For anyone criticizing the number of grocery store trips: I’ll just add, I grew up in a family of a similar size. My mom was picking up groceries, almost every day. Huge 6 cart loads of food, sometimes twice a week. You just don’t realize how much food big families go through unless you’ve experienced it. Not to mention the limits of food storage spaces at home. You’re constantly running out of something or else you forgot things the last time you shopped. She isn’t over shopping for content. Hope this helps! ♥️

Why not use all the food stocked in the garage before buying so much food at the grocery store, just wondering?

I stumbled over a couple of videos of yours about a month ago, and even though I do not subscribe, these videos keeps on being suggested to me. So I watched a couple more. First of all HAPPY THANKSGIVING all the way from Norway - Thanksgiving is the one holiday we don't have that I really wished we had! Anyways - it is ONE day isn't it? Cause the 3 videos I watched now, are all about shopping for thanksgiving! I live in maybe the richest country in the world, and our welfare system is amazing, but I don't know ANYONE, even with a lot of kids, that are able to buy these huge amounts of food, for just one day. Or even a month. Did you really spend over $2000 shopping for one day? I am a single mum of 4, and my grocery budget is $480 a month. In a country not only richer than the US, but also SO MUCH MORE EXPENSIVE! I make do on $480 a month. I have to. I never throw away food, I max out on every ingredient, I am creative with what I have, and most of all: I am teaching my kids to be thankful for what we have. I would never (because I can't afford it AND because it teaches kids the wrong thing) let my kids impulse buy into my shopping cart or eat at the shop. I am a generous mum, but if I gave them everything they wanted (and more), they would have a hard time when they get older and move out having to be careful with their money. I guess not all Americans are able to spend like you do, and I guess a lot of people do not even have a days worth of food in their fridge, how amazing would it be to see a series of videos from you giving food to people (shelters) that are less fortunate! Again - Happy Thanksgiving to all of you!

I'd much rather see these kids being well fed than seeing healthier hauls or less wasteful hauls. I grew up in a household that never had lunch food or snacks even though the money was there. My mom under shopped for her 3 kids - preferring to have well rounded dinners and some breakfasts over having any lunch or snacks available. I remember being unnecessarily hungry at all lunch times. It created a very poor relationship with food and a lot of fear around eating when hungry.

Alicia, you need to try pistachio marshmallow “salad”. It’s the pudding mix Harlee grabbed along with crushed pineapple, cool whip, and marshmallows. It sounds weird but it’s SO good! I genuinely think your family might enjoy😊

I love how you specifically get something for each kid, that they enjoy, instead of just saying, eat what you get. When my daughter was young, I let her choose many of her favourite things, too. I don't like forcing kids to eat, what us adults think they should eat, without giving them any say in the matter.

Everything in the supermarkets in America seems to come in massive packs. The ham, the yogurts, even the wraps! In the UK everything comes in much smaller packs x

Have you considered getting one of those all-terrain wagons? They fold up fairly small, carry a bunch of weight and can hold a lot of things because the sides are fairly tall. My family has a couple that are used for garden harvest and getting all of the groceries out of the car in one trip. They also use it for sporting events when they have a lot of things to carry-like on days when my niece has soccer championships all day long. They easily hold folding chairs, coolers full of food and drinks for 6-12 people, extra soccer balls, blankets/rain jackets/etc. Could save you a lot of trips back and forth when unloading your van.
