I just saw the Nier Orchestra Concert in LA two weeks ago and I've been dying to play another song from the game. When the orchestra played this one during the Nier Gestalt segment, I remembered how beautifully perfect this melody was. I loved the way the chords change during the chorus and realized it paved the way to some of my favorite moments in Nier: Automata, including this version of the song!
This week I spent a bit more time on the mixing and found I really liked riding the rhythm guitars up a bit more than I have in the past. I've had some feedback saying that my mixing has tended to be a bit crushed in dynamics and I have a feeling that it's because of how close the lead guitars and rhythm guitars clash, not to mention when I ride the rhythm guitars this loud, people tend to complain that the leads can't breathe through it... but man does that intro sound good with the rhythms that hot. I think this time around I decided to just go for what sounded awesome to me and while I'm still always making strides with my production, I'm very proud of how far it's all come.
I recently bought Spitfire orchestra strings and this is the first cover I used them in! you can hear Albion ONE during most of the song so I hope you like it as it'll probably be what I use for orchestra strings from now on! Super excited to experiment with new sounds in the coming months.

Original Nier, altought on it´s own thematic, has a very good soundtracks (like half of Automata are reworked Nier tracks) Drakengard 3 has a very solid soundtrack, drastically different from Nier and Automata, but still damn good. But Niers are the sons of Drakengards, literally same saga haha. Drakengard 1... WELL! I CANT SAY IS BAD, DEFINETLY NOT BAD, JUST... special XD

First is medicrore I hear but automatas a modern masterpiece and u can play it without playing the predecessor. Be warned though it's a pretty long game if u would want to play it

@@Joker-nh6dd The first NieR does have some flaws, but it's a wonderful game and it has the best OST ever. As for Automata, for some reason nearly everyone seems to worship that game, but I personnally didn't enjoy it at all. Even the music, while decent, is way below the first episode's OST.

Something about Keiichi Okabe's music in Nier and Nier: Automata simply transcends all genres, just like the game itself. Great cover!

This game hit me at a time in my life when I was reevaluating my entire worldview, and it forced me to ask questions about myself no other game had before. Its soundtrack is something akin to a religious experience for me, and this cover does it justice.

This track is one of the best examples for why the Automata OST is close to being without equal. And this is an amazing cover - you really captured that sense of melancholy mixed with the high tension very well. Especially during the chorus, if it can be called that (sheesh, that bit will never not give me the shivers).

I beat Automata over a year ago, so I finally went back and beat the first game, Nier:Gestalt in the last 2 weeks. I fell in love with this song. Dude. You literally couldn't have timed this better.

Man I really love Nier's soundtrack. They are fantastic games. This song still make me think more of the original game, Song of the Ancients was always a favourite of mine, but Automata is still great too. This cover is fantastic as well, definitely manages to capture the tone.
