Artanis said that because the first rendering of StarCraft used the Warcraft II engine, and first looks at the game caught a lot of flak for being "Warcraft in space", causing them to rewrite the engine and change up the graphics.

+Corey deh Man teh new expansnion is a lot of fun TBH, theres alot of shit added (like co-op missions) and archon mode (2 people control 1 base) tahts really fun and quite easy to play. So if you used to get shrekt online, well now is the best time in the world to come back.

I do remember Artanis, cause that first mission with him was fun. They could've put him in the story of SC2 before Legacy - maybe more people would remember him. Zeratul is pretty damn awesome, though! I need a map where you play with Zeratul alone against a fuckton of hydras. Why did Zeratul have to die so early in the expansion... Artanis said in brood war "this is not Warcraft in space" but I think he might be eating his own words now. The story really could've been so much better - it had its cool moments at least, but it certainly didn't seem like it will be so Warcrafty during Broodwar. They could've spared us the whole prophesy and Natural Force-like dark entity responsible for all things evil. If they wanted to unite the races that much, there were many, many ways to do so.

It's true that if you just 'jump online' and try to play people, it's just a bunch of timings and cheeses... but once you start to understand the game better, you start to see a balance in it and where you can, in certain circumstances, cut corners and get ahead, or hit an earlier timing, or hide tech, etc. Then the game becomes really beautiful. It's a bit like chess... don't expect to come up with something that no one's ever seen before, but if you take the time to learn the game, you'll get more out of it.

Eh, i cant even beat very hard bots. I need to collect some korean essence to git gud. Whenever i start microing I forget to build units and stuff for several minutes and keep mixing up hotkeys and ctrl groups. I want to enjoy this game but I'm too fking noob at multitasking T_T

@Momocha Sharma it is not really hard to defeat AI bots even at cheater level if you are talking about 1vAi o: how long do you play? I am able to defeat elite Ai after I got into SC2 for 2 weeks

When people aren't that good they use build orders. But build orders can only take you so far. When you are in the higher leagues everyone knows the build orders and have figured out different ways to counter them. Humans are unpredictable, you may think it's a DT rush only to find that he cancelled the Dark Shrine after you scouted it and went straight for the Blink Stalker all in. Now you don't have enough barracks to fight the stalkers because you wasted minerals on turrets.

It just amazes me how Starcraft spawned so many memes without people knowing they were from Starcraft. Zerg Rush, You must construct additional Pylons (There's even an official Cards against Humanity card with that text), and the Medic was in every "Top 10 best dubstep drops" videos at one point.

+Armando Montero I was thinking this. In fact, I think the protoss sound a little too different from each other for that very reason. Hell, they don't actually have a voice - they communicate telepathically

+Armando Montero The Protoss don't share one mind nor one voice. They all have different minds and voices, just like us humans. If you listen to Artanis's voice, you can tell that he is a lot younger than Zeratul, who has a much darker voice. Sharing one mind would mean that the Protoss are a hive mind, but it's the Zerg who are a hive mind, not the Protoss. Their thoughts are connected via the Khala, which lets the Protoss know where they are, what they are saying and thinking, and other stuff like that.

TohinArashi The protoss don't physically speak; they're telepathic. The reason humans have different voices is because of physical differences in the larynx, throat, and mouth. So in a way it doesn't really make sense how the protoss could have "human-like" voices at all, and I'm not really sure how they can speak through their electronic communication systems either. But, I think to simplify things for the consumer and make the protoss more likable, Blizzard chose to leave out details like that.

Peter Schmidt Yeah, most Protoss communicate through the Khala though. They also speak telepathically for other beings who are not connected to the Khala, such as Terrans and Dark Templar. I was not really trying to say that the way the Protoss have voices are similar to what humans have, I was just trying to correct the original commenter, who worded his comment to sound like the Protoss are a hive mind, which is wrong altogether.

Only if it's the 2D originals. The 3D ones lacked the suspense of the original and the fun stuff of sending mook units to their deaths or having them panic at the start and shooting your good units in the back. Or misclicking and running up to a Chrysalid instead of shooting it.
