Their smart marketing strategy garnered excellent results. They had a strong presence on social media, were broadcasting their videos, their practice and their “every day life” even before their debut and already had fans in SK but also on an international level. Like RM said, they were born in the right era, where technology and internet allowed them to have worldwide recognition. Add that to their talent and hard work and charisma, they just got what they deserve. And they deserve the world,

@@altez6483 Nope. All idol groups had good marketing strategies, some even better. If what you and RM say was true, other idol groups would have made it just as big when people in the west discovered them. These guys just wrote and performed at a different level than anyone else in the industry. Still do. Yes people have to know you exist, but then you have to deliver the goods. BTS have over-delivered for years. RM is rarely wrong but this time he was. He's just being modest.

​@@nillilinuna446 Agreed! I think RM said that to be modest like "oh we were lucky to come up in the social media era" but so did every other group at the time. The most important factors that set BTS apart were their meaningful lyrics, their sheer talent in rap, dance and vocals, and the fact that they brought amazing energy to every performance. Unfiltered behind-the-scenes videos and memeing on twitter definitely helped build their relationship with ARMY, but the quality of their music and performances is 100% the main factor in their success, with social media being secondary. I remember trying out a ton of groups around that time, and Bangtan was by far the one that stood out the most. Once I actually listened to their albums, read their lyrics, and learned how much input they had in their music I was swept away!

They were and are so amazing! Just to be clear though, this whole crowd wasn't there for BTS, they were the opening act at a festival with several more famous artists performing after them. Of course as you can hear from the screams and people singing along there were definitely plenty of ARMYs by this point already, but this performance is notorious for converting a lot of new people who walked in not knowing who this rookie group was, but walked out as ARMYs!

He only started doing that since BBMAS 2017, when people began referring to him as the 'third one from the left'

탄이들은 데뷔 때부터 라이브로만 공연 했습니다 처음 부터 실력이 짱짱한 신인이라 견제도 심했고 남준이와 윤기가 언더그라운드 출신이라 진짜 핍박이 심했어요 그리고 대형소속사의 보이지않는 방해로 방송출연도 작은 공연 자리까지도 못나갈때가 많았죠 실력 빵빵한 신인이 나오면 대형소속사가 좋을건 없으니 진짜 힘들었을겁니다 저날도 간판 퍼포머가 권지용 인데 방탄이 더 주목 받았죠 노력은 절대 배신하지 않는다는걸 방탄 을 통해 배웁니다 어쨌든 지금은 전세계를 쥐락펴락 하는 월클 이니까 누가 뭐라해도 방탄 이 최고니까 저는 방탄이 장가가서 지들 똑닮은 아가손 잡고 다닐때까지 곁에 있으려고요
