Welcome to Shenandoah Seasonal, a stunning farm located in northern Virginia owned and operated by Dan and Ali Haney. This small family farm has come a long way, having moved four times before finally settling in their current location, which they are proud to own.
Dan and Ali are experimenting with a technique called "intercropping," where multiple crops are grown in the same bed to maximize space and increase yield. This innovative method allows them to grow a wider variety of produce and make the most of their space.
In this video, you'll get a tour of the farm and see the incredible array of fresh fruits and vegetables that they offer. From juicy tomatoes to crisp lettuce, there's something for everyone to enjoy. You'll also get to know Dan and Ali, who are passionate about sustainable agriculture and are dedicated to bringing high-quality, locally-grown food to their community.
So come along and explore Shenandoah Seasonal, where you can experience the beauty of rural Virginia and be inspired by the farm Dan and Ali are building together!

So amazing to see you guys growing! I remember you two from Chris Blanchard podcast. Was a frequent buyer at farmer market when lived around Reston. Congratulations with your home farm and all the best to your endeavor. ❤❤

It takes a lot of guts and fortitude to move that many times while keeping the business going. Bravo to you!!!

I have been a alfalfa farm for 35 years. I am now retired. I want to wish you all the luck in your venture. We bootstaped our farm also. We know what you are going to experience. I am very envious of your endeavor. Again good luck. I will keep watch of your progress.

I know, Was thinking the same thing. 2 acres is an insane first year for just to people. But it's on their owned land now so I think They're just excited to improve it. 😄

This is awesome! Looking at Richard Perkin's farm, it's often my benchmark, comparing others to it, and I wonder about the differences in time and weed pressure (doing 30 inch beds of compost on top of cardboard with 18 inches woodchip paths between, no till, just the broadfork). Going straight into the ground sounds more labor intensive, but I have no farm experience to speak of, so I don't know yet, I'll see once I finally take the plunge.

the no-till methods your talking about are great. but somewhat limited to the quality of the compost you can get in your area and the price of it. I tried this method and the compost was horrible, my plants suffered and there was a lot of nutrient imbalances that I had to constantly fix. if I'd do it over again I would just grow a spring, summer, and winter cover crop the first year to build up the soil biology and residue. a lot cheaper then compost too and you can treat it like a crop and work out some of your irrigation difficulties without to much pressure.
