Famadenke by Mafu Conteh - Kora music from The Gambia

5 жыл бұрынMafu Conteh plays his version of the song Famadenke on the kora, which is a traditional harp of the Mandinka people. Filmed by George Smerin in Brikama, Gambia 2018. www.smerin.com
Kora players traditionally come from jali families, who have passed down their skills and historical knowledge of the Mandinka people through the generations. Mafu is the grandson of the great kora player Alhaji Bai Konte.

I want to sing this song. And if I earn money, I’m ready to transfer Mafa. What is this song about? Who wrote it? And can you say a few words about the musician? The mic - Zoom H6 - is just behind the Kora. It’s all live and unedited, just with some extra reverb.
