@@ItsJustKaya Fissure Machamp can't coexist with No Guard because the only way to get a Machamp with that move is to use a TM that only exists in gen 1. All gen 1 Pokemon that are caught on 3DS virtual console and transferred to a modern game have their hidden abilities, which for Machamp is Steadfast. I'm aware that in gen 9 there's an item that lets you change a Pokemon's hidden ability to be a regular ability, but Machamp isn't in Scarlet/Violet and they'll probably continue to prevent people from getting a No Guard pokemon with an OHKO move lol

I always liked that Machamp's extra arms have their own separate shoulders and not just sprouting out of its torso like most multi-armed humanoids in fiction. It looks awkward at a glance but it has way more range of motion to swing punches and throw people around that way. From a design standpoint it's almost how you would imagine such a creature to realistically evolve if six-limbed vertebrates actually existed.

Machamp is just kinda solid, you know? The deck was massively stacked against it in Gen 1, but ever since then it's been racking up KOs and receiving some unique tools that have kept it a relevant Fighting-type even with Conkeldurr around.

Machamp was one of my favorite Pokémon back when I was a kid, and during summer camp I wanted to do a trade with another kid so I could get one. He said no. I was so frustrated at that, I snuck his DS into the bathroom so I could do the trade and trade-back, and returned it to its original place so he wouldn’t notice.

I remember one time I used a No Guard-Dynamic Punch Machamp in online battles in SwSh, just for fun. Machamp took a total of 1 hit the whole time, and knocked out 5 of his pokemon before he ragequit. I kept hitting punches, and he kept trying to set up on me, probably thinking I’d miss eventually. I had Focus Energy and Scope Lens on it too, for 100% crit rate.

Friendly reminder that going to the gym is absolute useless and is a waste of time and money promoted by dumb people on social medias. If you want to do good for your body, do sports (running and solo stuff count). That's much, MUCH better and useful. And free as well.

Machamp is also one of the biggest "what if" pokemon of all time, as the only Pokemon in the game with access to No guard and an OHKO move. Only problem is, the OHKO more is only available from a transfer from gen 1, and all pokemon transferred from gen 1 have their hidden abilities, so we don't yet have a way to give Machamp back No Guard, as it isn't in gen 9, but if champ returns in gen 10 and gets to keep Fissure, it might become a terror the likes of which have never been seen.

@@SmugLookingBarrel I am late, but I just wanna add to your list of "what if" Pokemon: - Aerodactyl with access to Brave Bird and Head Smash. STAB on both moves plus Rock Head is a potent combination. - Mega Pidgeot with Focus Blast. No Guard Hurricane is a deadly threat, but it lacked powerful coverage against Rock and Steel types.

One fun detail for Gen 1 Machamp is that it is actually good at baiting in psychic types and then eliminating them with Counter. When you do it right, your own explosion damage (or self destruct damage) can be carried over with Counter after you used the mentioned moves above. So if your opponent sends in Chansey as you send in Machamp, when they switch to say Alakazam, or Starmie, or Zapdos then they will take the full damage of the explosion or self destruct through counter on the switch which then KOs it. Extremely funny when you can get this to work.

Reminder that technically machamp has access to fissure and no guard, but that gamefreak disabled that ahead of time with transferring machamp out of gen 1 I can't think of any other Pokemon with this distinct strength

Now here's a video that's old enough where the difference in production value is big enough where it's worth the rewatch, you go FSG you've been grinding it out for years, and it's been long enough that there's a lot of competitive history to catch up on so an update remake is appropriate too. Machamp absolutely could use Rock Slide in Gen 1! I distinctively remember the Pokemon Stadium Round 2 battle against Bruno. The game was enough of a cheating bastard that he had the offensive half of No Guard years before he officially had it. As well as Fissure. So if you used anything that wasn't a Flying type against it, he insta-killed them. If you brought a flyer, he used Rock Slide and usually crit with it. I looked it up on Serebii just to be absolutely sure, and yep, it's listed as one of his TM options.

It didn't make this legal. Fissure is only obtainable via Gen 1 transfer which comes with Steadfast always. Ability Patch can only turn normal abilities to hidden in gen 8 not the other way around. Being able to change hidden abilities to normal ones was done in gen 9

I remember when I played Gen 4 competitive back in the actual days of Gen IV and some guy was running a Guts Fire Orb set with Close Combat and I was like "why not No Guard with Dynamic Punch?" his response was something along the lines of "Yes, I would love giving the opponent perfect accuracy on Hypnosis, Will o Wisp, Thunder, Stone Edge, etc. for the privilege of a weaker Close Combat that inflicts a confusion, which is gone if they die or if they switch. When I can be outright immune to status effects and run a much stronger STAB". He just tossed me out of could nine just like that

Machamp is one of my favorite pokemon to use competitively. No Guard Dynamic Punch is a strategy almost banworthy for how frustrating it is.

It bothers me they didn't banned that, despite that ban compulsioni they have; moreso because, aside from gave data, they gave all that advantage to a Pokemon i totally hate, why to this one, instead to some gorgeous or epic ones.

Machamp's extra pair of shoulders makes it look like it has back abs. Also, Machamp COULD run Rock Slide in Gen 1.

Honestly machamp is one of my favorite fighting types, but not because of the main line games, but he gets so much love in the spin-offs like unite and pokeen

Machamp did have a rough start but later on proved why Machamp was the OG of fighting types in generation 1, even with newcomers like Conkeldurr and Pangoro who would takeover in the competitive scene, Machamp still was fierce in the competitive scene.

Machamp is my favorite Fighting type cause of its awesome & intricate design. They did it so dirty in its debut generation but made up for it somewhat in later gens. How I would buff it is lowering its Sp. atk by 20 and putting that into its HP & defense to be a little bulkier, plus give it Drain Punch too. Lastly, I think the Pokedex states it can throw 1,000 punches a minute, so a lot more believable than 500 a second.

Gotta be one of the coolest fighting types of of all time, i really couldn't pick one that embodies the ethos of the type better than Machamp. Wonderful video as always, grateful for what yall do, i hope FSG continues to be blessed and everybody involved continues to feel interested snd fulfilled in the work beyond it remaining profitable.
