flying fortresses is NOBODY. If the BOS really wants to protect people from the dangers of advanced weaponry, they cannot horde it, they must smash it into a million pieces so that nobody, including themselves, can ever use it again. And they don't. There's actually dialogue options in two of the games where you can point this out and the characters you can ask have BS excuses all three times (you can ask two different characters in FONV, I believe it's one of the scribes in the bunker and also Veronica.) So no, the BOS is wrong. They don't even believe their own message. If they did, they'd be slagging their own power armor, not using it.

We do know that it's been several years since Shady Sands fell, and these soldiers are remnants, or possibly even volunteers or conscripts, they've likely taken whatever they can get their hands on. Many of their weapons aren't even the standard service rifle, and even their leader has a laser pistol. At least it looked like one anyway.

For everything else, you had dudes with RPDs, you had high cut or bump helmets instead of people wearing combat armor from the game. NCR dudes straight up wearing a plate carrier. And the Enclave guards were wearing Soviet steel helmets and Soviet harnesses with skin tight outfits instead of the officer uniforms and power armored units. Randomly people would have modern gear and weapons side by side with actual fallout props

I dont get it why did they got simple modern things like fast helmets that even have the go pro slot and paintball mask, and rpks... is it really that hard to atleast somehow mask those equipment into a bit more vintage look? like switch the helmet to soem steel ones, drop the masks etc. it really felt rushed. Honestly without the NCR flag and talks I wouldn't even think about it, they looked and behaved like random raiders.

NCR has 4 other states and 700k people as of FO2, it was never said that the NCR was done for, just the specific part of Shady Sands. If they went with the Yes-Man ending, New Vegas being a pile of destroyed scrap is highly likely.

This idea that Bethesda hates New Vegas is retarded. Everyone who worked on NV has said Bethesda offered whatever help they needed in order to make it a success. They practically paid for all the advertising and fixed a bunch of bugs Obsidian didn't have time to. Time that Bethesda wanted to give them but Obsidian were too busy doing the same thing they did with kotor; reuse assets made by another company for a game they couldn't finish.
