My appreciation for bass players has dramatically increased since I started listening to Japanese music. It seems as though every great band has a phenomenal bass player & they don't hide them in the mix !! ❤️🎙🎸🎹🥁😎🤘

She was 16 when she made this video. This isn't a cover in the strictest sense of the word, since the original does not include this. It's more her interpretation and addition to Alien Alien. And she is AWESOME TALENTED!!!!!!!!!!

Honestly... nobody slaps bass like Japanese musicans do. Japan has this love relationship with so many things that we've already forgotten or stopped to appreciate. They keep so many genres, styles, playing styles and art forms alive that we in the west haven't heard since 1960's and it's just totally amazing. One of those things being Slap Bass. You're not a bassist in japan unles you know how to slap it! Genre of your music doesn't even come to that discussion, just slap it already! I'm a musician exactly _because_ of japan and Japanese music... I've been very keen to listen and understand them ever since.

Fami's name comes from "FamilyMart" in Japan which is a huge convenient chain store. Fami loves FamilyMart. So, she used it for her stage name. Oh, and Fami is a genius bassist. The video was uploaded when she was 17 years old.

She says her name is derived from FamilyMart which is one of her favorite goodie/convenience stores in Japan. You can say F-ah-me or Fami. Neither is wrong as Japanese themselves use both pronunciations. But yeah her stage name is Fami as in Family Mart. Crazy talented Young Woman without a doubt.

If you watch the audition video for the new bass player for Lovebites, the lady's explain the room lit up or turned electric, when Fami walked in. You can see why from this video of Fami playing her bass.

Fami (Fah mee), Saiki (Sigh Key) I hope these help. I spent a few years in the USN, and was stationed in Japan for a short period... I also had an Uncle that was in Okinawa during WW2, who learned Japanese in a must do situation (his explanation), plus I have always been fascinated by foreign languages. I'm only fluent in English (American) but I speak German, Italian, Spanish, Japanese, Hebrew, French, and to a lesser extent maybe 5 others (Chinese, Greek, Tagalog (Philippines), Portuguese, and Russian). I was stationed in Germany with the US Army for a year, so I thought knowing a few words and phrases would be a good thing.

You should have read the description section of this Fami's video ,though that is written in Japanese : She says her play in the video and the sounds of the video are not one , which means she played something like '"air guitar " in the video ,and later she added the sounds on it. She cannot play like this in reality .
