How do you do that harsh but melodic vocal in the bridges? Is it a throat thing or is it layering of vocals and synth, or something else entirely?

Fact: It's a half scream. Practice by picking a note and holding it, and then slowly transition the vocal chords into a harsh whisper. Good luck.
