If a promotion got created today you'd find that robbie lawler somehow fought in it, the guy literally fought everywhere and everyone

He's mainly fought big shows since 2004 Like 1-2 Elite XC and KOTC, Strikeforce but mostly the biggest. So have all the big names tho. I would say Eddie Alvarez is a way bigger journeyman

“I’m not telling you nothing you don’t already know”. References to wrestling gimmicks that only existed in promo form is why I’m still here

Just in case anyone didn’t know, PRIDE had a different scoring criteria and that’s why Ricco Rodriguez lost to big nog. Takedowns and top position mean absolutely nothing, they only score offense. If you have someone in your guard but you’re getting pounded into hamburger helper, of course that’s scored against you. But you can also spend the entire fight on your back, and if your opponent happens to not be active enough while you’re spamming submission attempts, you’ll get the nod. TLDR, to win a decision in PRIDE, you need to look like you’re constantly chasing a finish. They don’t care about position, only your attempts to get a finish.

@@ghjkymg8323 according to the new rules, it kind of is. The judges are supposed to score a fight based on damage first and foremost, and your attempts to finish a fight are a distant second. Everything else is a far removed after thought. This is according to the rules of how to score a fight in the UFC. It’s not that the rules need to change, it’s that the judges and SACs are utterly incompetent.

@@BiggityBoggity8095 this^^^ the rules and scoring criteria aren’t the problem at all. It’s the enforcement of those rules and criteria, judges are way too inconsistent.

@@zackhicks5320 if I had my way, decisions wouldn’t exist in combat sports. Judges are a stupid concept to begin with. All fights should go to a finish. This is for pros and ammies alike.

@@BiggityBoggity8095 I understand that, take out the “human error” of deciding fights. But honestly, anything would be better than what it is now. Something has to change soon regardless

Fair point, though I interpret the video description as more about fighters whose time in Pride is seldom talked about, as in it is a minor point of their fame. That's certainly the case for Lawler, Severn, and Abbott, for instance.
