Before 1974, Varosha was the modern tourist area of the Famagusta city. Its Greek Cypriot inhabitants fled during the Turkish invasion of Cyprus in 1974, when the city of Famagusta came under Turkish control, and it has remained abandoned ever since.
No country other than the Republic of Turkey has officially recognised Northern Cyprus as a sovereign state. The United Nations recognises it as territory of the Republic of Cyprus under Turkish occupation.

Why does your title show the hulk of a Cyprus Airways Trident aircraft which is actually at the now closed Nicosia airport. Nowhere near Famagusta.

My aunt wasn't even born when Varosha was overrun and abandoned, and she is now a grandmother. Holy cow. July 20, 2022 1:00 am (exactly 48 years to the day after the invasion)

Can’t, those buildings are way too far gone, 90% will have to be demolished. Nothing survives the Cypriot sun.

@@sharonleonard6326 Thank you. I will be doing more videos in the new year and improving the quality. I've been toying with the idea of doing a commentary and/or even appearing in them. Up until now i've been too nervous lol Or I may just let the footage do the talking.
