I dont think parents should ignore their crying baby, but I dont think an adult, especially a stranger, screaming at the baby. Also giving the child candy would just end up spoiling him/her and make the child think that if they cry they get a treat. But to be fair, who in the mind has the sanity to bring a child to a public place when they know it's just gonna cry at some point? Maybe they should wait until the kids are at a certain age where they can go to public places as long as they're taught to behave. Then again, these days babysitters or nannies are almost hard to trust after seeing that some can become abusive, neglectful, etc. so I can kind of see where the parents are coming from here, but still that's no excuse to ignore a child's crying. Skynet Cyborg You're absolutely correct, none of us should leave, the parents are typically if not always in the wrong. I completely agree. In fact I feel sympathy for the baby because the baby is often seen as the target of scrutiny and scorn in these situations when it never asked to be born much less be born to irresponsible and inconsiderate parents that think the whole world revolves around them and just because they are parents, they should be pampered by society. I hate all of that just as much as the next guy, it makes me sick. But what I am trying to say is a lot of times that's how a good society works, we know we're right, we know the other person is in the wrong, we know the situation is unfair, we might even feel justified to go over there and give these people a piece of our minds and if we did then certainly the more rational among us would congratulate us and defend us, etc... We could do that and if we did we would be right but wait a minute, living in this world demands sacrifice from time to time and maybe we can take pride in that instead of feeling resentment and grief. Now I understand, if this was some apocalyptic mad max environment and I were in the only restaurant in the middle of a wasteland with a functioning water system then maybe under those circumstances I wouldn't think twice about "taking the higher ground" or being a good person and all that but assuming you live in the western world if not the united states itself, we live (statistically) in the most peaceful, progressive, and technologically sophisticated era that human beings have ever had the privilege of being in and I think in recognition of that, these situations are so trivial and so minor and so petty that in the light of such a realization, I can ball up my hands into fist, I can prepare to raise my voice, I can scrunch up my facial expression into the meanest grin that anybody has ever seen but hold on maybe I won't, maybe I don't have to, maybe there's a better way and I'll take that instead. In fact I might even go so far as to forfeit the hypothetical meal that I would have eaten and spend that money on them instead. Yeah believe it, well as long as it's in Denny's because I confess, I never was really into food from there especially there steak, it's gross but I digress. My point is that just because we can and just because we would be right if we actually applied what we can do and think we should do, maybe we can take some time even a couple minutes out of our day to think of a better way to do things and actually feel pretty damn good about it.

Hopefully a parent has to tend to their responsibility
