I found in old newspaper list of men who evade military service (name of evader, names of his parents, his birth date or at least birth year, place of residence...)

Anderson family branch one generation after moving to USA married in a Mennonite church. The fathers' first names were changed to either Latin or Bible names.

To a certain extent, we in Jordan use birth certificates. We use our ID cards mostly for visiting touristic sites and other actions.

The most common problems I've ran into are typos from people not being able read the year due to sloppy cursive or damage to the document, being born before 1935 in a rural area and destroyed records the classic court fire excuse, in my case there are more records of my great great great grandparents than my great great and great grandparents because they were born in more established cities and their children and grandchildren were born in Texas and Oklahoma when they were young states or not even states.

Guardianship records are held at courthouses where the child was residing at the time of his parents demise.

Keep in mind also it may have not been the parents to record the birth but the doctor. My uncle was born at home (1920s) By the time the doctor got back to his office and filled out the paperwork he had forgotten the name. So my uncle had one name on his birth certificate and went by a completely different name throughout life.

Yes!!! I've seen this happening while indexing records. There would be a list of 30 names from one doctor, 15 from a midwife, and so forth. The dates were chronological by official, not by the child's birth. It was rather confusing.
