My favorite moment of Sam Witwer's portrayal of Palpatine in this is when he said, "...andthenyouwilldie." It just made me laugh at how fast he delivered that line.

It's sort of poetic justice that Palpatine created the rebel alliance. That sort of large scale chess play got him to power but he underestimated his pawns and overestimated his own abilities.

One line I love from the Wii version of this game is between Starkiller and Proxy on a mission to the Jedi Temple were after Proxy is done talking to him as Darth Vader which goes like this. P: Ugh, I hate being him. S: I think he does too.

One thing you didn't mention is his exchange with Koda; "Are you insane! It's massive!" "You're a jedi, boy! Size means nothing to you!!!" I felt it was really the moment when Koda started to regain his spirit. He actually sounds a lot more enthusiastic in the wii version and you can tell that Marik's potential and efforts have really made him love the force again. Before then he seemed to hate the force as it was the cause of his misery but now he again sees how awe inspiring and amazing the force really is. I also like how the wii version is so different with the inclusion of a Bespin mission.

I like how in the novel Starkiller doesn't really compete with Palpatine. He just threw a piece of debris at Palpatine while he was focused on Kota, the Palpatine pretended to be defeated. It shows that Starkiller isn't some overpowered force god so many people believe him to be.

Well, he did drive Sidious to "desperation" during their Force lock per the novel. And Galen generally needs to have this level of power for it to be reasonable for him to be considered the threat that he is ( as Jen mentioned ). But yes, Galen is inferior to the likes of Sidious.

[[Galen Marek also was to the point of passing out in the novel from exhaustion.]] I keep hearing people say this yet in no source about TFU have I found anything to indicate that this was the case. When I've asked people to back up their claim they failed to respond to me. Do you mind providing a quote for what you're saying?
@AntoineBandele
@AntoineBandele 6 жыл бұрын
That feat is over inflated and misunderstood. “The scaffolding around the nearly completed Star Destroyer had bent and torn completely away, *leaving the ship free to power down into the atmosphere of Raxus Prime.* Already it was visible as a distinct triangle growing orange around its leading edges and conning tower. It was coming directly toward him. … The Star Destroyer didn’t appear to have moved much in the sky. It was still coming in low on the horizon, aiming to pass over him and strafe him from above. He shifted his hand a second time, but instead of changing its course he mistakenly gave it a slight tumble. *He needed to apply the Force the right way for this to work,* taking the growing forces of friction and shifting of its center of gravity into account. A spinning Star Destroyer would do more damage than one boring itself nose-first into the cannon and its superstructure. … Abandoning his control over the ship, knowing there was nothing now that he could do to alter it course, the apprentice staggered backward, dazed. *The Force fled from him, leaving him wrung out and drained.* With a sound like the world ending the Star Destroyer completed its first and final journey.” _Source: Williams, Sean. Star Wars: The Force Unleashed. Del Rey Books. 2008. Print._ And this is all pretty moot in the context of a heated duel when Galen failed to break the Force wall of even intermediate Force users.

@Ironinquisitor: Nowhere in the quote Antoine provided does it say that Galen was "on the point of passing out." He was drained/tired, sure, but there's a difference between being drained and nearly passing out from exhaustion. A great example of this is Starkiller in the TFUII novelization. He's literally stated to be "shaking with exhaustion" right before engaging Vader yet he's still able to exploit openings in Vader's defenses and ultimately overcome him. "The tips of his lightsabers shook. He had never felt so exhausted, at every level of his being." - The Force Unleashed II.
@williamhenning4700
@williamhenning4700 6 жыл бұрын
@Antoine Badele: [[That feat is over inflated and misunderstood.]] Generally, I agree with this. [[And this is all pretty moot in the context of a heated due I generally agree with this as well, though I don't think it should be completely dismissed as it's a showing of what Galen can do when he has time to gather his power. We're shown he can casually blast away an army of hundreds of droids even right after accomplishing the Star Destroyer feat when, as you pointed out, he's noted to be "wrung out and drained." "It was already over, but the Core still had some fight left. Hundreds of slave droids converged on the apprentice, hoping to crush him under their combined weight before he could reach the nearest processor. He blew them away with a single push." - The Force Unleashed. He also did this in his first mission to Raxus Prime before undergoing multiple power growths in case you're inclined to believe the above is an outlier ). "Soon the foyer was full of the twitching, smoking bodies of the temple's hapless guardians. He began to tire, not from exertion but from the tedium of knocking down droid after droid, to no apparent end. There might have been thousands of them. Deactivating his lightsaber, he took a deep breath. With one mighty exhalation of power, he blasted all of them-those in pieces and those approaching with needle-tipped fingers and vibrosaws upraised-out of the foyer doors." - The Force Unleashed. Which is mostly why I disagree with the last part of your comment. [[when Galen failed to break the Force wall of even intermediate Force users.]] Galen has never attempted to break the Force wall of an intermediate Force user ( not any that I'd consider intermediate ) and failed outside of his first mission with Rahm Kota. You might be referring to the Shadow Guard on Nar Shaddaa, but as I pointed out in my comment for this video, Galen was not "drawing on the full power of the Darkside" until after Kota had left the immediate area and right after he does, he easily overwhelms the last Shadow Guard. "Glancing around for Kota, he was relieved to see that the general was nowhere nearby. Now he could summon the full power of the dark side." - The Force Unleashed.

2:20 - Some have theorized that Galen actually did die and that Vader brought him back with essence transfer. 5:38 - Glad you mentioned this. I see a lot of people overlook/ignore this detail in vs debates. 8:09 - Actually, the TFU campaign guide notes that Vader had planned to overthrow the Emperor with Galen but it was Sidious finding out about Galen ( as in he didn't know about him prior to that point ) that caused Vader to betray him. 14:13 - Rahm indicated that he knew who Galen was on Nar Shaddaa at the end of the novel and Galen seems to believe Rahm has a strong enough connection to sense his use of the Darkside ( Edit: Ah, you cover this later. ). Juno: "You always knew who he was, didn't you?" she asked him. Rahm: He nodded. "I suspected, yes." Galen's Thoughts: "Glancing around for Kota, he was relieved to see that the general was nowhere nearby. Now he could summon the full power of the dark side." - The Force Unleashed. 22:52 - Ooooh. I never knew that. Mind elaborating on that here in the comments? 47:10 - Should note that while I'm sure such a feat wouldn't be easy to accomplish for anyone, Galen had expended a decent amount of energy beforehand ( in the comic ) powering a cannon which destroyed a structure that dwarfed Star Destroyers. 53:03 - Couldn't agree more Connor. 1:08:17 - Just going to point out here that Galen didn't "give himself completely to the Lightside of the Force" until after he had engaged in his Force lock with Sidious when he saw Juno and the Rebels about to be gunned down. The power that made his feats with the Darkside look like he was a child was the blast that allowed Juno and the Rebels to escape.

I don't know why people complain about the whole "your body in the vacuum of space" thing, the science is mostly right, in that if you were exposed to the vacuum of space you wouldn't explode, you would most likely die of oxygen deprivation.
@HazarTulum
@HazarTulum 6 жыл бұрын
Tim T technically, when you're exposed to the vacuum of space, you retain consciousness for around 15 seconds, and you wouldn't actually die till around 90 seconds in.
@jonathancampbell5231
@jonathancampbell5231 6 жыл бұрын
Exactly. I think Evan and Jensaarai have a weird idea of how a hard vacuum works, especially if you consider how it might affect superhuman warriors attuned to a mystical energy field. Lack of oxygen isn't the only thing that will kill you in a vacuum, but it's the main one, and if you are only exposed for a few minutes it's entirely possible to survive and recover without too much fuss. You'll need medical attention, but we've rarely seen characters who didn't get it, and think Starkillers rebuilding was more because of Vader stabbing and beating him than throwing him into space.

I would say it's probably the fact that the myths are more often seen than the facts, the idea that we'd explode in the vacuum of space is rapidly seen in media from the past and barely a number of authors have addressed this issue or adjusted. It's also in video game mechanics that vacuum of space, you die instantly. Not to mention Star Wars is already odd with space as it is and generally speaking. I mean, this is a universe where sound can be quite clearly heard in space and it's more jarring when sound is not used than when it is. Not to mention that you can have fire in space as well and that's not even a Legends exclusive thing, it's in the Revenge of the Sith film so uh...

I have to say, Sam Witwer is my third favorite Palpatine: 1. Ian McDiarmid (he's the original. And, when he's not hamming it up in Revenge of the Sith, he is one of the BEST parts of the prequels) 2. Tim Curry (The Clone Wars season 5 finale; the Lost Stories. It's mostly a case of being blown away. I went in expecting one thing- Tim Curry to do his Tim Curry thing- and I got something else, and I was just awestruck by it) 3. Sam Witwer 4. Ian Abercrombie (The Clone Wars up until his death mid-season 5) 5. Nick Jameson (Clone Wars microseries)

Jensaarai, just a few notes for Palpatine and Vader in Rebels. Palpatine doesn't know the Rebels the same way we do. He only knows them by their actions within the empire. He has been watching for some time and has seen this Rebel Cell: - Evade both Tarkin and Thrawn, which means they are capable of strategy when necessary. - Kill several Inquisitors, who were there to take out anyone below knight status, so he knows they could be a threat in the future - United several cells and have both Mon Mothma and Saw Gerrara on their side, who definitely are worth his attention. - Summoned Bendu, a giant Force Demon and other force spirits, so he might also fear what happens if they get someone like Bendu on their side. - Conquer a Sith Temple and steal a Dark Side Holocron -Of course we know they didn't do it on their own, but his only Intel on the matter came from Vader who showed up long after that business was settled- Also remember that Palpatine has always wanted to replace Vader. And Ezra would be a good choice because a- he has strong potential in the force, b- he is young and immpressionable, which means he could easy to manipulate and indoctrinate into the Sith ways, unlike Vader who already has been shown to want to overthrow his master. c- he's been working with the rebellion, so he could have information on their military and how to take them down easier. d- if he's had the sith holocron for some time, there's a good chance he will already have some knowledge of the dark side (which we know he has and he does) Overall, it makes sense he would get involved.

the Inquisitors are a canon fodder, they are fallen padawans or low level knights. The Grand Inquisitor, the strongest one of them is like tier 6. Seventh Sister and Fifth Brother were killed by Maul, the eight one died because of the fall, the sixth one was killed by 18 year old Ahsoka, using force crush on his lightsaber crystal... BUT when you see that Vader was hunting Jedi, and their job was hunting children and padawans and low level knights it makes sense.

Actually the Grand Inquisitor was a Jedi Temple Guard, who had the job of, well, you know, and he was a character who was powerful and knew the lightsaber forms pretty well and Kanan ended up defeating him. I have speculations on the battle there but it'd be going too off topic here. The Inquisitors are much less along the lines of "canon fodder" and a lot closer to the lines of a specialist. It's not like in the EU where they were a dime a dozen or you'd have somebody who had a bunch of them under his beck and call. Also Ezra is a powerful force sensitive with great potential but Ahsoka Tano was the bigger focus of the Emperor, and with good reason. He knew her personally, he knew she was formidable and powerful... and he knew that killing her would be another test for Vader.... In the end, the actions in Rebels don't *always* catch the attention of Palpatine but the parts that do at least make more sense than the video lets on.

Something that I recently noticed is that on the Xbox 360 version of the game is that if you just stand around and don’t block, Galen occasionally uses tutaminus like Vader and obsorbs it or sends it back. i went back through the novel and found instances that could be read as him doing the same .( though in this case I fully admit I may have misunderstood what I read. For your own research I found these on p32, 61,141, and 268.) I don’t have a ps2/psp/ wii version to see if that is included there, but I thought I’d point it out if the fanalysis council uses him in a future video and wanted to look further in to it. I understand if you don’t but Galen Marek is my all time favorite Star Wars character and the idea that his abilities in defense are stronger than I though makes future vs matches intriguing.

On the Wii version of the game, the player doesn't break out of the prison station and instead it is a cut scene. I never realized that he was given cybernetic enhancements in that station along with being revived. He returns to Nar Shadda to find Rahm Kota as that was the last place he was and the player gets to explore a little bit and kill various thugs and criminals at a pretty cool bar. And that's also where the player first meets and fights the Shadow Guard. You're comments on them are very interesting as they only appeared in this game. I wish that there was a couple more materials out there that expanded on them. Not too much to take away their mystique, but I would like to see them in action more. The mechanics in this game are interesting compared to the Wii version. While the purge troopers and jet troopers are equally tough in both cases, the difference is how to handle them. The purge troopers in either versions are extremely tough. Lightning is good because it is the only long range weapon the player has other than debris and explosives. You are forced to think tactically and it's best to separate them and attack individually. For the jet troopers, lightning won't send them careening away to explode. It instead short-circuits their packs to when they have to drop down to the ground, but the player only has a few seconds to close the distance and deal with them with their lightsaber before they jump back into the air. They also carry repeating blaster rifles that can bring down the player's health if they're not putting up a continued defense and flame throwers for close range. For the Wii, Galen doesn't return to his family home and has a vision of his father there. Instead he returns to the Jedi Temple (Vader had ordered him to go through Jedi Trials as he is training himself to deal with Jedi) and it is in the Jedi High Council room where he experiences the vision and fights his father to save Vader. The dialogue is rather interesting between the two of them. I always wondered when the Vader mission to Kashyyyk takes place in comparison to _Dark_ _Lord_ . There was also no skyhook in the other game. You kill the Imperial overseer (or governor, I'm not sure which) and rescue the princess. You do get to help a wookie insurrection but it's not that important to the plot. It's similar for Felucia in that there are some areas that there changed in the levels. In the other game, the player doesn't travel through the giant sarlaac but the Empire does have a presence. He finds Bail Organa by locating his guards who tell them where to find the senator and who had captured him. Speaking of Maris Brood, I remember around the time of the game there were quite a few lightsaber build-sets that featured her tonfa handles. Just like for Kashyyyk, Bespin, and Felucia, on Raxus Prime there is a change compared to other games. There is no PROXY boss fight against Galen Marek but instead it is another Shadow Guard. You're comments on this fight and on Maul were rather interesting as is your analysis on the falling star destroyer that Galen Marek brings down. 56:57 Lol Evannova, I don't think I've ever seen you be sassy. A surprise to be sure, but a welcome one. I also like how we see this conversation go on by the lighting and shadows on Jensaarai's room. By this time only half of his face is lightened and the other is covered in shadow and I really like it.

They never go into detail on the matter, though I don't see any reason why he wouldn't be able to procreate.

Do you think Disney would be doing a better job with Star Wars if Michael Eisner were in charge.

I enjoyed this review a lot, basically. It was felt like reminiscing about a piece of my adolescence. As a kid I had played the PS2 version and wasn't even aware of these little nuances between consoles. Nice work guys. But seriously that was a lot of basically's. I only bring it up because I remember Jensaari had mentioned he wanted to work on becoming a better orator, and it was so prolific towards the end it took me out of the conversation.

If Darth Vader is incapable of using force lighting do to his suit. How does Galen learn to use it, let alone as well as Palpatine?

Darth Vader can't use the ability himself because all his limbs are mechanical but he clearly understands the ability and how it works and it stands to reason that he trained Galen Marek in its use.

A little question I always had about the scene where Starkiller wakes up on the operating table was after Vader said "We need a distraction." and he reaches out for the red release button, but starkiller looks scared before he presses the button, why?

Probably because he's not sure what that button's going to do.

Great commentary guys. It's good to watch new stuff from you guys. For Jensaraai1, I've noticed that you have a pet phrase "it's like", specially when sometimes you end up saying it two or three times in a sentence. I'm just mentioning it because it is something I think you may want to work on. Have a nice day.

Reti4 - Thanks for your support. I'm glad you enjoyed. Unfortunately we all have little vocal habits like that. I'm one of the worst for them, I latch onto a word and then use it repeatedly for a few days/weeks before moving onto a different one. We try out best to avoid them but they're always going to sneak in on occasion.

Well, thanks for the content. And I know, it's happened to me too with "you know?" and other things. I know it's not something done conciously, just something we say to keep making noise while we think of what we actually want to say. In any case it's not until it's pointed out that we realize we are doing it so I thought I'd let Jen know :)

17:45 while I agree the inquisitors in rebels aren’t very interesting or powerful ( with the exception of the grand inquisitor of season 1, voiced by legendary Jason Isaacs) except for jerric and his group the original inquisitors suck too. Jerrec is a fun character with a fun group, but he’s the only thing interesting about the group in legends. Lumiya and Sedriss from dark empire are also the only two interesting characters below Vader post ROTJ. I happily admit that legends inquisitors were more powerful, they weren’t much more powerful ( or interesting). So I don’t really mind the inquisitors in canon ( though they are diet can dark siders)

Ok, the Purge troopers were not that bad. Then again, I didn't find this game that hard in gen except the Darth Vader boss fight. That was insane but so much fun.
