In this episode we tackle the end of wheat harvest and the first big break out of straw baling! The fields are extremely wet, so we have to utilize new innovations like the Arcusin Forstak and 4wd telehandlers to clean up the fields as quick as possible with as little destruction as possible. We are running a Massey 2270 large square baler and creating 1100-1300 lb bales. Let us know what you think! Thank you everyone for the support

I think it's kind of funny how almost anyone that owns a big square baler it's either a heston a New Holland or a krone, you see very little of any other brand. We have a Massey Ferguson heston.

Hi just learning about wheat harvest and was wondering who typically buys the straw from farmers and how much could they get for their straw? I hear some farmers burn them, some just leave it on the field, so just curious how much one gets baling and selling. Thanks great video!

Is there a big market for straw there? Live in TN and usually straw either don’t get bailed or is sold in the field pretty cheap. Don’t get me wrong it’s not like nobody bails it and sells it. Just not worth the work to most farmers unless they’ve had it sold to the same people for years.

We had some pipelines run through the area the past few years that really bumped up the price of straw for awhile and farms were pretty happy to bale it up, that phenomenon has kinda subsided unfortunately. Now, demand is back to mostly cattle barns and some dairy farms for feed mix. The past 12 months or so we have seen most stuff sell for somewhere in the realm of $90-160/ton. That's not really numbers that make us excited to make significant amounts each year

@@FarmingInsider that’s pretty close to what it sells here for as well. Mostly to construction companies, water and electric cooperatives, stuff like that. Some bedding, but we don’t have as many dairy farms here as we used to. We do have the walking horse capital near by so I imagine there is a decent demand there.
